Alright, I looked through the archive and looked for the answer to this and didn't see it.
This summer I have had three ear infections. I have my third one now. And each time they have given me a form of amoxicilin. Each time I have gotten a yeast infection. This time I thought I'd be smart and pre-emptive. So I bought a bunch of cranberry juice, yogurt, and those Azo yeast tablets. And I've been taking the tablets as directed. I started the antibiotics yesterday. And sure enough, I've got that itching sensation.
I've already bought the monistat. So, my question is... do I use it tonight, or wait until the end of my antibiotics in ten days? If I use it tonight, will I just get another YI?
Thanks a lot.

Thanks a bunch.

Honestly, I've never tried the garlic, but you're right, it's a fraction of the cost and I know a lot of women here swear by it. It's not going to hurt, at the very least.
Oh, and gentian violet works REALLY well on yeast. Since it's an alcohol-based tincture, it can sting a bit when it's applied, but I've never let that stop me :D

Date: 2005-09-09 09:08 pm (UTC)Acidophilus pills help, too, but some better than others, as someone else said. Unfortunately, they can be expensive, too.
I second the diflucan suggestion, too. You may be able to call your doc, tell him your symptoms, and ask him/her to call in a prescription of it for you.
I can't imagine waiting to treat a yeast infection. I say do it now. And buy another box of (generic-brand; much cheaper) antifungal vag cream to have around just in case it comes back.
You have my sympathy. I've been there, a lot.

Date: 2005-09-09 08:36 pm (UTC)I just read recently that cinnamon and basil make great duche for YI, and next time i feel one coming on, i am going to try it.
here it is if anyone else want to try it;
boil 8-10 cinnamon sticks in 4cups of water, let simmer for 5 mins, and steep for 45 mins, when cooled, put in duche container. it doesnt say for how many days, so would assume til the itch goes away.
