Hey There.

Lately, I've been working at a summer camp and become extremely hot and sweaty, as well as when I work out after camp. However, I notice that when Im outside and I'm sweaty I get a lot more discharge ( it's clear and sticky) but it's irritating, since it's so hot. I was curious if anyone else deals with these issues and if there's a way to prevent yourself from sweating so much?

Thanks!

corn starch or baby powder works on thighs to keep them from getting irritated... my mother also swears anti-persperants/deoderant work too...

as for discharge... a pantiliner works... until you get your underwear so soaked with sweat it refuses to stick... my sister suggusts the luna pantiliners...

there is no really good way to deal with it that I've come across... I used to live in Houston... it just became sort of a fact of life from April until October that you were going to be hot, sweaty sticky and gross.

I personally just accept it and go on with my life but there are a few things you can do to help if it bothers you that much. If you can you cans hower a few times a day or rinse the area with plain luke warm/cool water (no soap), you can use panty liners, but if I were you I would keep the use to a minimal, you can also consider using moist unscented alcohol free baby wipes. For your thighs/outer lips, you could use baby powder or corn starch like the last person suggested. I think Monistat also make and anti-chafing gel.

Soap isn't good tot use on the vulva. the skin of the vulva is more sensitive than your eyes. Soap can be very irritating, and drying to the vulva. It can also encourage infections and itching. Also, the vulva and vagina is self cleaning and you don't need to use soap in the area, rinsing with warm water should be enough. You can however use soap on the outer lips and public area, just not on the vuvla directly.

I sweat a lot too and have the same problems. I tried corn starch, and also something specifically for vaginal-area sweating. It would work for an hour or two but then I would be sweating too much and the powder would like...turn into this gooey wet paste like papier mache mix, which was infinitely more gross. So, well, I've never found a good way to deal with it, except maybe wearing skirts more often instead of pants to keep air flowing in there during hot weather.

I just don't wear underwear and make sure I'm wearing a long-ish skirt. The draft helps as long as you're not climbing trees.

Yeah, I stopped wearing undies too, except when I'm on my period. They're just more trouble than they're worth sometimes.

I swear by Kotex Lightdays pantiliners for daily use. They have awesome adhesive, in my opinion, and they don't make me feel extra "swampy" down thar.

I love Carefree pantyliners. The suckers stick like no other, and I keep some handy in my "tampon bag" at all times not only for heavy period days, but for hot days when I'm sweaty like this. I've also taken to wearing them when I'm wearing a thinner type of dress pant at the office (think gaucho pants) because even though I know nobody else can smell my discharge, I feel better about it.

In addition I absolutely adore Carefree's feminine wipes. They're individually packaged so they're also easy to throw in the "tampon bag". On those days when I'm extra hot/sweaty or during my period when things get messy, I adore having a wet wipe to use discreetly wherever I am. They honestly refresh the vulva area in my opinion - they easily clean up any stray discharge/smegma/blood and leave the area odorless.

My "tampon bag" should be renamed to my "feminine emergency bag". Haha. By the way it's just a small makeup bag that I always keep in my purse. Never know when I'll want a pantyliner or when a friend will need a tampon. :)

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Carefree's are so thin I can't even feel them - and this is from someone who will absolutely not use a pad under any circumstances. We're talking I'll drive 25 minutes to the 24 hour Walgreens or Wal-mart at 2am if I'm out of tampons rather than borrow a pad. I just can't stand them. Really they blend right in with the feeling of your undies (unless you wear thongs in which case I think they make a thong liner too) they just protect your undies from absorbing all the moisture and making you uncomfortable for the rest of the day.
