Date: 2006-06-19 03:56 am (UTC)However, I have searched high and low in the medical/scientific literature, and I have found absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that there is any truth to this theory. Not, of course, that it has been rigorously tested and found to be false, but rather that it has never been tested at all. In fact, the most recent research on the topic was looking at whether vitamin supplementation (presumably with normal doses, not megadoses) might prevent miscarriage (it doesn't).
So... fact or fiction? I guess it depends on how you feel about traditional/anecdotal evidence versus actual science. Personally, I wouldn't rely on something completely unproven for something that important, but that's just my opinion.
