hey all... I'm not sure if I introduced myself or not yet, so my name's Tara.
I have a really weird question, but I'm pretty concerned. Tonight, I was with my boyfriend and during our "messing around" he noticed that I had started my period. (how embarrassing) only, I've been on Alesse 28 for like 3 years now, and the only time that I've had a messed up period was because I missed pills or screwed up the timing on when I took them. However, I didn't do this this month and usually when this happens, it's more of a 'dry' looking blood, this wasn't. Does anyone know what it could have come from? And also, is it really true that you have to take your pill at the EXACT same time every day in order for it to be completely effective? Cause I've heard sooo many stories about that. oh, i've been there. it's something to do with the progesterone levels in alesse. during the second week or so of your cycle, you'll spot for a few days, then stop. it's normal.

and, yeah, for the bc pill to be completely effective [i.e. you'll only have a 2% chance of getting pregnant -- i think that's the stat, anyway], you're supposed to take it at the same time everyday. pain in the ass, i know. ugh. i settled for taking it AROUND the same time everyday. playing with fire. ack.

Yeah, I'm on that pill and i've had both the "dry" blood and a normal period at weird times before due to not taking it at the exact same time everyday. I'm sure what you experienced was normal. I've started the alarm clock on my phone to go off every night at midnight, so i'm sure to take at the same time.

I've heard it's different for different kind of pills - the mini-pill (I *think*) it's more important to take the same time every day, the combined one you really should, but it doesn't mess you up so much if you don't.
