period postponing?

okay, i read the birthcontrol faq..

but no answer.


how soon does birth control need to kick in before it will delay your period?

i get mine on the 10th but i'm going to be on the road, and staying with people.. so i really don't want to have it.

am i basically screwed or would it be possible for me to postpone it if i got on birth control sometime before it? how soon?

Personally, my first month on birth control (desogen), I had fairly significant spotting for almost the entire month (minus maybe the first 4-5 days). As everyone else has mentioned, it really depends on your body. Good luck.
