Me again.
So.
I got my period today.
And I put in a tampon, using your advice from before.
But,
It felt weird when it was in.
Is that normal?
Like, I could feel it.
I got it in all the way, but it felt weird so I took it out.

Date: 2006-07-03 05:18 am (UTC)Also, it's possible that the particular brand of tampon isn't the right fit for you. I have a short vaginal canal with a cervix that drops pretty darn low during menstruation, so that if I try to use a longer tampon (like a Tampax), the top hits my cervix while the bottom is still low enough for me to experience discomfort from it. Because of this, the brand of tampons I liked best were o.b. tampons, which were shorter than the Tampax tampons.

Good luck!

Date: 2006-07-03 06:07 am (UTC)The thing is, the lower part of the average vagina is very sensitive and has lots of nerve endings, but once you pass that opening, there is generally little feeling. You have to make sure the tampon is past the sensitive part. If you use a tampon with an applicator, make sure to insert the applicator until your fingers touch your inner lips/vaginal opening and not just the outside of your vulva. I don't think I read your earlier post, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating any advice, but it really just takes time. Everyone has a unique vagina, and some women are never comfortable with tampons. You might find that menstrual cups are a better fit for you as far as internal menstrual collection goes.

Date: 2006-07-03 11:47 pm (UTC)The first time I put one in, I was so nervous I forgot to remove the applicator. I could definitely feel the tampon then. Did you do leave the applicator in, by chance? The cardboard applicator is to be thrown away once you pull it out (leaving the wad of cotton in your vagina). Sorry if that insults you to ask that question, but just wanted to make sure.
