I have strep throat. I went to the doctor on Sunday and was prescribed penicillin. I always get a YI after being on antibiotics. but usually my YI doesnt show up until im on my last day or two.
I have to take this stuff for ten days, and as of this morning i knew i had a YI but am only on my 3rd day.
I'm treating it with yogurt tonight, but am wondering how long i need to do this?
Since i am so early on in the antibiotics, should i just keep using yogurt until im off them? I thought about just stopping when I usually do (once symptoms are all gone) but didn't know if this was a bad idea in that my YI would just keep coming back/getting worse for the duration of my antibiotics.
what do you usually do when your antibiotics cause a YI only days after taking them?

So, I've posted here a lot in the past few months because I was having these persistant YI and BV symptoms for several months.  I even went to planned parenthood twice for a diagnosis and treatment.  After trying pretty much every treatment listed in the vulvapedia, going off the pill, and not having sex for over two months, I still had symptoms.

Finally I went to my family doctor. He did a culture and a papsmear.  My culture came back negative, and there were no malignancies on my pap. So in an infection sense there is nothing wrong with my vagina.  However, I'm still having this thickish white discharge. Its consistency is kind of like....lotion.  I'm also still having occasional, but not nearly as persistant itching.

I'm std and sti free, so I have absolutely no idea what this could be. Any ideas VP?

I just finished my first pack of HBC, and when I tried to put my cup in, it just wouldn't go. well, it went in, but it sat so low that i couldn't stand it. i tried it multiple times, and it would never sit correctly. even after wearing it for a while, it didn't move up to a good position like it normally does.
has taking BC affected anyone else like this? i'm thinking maybe my cervix was in a lower position than usual. I'm on ortho tri-cyclen lo, fyi. I use a MCUK and it is usually amazing for me, but i had to stick with pads for most of this period. I really hope that  it was just something that happened just this once though, becuase i'm planning on sticking with my birth control for a while and i really don't want to buy a smaller cup because of it.

After checking over the Vulvapedia and the waxing directory on VP... I still have a question or two.  I don't know anyone in my area who gets their bits waxed, so I figured I'd ask y'all!

I live east of DFW and I was looking for a good waxer around that area.

I'm willing to travel.  I've never had a Brazillian, but I've always wanted one.  How are prices for the place you're recommending?  Staff friendly and will make you comfortable?  Should I make an appointment for it, or just be a random "walk-in?"

Please give me:

1.  Name of Salon
2.  Name of any favorite waxer
3.  Location (address, website, zipcode, city)
4.  Prices
5.  Experience with the staff

Thank you in advance!

i'm not sure if this belongs here, so if i need to delete it that's fine!

that is a picture of my SAM (save and masturbate) fund. since halloween, i have been saving 50 cents every time i masturbate. in that picture, there's about $55 in coins!!! it started out as a joke but then i actually began to do it and the money started adding up. not only is this a fun way of saving money, but it encourages me to masturbate when i need to: if i'm stressed, anxious, have cramps, etc. it's a win-win situation, really. i just wanted to share and maybe inspire some of you to start your own SAM funds. :)

if someone could invent an at-home yeast infection test? like a pregnancy test, except for yeast?

Okay, so i'm new here (sorta, I'm a menstrual_cups member and occasionally hop over here)...But i've been constantly frustrated by one thing that i'm hoping someone can commiserate with...I find it VERY hard to tell when I have a yeast infection. This is mostly because I have a lovely little condition called Lichen Simplex Chronicus down there, which makes itching totally not out of the ordinary. I also have a significant amount of discharge on a daily basis, such that I have to wear a pantiliner daily (currently using kotex but hoping to get some cloth ones when i get home from studying abroad). So basically, the only way I can really tell if I have a yeastie is a) my normal treatment for my LSC--hydrocortisone cream, or prescription clobetasol propionate (i think i spelled that right)--doesnt work after two or three days or b) i put my Diva/a finger/a vibe in and it comes out with clumpies on it. I almost never notice clumps in my discharge, and out of all the yeast infections i've had i can only remember being able to smell a difference once. And i've had lots, the worst being freshman year of college when i actually got white spots on my inner labia, which freaked me the fuck out.

So THIS month, i was a tad itchy but still put my Diva in on the first day of my period...came out with clumps on the outside, so i bought some pads (UGHHHHHHH) and OTC treatment (Clotrimazole, which is all i can get here in Israel without a prescription) to use after my period...but now it seems to be gone? hydrocort is working on the itchies, no smell, no clumps on a (very clean) finger inserted during my shower...i've heard periods can cure YIs, but have never experienced it before. huh.

So yeah. I wish there was some sort of strip or stick i could put in my vag and it would say "you have a yeastie!" or "you're just being paranoid". anyone think this is possible?

Either that or I wish i could just get a lifetime supply of Diflucan so i can just take it whenever i THINK i have a yeastie, although i'm sure there's something wrong with that idea :-)

So after obsessively getting waxed for the last few years, I finally let my pubes grow in. And somewhere in that, I realized that I really liked the look of a woman with hair. It looks womanly.

My boyfriend is not quite as happy with the change. He says that it makes going down on me less enjoyable, and he's not able to perform as many hand tricks on my labia majora because the hair gets in the way. I've been trying to keep it trimmed, but honestly I only have scissors and it's pretty--well--hair raising to be cutting in such a delicate area. I keep meaning to go to the store and buy a trimmer, but I never get around to it.

My boyfriend has said that he would like it if I were to get a bikini wax as well as the whole underside (labia area). He's fine with the top of it (I think he secretly likes the look too), but he wants the bottom gone. I agree with him. The hair on the bottom isn't my favorite either.

I am really embarrassed to go to the waxer and ask for this. Do you guys think that they are going to look at me like I'm crazy?

Okay, so I guess I'm just looking for some advice or some good questions to be asking my doctor.
I started out on HBC 6 years ago.
Was on yasmin for 2 years, perfect no problems.  I was a whole new person.
Then I went to Planned Parenthood and got desogen because I couldnt afford yasmin.
Stayed on it for year, no bueno.  Terrible moods, starting losing my hair, couldnt gain weight etc.
So my doc changed me over to yaz because I'm one of those PMDD cases.  Sadly as great as I felt I had break through bleeding all of the time.  So I went back to yasmin for a year and a half.  The break through bleeding didnt stop.  In fact it got worse.  So I got married in the meantime and had to change doctors.  I saw my new gyno for the first time in January and she prescribed me OTC because she thought I needed more hormones to stop the bleeding.  OTC created even more break through bleeding to the point where I was bleeding 3 weeks out of the month.  After the 3 month period she switched me over to Norinyl.  She thought I needed a higher dosage.  And again with the new pill the bleeding, believe it or not, is worse than ever.  I havent stopped bleeding for a day in over a month.  I am STI free, no probs at all.  I went on the pill at 17 because I had terrible periods every 2 weeks that lasted for 2 weeks, and the blood loss was unreal.  Plus extreme mood swings etc.  Basically my mom couldnt take it any more and was totally freaked out so she took me to the gyno.  Pill prescribed, problem solved, until recently.

My gyno is...hmm not helpful?  She made me feel like an idiot when I was explaining the troubles I am having and told me it is probably because I am a smoker.  Because its a doctor designated to me by the Army it would be a huge task in changing docs.  But I'm tired of being miserable.  I would really like to TTC in a year or so and I feel like I need some help.  If I go off the pill I cant stop the blood loss, but on the pill I cant stop spotting.  Is there some research I should be doing?  Obviously I am not a doctor, but it seems the higher the hormones go, the worse I get.  Plus I've gained 13lbs since January that I cannot get rid of.  Do you have any suggestions of things I should be asking the doc?

TIA,
sorry this is so random.

Okay, this has to have been asked at one point or another but I got to thinking about it again today and so here we are.

My boyfriend and I have discussed a few times whether or not there are females out there who actually like (or love!) the taste of cum. I don't dislike it, but I wouldn't put it on my ice cream, you know?

He makes the case that I hate bananas and he loves them -- everyone likes the taste of different things. But I don't know if cum is one of those things that people really consider a delicacy (though there are entire cookbooks dedicated to cooking with it).

So tell me, [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina -- how do you feel about the taste of cum?

Hi everyone,

I am a sexually active 18-year-old. I recently checked myself out in the mirror and discovered something inside my vagina that I'm a bit concerned about. Just behind my hymeneal ring and on my top vaginal wall (when lying on one's back) is this lump. It seems to be some kind of relatively firm, ball-like mass about the size of a marble. I can feel it with my index finger about an inch or so in. It does not hurt in any way (even when touched) and looks almost like a tiny brain. When I open my labia and push out as if to pee, it protrudes very slightly. When I finger myself, the back of my vagina is very smooth, but it seems as though the entrance of my vagina is quite corrugated. I've been searching the Internet for the past few hours and have seen a lot of questions like mine but no real answers. I plan on seeing my gyno soon, but can anyone offer me a peace of mind right now? Does this sound like an STI? Has this happened to you?

Thank you SO much for your help!

I was reading the Vulvapedia (or whatever its called, haha) entry about HBC, and its says, like in the instructions on my Yaz package, that I have to take my pill at the same time everyday. it also implies that there is some room for error, though, and I'm just wondering how much room there is. Since taking my first pill on Sunday, I've been taking it between 9 and 930 in the morning--usually at 915, give or take a couple of minutes. Would it be better to try and take it at exactly the same time every day, down to the minute, or is making sure I take it within that half hour safe enough?

I'm also wondering--if I were to experience some side effects from taking HBC, how soon should I expect these side effects to begin? I've been waiting with bated breath since Sunday for side effects to begin, but aside from being a little more down lately (and that could just be because I'm a bit stressed in general) I haven't experienced anything yet. Is it too soon for side effects?

Thanks!

See subject line. I've missed my yearly this year because I don't have a car and no one to get me to the gyno. Normally my boyfriend takes me but he's been swamped with school. It's possible that I could see my mother's OB/GYN once I get home from school, but...

Do I need a pelvic to get my BC prescription renewed? I know this is a question for my doctor, really, but I didn't know if anyone had any experience with this. I'd feel silly calling about it,  if it were really impossible. If I can't get in to see my mom's OB/GYN,  I'm going to have my pelvic as soon as I get back in the Fall.

What do y'all think?

Thanks for your help!

My boyfriend moved across the country for 5 months, taking my sex life with him. It's only month 2, and I find myself sexually frustrated almost everynight.

So, last night, I tried to masturbate(obviously, it's not exactly my forte'). I have pretty small hands and fingers, so fingering didn't work out to my advantage at all. I tried the clitoris alternative, and it actually felt pretty good! But I stopped because it started to feel sore and extra sensitive.

Do you guys have any good masturbation tips? Thank you.
