I thought I might have PCOS when I went off the pill, had horrible hair loss, weight gain, etc. (plus, I was diagnosed with it before, but since I went on the pill shortly after I thought it "went away")
I have really, really bad insurance, so I was putting it off until I started working again. Those symptoms I can deal with.
But lately I have had horrible hypoglycemia. Something like this cannot wait. I had called the doc before, and he said he didn’t think it was PCOS because “it doesn’t cause hair loss”.
So I know I am going into this with a doctor not too familiar with PCOS - but right now I don’t have the ability to shop around. When I get a job, I am going to hightail it to a specialist.
So I have to figure out a way to control the symptoms and/or prove to him that I am a candidate for PCOS. Any webpages, etc to start reading up on? Checklists for symptoms? Books to recommend? I have an appointment for next Wednesday.
Would going back on the pill for a couple of months be possible? (I am on an IUD) Just to control the symptoms until I have the money to actually figure it out. Or, should I push to try metformin?
Any advice, ANYTHING you all have would be very helpful.
