i get this thing a few times a month that is sort of like a urinary infection, only it's not. i've had urinary infections before.. where i can't stop feeling like i have to pee and when i do it burns. this is different. there is no burning; only the feeling that i have to go to the bathroom constantly. i can't tell why this happens. sometimes i think it's in my head. i've been to the doctor's before when i had only one symptom and the tests for a urinary tract infection always come back negative. i know i don't have an std or anything like that. and i haven't done anything to damage down there.. ie. horseback riding. does anyone have an idea of what this is and how i could prevent it? it's a horrible feeling..

Date: 2002-04-29 02:26 am (UTC)the bladder infection tests came back negative..
the doctor said it was probably a mild infection at the area that controls the impulse to go (im not sure where that is, but the part that tells you you have to pee, the infection interfears with the nerves and messages and whatnot, but it doesnt show up as a bladder infection)
ive also had bladder infections where thats the only symptom i have, or where i have no symptoms but tests come back showing infection.
i dont think ive EVER had a bladder infection where i get burning. i do think ive had a kidney infection (BAD pain in the back/sides) that also shows up as a 'bladder infection'
any infection in your urinary tract is deamed bladder infection i think? i think my infections tend to be higher up in the tract, so no burning.
so my guess is its a mild infection.
drink cranberry juice!

Date: 2002-04-29 02:41 am (UTC)oh, its like where you feel like you have to go constantly but nothing comes out right?
(thats what i have sometimes)
if youre actually peeing constantly it could be something else (possibly more serious).
it generally just goes away..
sometimes i weird bladder things around my period too, and then once thats over with its all better?

Date: 2002-04-30 02:53 am (UTC)well for me it always goes away in a couple of weeks at the most
maybe you should get it checked out again
you can get bladder stones (like kidney stones, but they form in your bladder) and i could be totally wrong, im not really sure, but i think one of the symptoms of that is feeling like you need to pee all the time
look it up and see.
i know how uncomfortable it is even for a week, over a month.. yikes. i really dont know.

the first couple of weeks were much worse, so i figured maybe it would go away on it's own. it's sort of just lingering around though. i drink a good amount of water too, so i thought whatever it was would eventually pass. we'll see.
thanks again.

Date: 2002-04-29 07:27 am (UTC)(1) do you get thirstier at different times of the month? Yeah, it seems like a no-brainer :) but I'm on a bunch of meds that all dry me out, so I drink water like a maniac sometimes.... and increased input > increased output!
(2) if you do get thirstier, drink more, and therefore pee more.... do you have other diabetic symptoms? This one is more serious and less likely; but if you also get yeast infection symptoms and/or cold hands and feet (tingling) and/or change in appetite and weight and/or a bunch of other stuff you can find online... you might want to get blood-glucose tests.
(3) if this is to a serious point, and stays awhile (which it looks like it might be doing.. sorry! no fun!), I've heard that some people have sensitive nerves in the bladder, etc... not sure what the med stuff behind that is, but i know it can happen. Wouldn't be surprised if I have a tiny touch of it myself; my bf and I joke that I have a small bladder, because I have to go to the bathroom about 3 or 4x for every once that he does....
...anyhow, hope you feel better

i posted this a few weeks ago in
http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=womenhealth&itemid=16281
it feels like i have to go all the time. sometimes i wake up several times a night because i'm afraid i'll wet the bed - but of course when i reach the bathroom it turns out there's nothing in there.
this is the first time i've experienced this, and it's been ongoing for a month if not more. most ppl have suggested that it's a pulled muscle, but i haven't done/lifted anything that would cause that.
btw, great icon.
