Hey.

Brief history:
21, virgin (no PIV, oral, fingering, ect), not prone to UTIs or anything..

My vag itches SO MUCH. I'm pretty sure it's not a yeast infection 'cause there's no discharge (thin or otherwise, it's like it's always been) and no smell..

I think it's just little abraisions or something, trying to heal but not getting to? and they're itchy in the meantime.. like from my urethra back to my cooter and a little inside/around that area..

How can I relieve the itching until whatever it is heals? It's not unbearable but it's pretty annoying.

*waves hello to the people on her friends list who are also part of vagpag, who now know TMI about her vagina troubles*

I had the SAME symptoms and it did turn out to be yeast. I did not have discharge for the first two days, and yeast doesn't really have a smell to the best of my knowledge. It never smelled for me.

I thought they were abrasions too and stupidly put neosporin on my vulva which definitely made things worse.

If you can, get yourself to a gyno asap and have them test for yeast and whatever else it could be. In the meantime, you can get Monistat cream that has the tube of "external cream" and use the extra tube of cream on your vulva. If it is yeast, your itching will go down really quickly. If not, the external cream has a lower percentage of active ingredients than the vaginal cream, and (as I was told by the nurse I called) will probably not do too much damage to you if you don't have yeast.

Even if the external cream helps, I'd still go see a gyno just in case, but make sure you see them before you start using any vaginal cream so they can diagnose you with yeast. That way, you'll know what it is/what to do next time this happens.

This may be unrelated to your initial query, but your comment promted me to share this link with you:

Perhaps that will quell some of your gyno anxiety.

Good luck!

I believe (the YI experts can correct me if I'm wrong as I've only had a YI once) that a YI can last for quite a long time if it's left untreated.

It also didn't look red or inflamed to me, but it was kind of sore because yeast dries your skin out.

You might also want to try some of the herbal remedies that are listed in the YI-FAQ on the vagpag site. I didn't try them, but I know other people have used them with good results.

The gyno is not that scary at all. I was only 16 when I went the first time (random out of cycle bleeding problem), and it wasn't bad at all. I think that it is highly recommended that you go see one once you either become sexually active or turn 18, whichever comes first.

I'm not positive about this, but I think that you can get them through Planned Parenthood. (Anyone else know?) I just found one through my regular doctor. In fact, some internal medicine doctors/general practicioners, including mine, will do a general gyno exam for you and could easily do a yeast test instead of sending you to a gyno.

good luck!

Many people experience yeast infections with symptoms you describe-itching and cuts, and don't have the odor or discharge that people typically describe with a yeast infection. It's important to consult a health care professional if this is the first time, to be sure that it really is yeast, and not something else going on, like an allergy, which would require a completely different treatment. You can read more about it in VP's Yeast Infection FAQ.

If/when you do consult a health care professional, your GP may be able to take care of this for you, or could probably provide a referral to another health care provider who could.

Feel better soon.

It does sound a lot like yeast. You can see a regular doctor for a yeast infection. any GP should do...

Could be a reaction to washing powder/fabric softener.

I've had a few yeast infections without discharge/bad smell and just itching though.

I actually had the same symptoms and it turned out to be a UTI - which was EXTREMELY weird because I didn't have any burning with urination or anything.

If you go to a clinic they can usually do a really quick dip-stick test in your urine to determine if you have an infection.

It sounds a little bit like yeast to me, I think you should go ahead and get checked just to make sure! You need to find a gyno eventually, after all. Check VP's Gynecologist directory (http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/4372021.html) for doctors we think are awesome. There might be one near you! Do yourself a favor and ease your mind, and feel better :)
