do people mind pubic stubble?

I'll be eighteen next week, and I've been shaving my pubic hair for several years now. For a while it was all of it, then just the labia, and now it's back to a landing strip. I've never had anyone see me naked except for family members and my doctor.
Anyway, my question is essentially this:
I shave because I don't like the hair, I think it's unattractive and itchy. But I can't shave every day, because it gets irritated -- usually every other day. I find the stubble unattractive. When someone does see me naked, or at least without my underwear on (which I'd like to be sooner rather than later but that's another question entirely), I'm afraid they'll think it's weird that I shave, or that it's weird that I shave but there's a little bit of stubble.
Any suggestions for how to get more comfortable with that?

Part of this is I like the hair, but also that the stubbly look is a turn off(usually on women, I notice it less on men for some reason)and I think razor-burn looks yicky. I also don't like the little-kid-esque quality of it. Aside from.. whether or not it turns me on, or whatever, I just find it less aesthetically appealing. I rememeber the first shaved person I ever saw in person(landing strip) was one of my best friends. She had horrible shaving bumps and stubble. And I really didn't like the look of the strip. In all of shaved-dom(porn, in person, magazines) I've never seen a shaving that I thought looked good. I have shaved completely a few times and hate it every time because it is so painful growing in or re-shaving. I once made the mistake of trying to N'air. Woo-boy.
Anyway.. that's all just my opinion. Like body-types, there are a billion different pubic grooming techniques out there and I don't think anyone you're with is going to have a problem with what you choose to do. And if they do, well, tough noogies for them.
