Hi all, I'm a first time poster here so...here goes I guess.

I started on Lutera HBC in May while at school, then I came home and in June I got my prescription refilled and they gave me Aviane. After my first pap and talking to my gyno we decided that she would prescribe me the generic of Beyaz, which is Ocella. However, there were issues with insurance and the pharmacy needing a prior authorization and a bunch of other bull so I got a free sample pack of Beyaz to take while we figured all of that out. I did this so that I wouldn't have to wait until my next period came around and waste time with being unsure of my period status. Today will be the first day taking inactive pills (Beyaz is a 24/4 pack) and I have a few questions (sorry for all the backstory, I felt it was kind of necessary):

1. I started Beyaz one day late because of when I was able to get the sample, but I followed the directions, taking it as soon as I got it, then one that night at the regular time. Later in the month (last Wednesday I believe), I left my pack at my house and stayed with my boyfriend. We didn't have sex that night and when I got home I combed the instructions, looking for what to do if you miss a second pill in the pack, but I could only find instructions for if you miss two in a row...so I did the same thing I did. Took it as soon as I could and then followed it with the regularly scheduled pill at 8 pm. Now Thursday night, the day I took two to make up for Wednesday, we had sex without a condom. I'm wondering if this was a mistake? As in what's the chance of me being pregnant...I know there is still a chance of getting pregnant on HBC, especially if you miss/skip/don't take pills regularly at the same time, but I'm usually pretty good about it...This leads me to my next question:

2. When do you generally start your period on 24/4 packs? This is the first one I've had and so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to expect my period at the same time I had it with Aviane (21/7 pack). I know it's different for everyone, but I just wanted to know if anyone had been in this kind of switching of HBC.

3. I'm concerned about being on HBC for coming up on 4 months and never having been on the same brand for any extended period of time. I'm pretty sure (and my gyno comforted me a bit here) that Aviane is just another generic brand of Lutera. Beyaz is a slightly higher dosed hormone HBC than Lutera/Aviane, and the HBC I'll be starting on Sunday, Ocella, is the generic brand of Beyaz. I'm just wondering if I might be missing a period this time round because my hormone levels will be different than the past two months.

Gah. Sorry this is so long-winded. I just thought the more backstory, the better you guys could understand my situation? Also...OT a little bit, but this community has helped me a lot these past few months! Love it here!

The other day I found a small, pea sized bump inside my vagina. It's deeper than my inner labia, actually more like the wall of my vagina. I'm going to the doctor today for a routine pregnancy checkup (I'm just starting my 3rd trimester), and obviously I'll be asking about it then, but I was wondering in the mean time if anyone had an idea of what this could be. It was too far in (and too hard for me to balance my big, round self) for me to see with a small, handheld mirror, so I'm not sure what it looks like. Oh, and my husband and I have never had sex with anyone aside from each other.

 Hi all,

Perhaps this question is best posed to a birth control specific community but I love you guys here so perhaps you'll be able to advise me.

I've just recently re-started hbc after a short break. My doctor prescribed the new lo loestrin with the lowest dose of estrogen available. I love it so far.

Anyway, my question is, the insert information for the pill pack says that the average chance of pregnancy while taking the pill is 2-4 women in 100.  This seems very high to me, so I did a search and found on the birthcontrol community a few users who commented that they believe the 2-4 statistics show just one rate of use, and not "perfect use" vs. "typical use" as other warnings use.

In this post it was said that "we think the only thing that's changed is the wording, the actual rates have been the same all along."  BUT the posters are clear that they only "think" this is true, and there is no person with this information for sure.

Naturally, I'm a little worried.  4 in 100 seems high.  I am an example of perfect use (knock on wood!). I take my pill at 8PM ON THE DOT every day.  My old pill (Levora) said that perfect use had a .1% failure rate, and typical use had a 2% failure rate.  Now the only listed rate is 2-4%.  So, forgoing the "there's always a CHANCE and if you're worried you should use a condom" advice, does anyone know anything about this new percentage? Do you think it's a question I should pose to the manufacturers?

period?

 Hi guys!

I ended my period around 3 days ago. I started on my new pack of HBC 2 days before the period ended. I then realized that if I started my new pack right away my period would land the day I get home from a 6 month trip. I also thought it would be a good time to give my body a break from the BC (as I am taking anti-malarials which make me at risk for a yeast infection as do my BC). So I stopped taking it. I took a total of 4 pills.

Tonight it looks like I've gotten my period AGAIN. Did I mess up my cycle and start a period? Could this be left over blood from last time?

Generally I would not be so stressed out but I don't have access to pads or tampons ( I am in Tamale, Ghana) Or maybe I do but I will really have to hunt for them and feel nervous to do this.

Should I start the BC again? Just let my cycle run it's course?

I have just had my latest pap smear and it's come back 'borderline' - that's all that the letter said, and I'd be recalled in 6 months (in the UK they classify test results as abnormal, borderline or normal).

I had one 18 months ago which came back as borderline, so I was retested six months later and it all came back normal so they'd retest in a year. Now this one has come back as borderline. Anyone know WTF is going on down there? Especially since the nurse who did the test said that my cervix was looking really good and healthy!

I'm 26, STI free, don't smoke, am a little on the heavy side but not hugely so, so I am FREAKING OUT, especially since my husband and I are making plans for getting my mirena removed soon and trying for a baby. What can I do to minimise my chances of getting another borderline result, if any?

I am totally freaked out by this all and can't stop crying since all I can see is that my chances of having a family are out the window.
