Has anyone else had the experience where before they started having sex they had orgasms all the time, like mind-blowing amazing orgasms...but when sex started with that person the orgasms basically disappeared? Could it be that sex is changing how I orgasm? Could Birth Control change how you orgasm and your sex drive level?

When I went on birth control, my sensitivity levels went way down. Before, he hardly had to touch me to get me going, but after, it took a bit of work to get me excited, and it took longer to orgasm.

The pill is usually the culprit for dramatically reducing sex drive and satisfaction. My doc and I always laugh about how of course the pill is birth control-no one ever wants to have sex on it!

But thats just me. I cant speak for everyone, but the pill has this side effect.

Do you mean

"before I started having sex I had great orgasms all the time by myself"

or

"before I started 'having sex' with X, we were doing something else that I wouldn't call 'sex', and I had great orgasms all the time"

or

"before I went on birth control I used to have great orgasms, but after I went on birth control, I'm having trouble reaching orgasms in the way(s) that I used to"


If A, then are you trying to have orgasms by yourself now, and it's not working, or are you not trying?

If B, try doing whatever you were doing before that you used to enjoy.

If C, yes, my understanding is that it is possible for oral birth control pills to reduce sexual desire.

I started having sex a month and a half after I started birth control. We were planning the wedding so my fiance (now husband) didn't do much that whole time. So I don't know if the decreased orgasms started with the B.C. or if we're doing something different now. Actually, I know we're doing something different. Before he was totally courting me, paying attention to my whole body...now I feel like he just focuses nipples and cunt most of the time. But, even when he does things pretty much like before, I still don't have one or it's just not as good. It's frustrating because it was so easy before and I could have 5+ in a row, and now I haven't had one in almost a month.

Hormonal BC can affect both your sex drive and your sexual response.

Talk to your doctor. You may have to go on a different dosage.

Thanks everyone for posting...It makes me feel better to know that BC can cause decreased sex drive. I'm SO frustrated because the month before I started BC I got off paxil, which decreased my sex drive also...lol, I'd be sexually comatose if I was on both.

yea. i used to be able to get off without even touching myself (just through stomach contractions heh heh heh) and once i started having sex and taking the pill, it's a lot of work for me to get off. i went about a month with my boyfriend not being able to make me come and it FINALLY happened. i was in a great mood. but yea, my sex drive hasn't been the same since *shrug*. it is getting a lot better though...

a little of both. not so much the kegles, though i do them now that i'm actually having sex with somebody on a regular basis.

but i could just tighten everything up and if i was hot enough it would work. it was a little weird. now i actually have to concentrate on having an orgasm... heaven forbid :)

you know i've never had an orgasm from penetration alone. i've only had sex about 4 or 5 times though so i'm hoping it can be done. generally when i masturbate all i need is clitoral stimulation.

I've had it probably about...100 times and it still hasn't happened. Sometimes it takes quite a while. A woman's sexual peak is at 30, and I don't know how old you are, but I wish you luck :-p
