Sunless tanner + Bikini Area

I'm sick of being so pale, and since I have relatives who have had skin cancer, tanning is right out. So I want to try a sunless tanner. Are they safe to use on the bikini area? Are they effective? I'd like to use it on the area where I shave - will it be horribly irritating on that skin?

I've never used any kind of sunless tanner before, so any other suggestions you might have would be great, too.

I also get tested for anemia every time I get sick. At least my doctor at home has given up looking for it - the one at school is starting to catch on that testing me for anemia again would probably just be pointless.
