I have an odd sort of question for you, my fine ladies.

Last night, my SO and I had sex for the first time in a month and a half (I had my period, then I was sick, then he was sick, then he had crippling back pain, then I had my period again, then more back pain, etc.)

A typical (and very enjoyable) ingredient in our foreplay is lengthy nipple stimulation. I was laying on my side, so only my right nipple was accessible, and there was a great deal of very direct and very firm stimulation. About 15-20 minutes into it, I started to feel damp, but I brushed it off as being overstimulated, and there was a fan blowing, so I didn't think much of it.

Afterwards, I mentioned thinking I felt my nipple get wet, and he said he thought he felt the same thing. I turned on a light and sort of squeezed my nipple, and a little drop of clear moisture beaded out of the side. I couldn't get it to do it again, and my nipple is very very sore now. The whole thing was twice the size it usually is, and my breast is very tender.

What the hell happened? Did I lactate, and if so, why now, when I've never done it before?

Thanks, girls.

EDIT: Thanks for all the input. I'm going to do my best to make it to a doctor in the next few days to find out what this mysterious liquid could have been. It hasn't happened since, but my nipples are very sensitive. I'll be sure to let everyone know what's up :)

Someone did tell me once that if someone sucks on your nipple long enough, you will start to lactate, however I didn't believe them... :( it might be true tho!

It is true, but "long enough" doesn't mean "one long session of sex" - more like a few months of pumping/hand expressing or nursing. Adopting mothers can induce lactation and breastfeed, though usually in this day medications and hormones are often used to facilitate the process.

Anyway, it's not unheard-of for spontaneous lactation to occur, and there are some medications that can cause prolactin levels to rise.

Mayoclinic.com says the following:

Q.
Is it normal for a 21-year-old female to lactate if she's not pregnant?
No name given/ Indiana

A.

Lactation is rare in women who aren't pregnant or nursing a baby — and especially in women who have never been pregnant. Lactation is the production of milk by the breast. A whitish discharge from the nipple may not actually be milk. A common cause of abnormal nipple discharge are fibrocystic breast changes. This condition isn't serious.

Causes of abnormal lactation include:

* A noncancerous (benign) tumor of the pituitary gland
* Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
* A side effect of some medications
* Rarely, cancerous (malignant) tumors of the pituitary gland or hypothalamus

Any nipple discharge should be evaluated by a doctor.

You lactated. I've been able to lactate for years. In my experience, basicly any contact like sucking or pinching can make you lactate. Now I can squeeze my nipples and a few little drops will come out. I've heard of men doing it as well but I've never seen it. It freaks my fiance out so when I'm mad at him I threaten to play with his nipples until he lactates.

Please see the posts above yours. You aren't likely to be lactating, and it's not very likely the OP is either.

It started happening to me when I was 10 and my doctor told me then that it was colostrum and it was happening because my breasts were developing. I just assumed it was the same thing as what people called "lactate".

colostrum is the first little bit of liquid (discharge, really) that comes out of a woman's breasts after she has a baby. It's not breast milk - that comes after the colostrum.

Friendly Mod Request
