hi everyone. i have been struggling with bulimia for about a year. last night i ate a lot and decided to not throw up for once in hopes to try and cure myself. well this morning i woke with horrid stomach pains, so terrible that i almost passed out on the toilet because of the pain from bowel movements. after that i have been experiencing severe sharp pains in my abdomen and when i pee i feel extreme pressure on my bladder. the pain will not go away and i have trouble walking upright. going to the doctor is not feasible right now and i'm very worried. i've had these bizarre sharp pains in my bladder even before my eating disorder that have left me bed ridden for about three days before it goes away, so maybe i'm just crazy about thinking that they are related, i don't know. i'm wondering if anyone has experienced pain such as this before and what they did to alleviate it if so. i've been taking cystex pills and drinking cranberry juice and water.
thank you ahead of time for any comments or advice you may have.

Have you been going #2 regularly?
A lot of times with EDs, you can get REALLY constipated due to the fact that you are either overeating, undereating, or eating foods without any nutritional value or fiber.
Are you abusing laxatives as well? I know when I was abusing laxatives that certainly didnt help out my piping down there.
That could be why you are having such terribke stomach pains.

It may be eating disorder related or it may not...regardless you are endangering your health with an ED (a fact Im sure you know)
Im a mod at [livejournal.com profile] ed_recovery if you would like some more advice on the subject I know we can definitely give it to you.
Recovery isnt easy and takes a lot of time...but it is possible and worth it.

i doubt the bladder pains are related to your ED, unless you are regularly dehydrated or are possibly mistaking bladder pains for some other kind of pain (there are lots of organs all in that area).

it's possible that the severe pains you got are because your stomach and your intestines had to deal with all that food and aren't used to it. i had an eating disorder for a long long time, and sometimes when i ate too much and didn't throw up, i got really horrible pains in my stomach and intestines. i also have IBS and sometimes that causes extreme pain with having a BM, but its better now that i eat regular.....so, it could just be your body adjusting.

if your stomach pains haven't gone away, or are getting worse, you should consider going to the emergency room, or at least calling them to see. sharp abdominal pains that last for a long time and/or aren't alleviated by going to the bathroom can be a sign of a lot of things, many that need immediate attention. if you are running a fever you should also call. i know you said going to the doctors isn't feasible right now, but sharp abdominal pains that don't go away need to be addressed. calling the ER would be a good idea....

I have to agree with the posters above - the pains are probably caused by your body to deal with a quantitiy of food it's not used to. If it persists, you really should try to see a doctor.

I also want to wish you luck with your fight. Just the fact that you're trying and you're able to post about it here is such a good sign! Stay strong, and if you haven't already, you should probably try to find a support group anda counsellor or therapist.

Good luck!

Are you sure they're bladder pains? I had sharp pains like that for a while and I couldn't figure out if it was my stomach, my intestines, my ovaries, my bladder, or what. Like another poster said, there are lots of organs right there, and it can be hard to tell what's hurting. (Mine turned out to be ovarian cysts, but eh.)

Were the bowel movements painful... inside or... sort of outside? It's hard to explain what I'm asking, I guess, but... Do your insides hurt, or is it the anus that hurts? Like you're pushing out something that's too large to come out, or like it has something sharp in it? If it's the latter, then it couuld be a hemmerhoid or an anal fissure, which normally aren't cause for concern. Since you said you nearly passed out from the pain, though, I'd say you should be concerned. If it hurts inside, then it could definitely be something serious.

I know nothing about eating disorders, so I'm not really of any help there. I do want to commend you for trying to get better, though. Like I said, I don't know anything about them or treating them, but maybe there are websites that can tell you how to help treat yourself. I would imagine that maybe if your body isn't used to having so much food inside it and having to get rid of waste, then increasing your food intake gradually would help. Basically, what I'm saying is, look it up and see if there's something you can do to help your body help itself, since you've decided to overcome your eating disorder.

Good luck. :)

I know this won't help you now...or maybe it will ::Shrugs:: anyhow, if your body is having trouble adjusting, you could start by the following plan:

-real fruit juices (not just concentrates)
-then juice and fruit and veges and carbs
-then everything (or save dairy for the last day)

this will help your system get used to processing foods in the most gentle manner thus preventing pain. The slower you ease up the scale, the less difficult it will be but it shouldn't take you more than 2 weeks.

And as everyone said, if the stomach pains don't go away it's probably something serious. Intense stomach pains for prolonged periods of time are one of the most concerning and worrysome issues related to the medical field. So, please at least call the ER if you can't go to a doctor.
