I'm curious about something.

How many women have spotting occur? How common is it?

My boss and i were talking yesterday (we're more like friends than anything, and super close) about the fact that i'm spotting again.

I was on Lo-Ovral for almost a year. I was having continuous periods for the last three-four months i was on it. So, my gyno changed me over to Yasmin. Im into my third week on the yasmin and have spotted since my 7th pill in the pack. What gives?

Is it really this common to spot all the way through a cycle? My doctor doesn't seem that concerned that im spotting. (some days it's practically nothing, while others, its almost like i have my period) It's getting a little frustrating, especially sexually. Thank god my boy doesn't get all squicky with blood!

ps. I do realize that it takes time for your body to readjust to new hormones. Im not asking that, im just curious, because this isnt the first pill this has happened with for me. kthx.

I spotted constantly when I first went on BCP. Then I read online that taking tons of Vitamin C can alter the amount of estrogen in your body. I was talking TONS. So I stopped, and so did the spotting. Any possibility that you're taking something that is interacting? (my doctor denied that C interferes w/the pill. She was wrong.)

No, I don't think Zoloft does (I was on that too!), but actually I think there has been some fuss about Evening Primrose. Nothing on the level of St. John's Wort, but some speculative discussions about it affecting the estrogen levels. But if you only took that for a week, it can't be it...have you thought about a non-hormonal method? IUD maybe?

Are you sure the online site you read mentioned estrogen and not progesterone?

If you are, I'd be interested in reading the source. Everything I've read about ascorbic acid -- like here (http://www.choicetolivewith.com/herbalabortion.html#anchor_73) -- suggest it interferes with progesterone production.

yasmn is really low dose (not sure how it compares to lo-ovral) so your spotting may mean it's not enough for you, which is usually what spotting is a sign of. obviously, since you just started, it's nothing to worrry about, unless it continues. also if this has happened with several pills that may just be a sign your body needs a stronger pill.
