About two months ago I started birth control for the first time. Of course, the doctor warned me that this could cause weight gain up to 10 pounds but I  hurryingly pushed the conversation along and didn't think twice about it. Approximately a week and a half later I started to puff up, my wrists, my ankles, my stomach and of course, not to mention my breasts. I noticed one morning that, in spite of all the water and coffee I was drinking, I wasn't peeing anymore. I drink on average 7 or more glasses of water a day and I usually pee on the hour. After being on the pill for a week or so, I lost all sensation. And when I attempted to pee, not much came. I panicked one day and stopped the pill all together and I've been free of hormones for probably about a month now. Naturally, I'm a pretty thin person. I've never weighed over 110 pounds in my life. I now weigh 122 and I still cannot seem to get the bloat out. And my swollen breasts, there's no chance in hell. I've tried skipping meals, lowering my sodium intake, drinking more water to flush is out, everything. Help, anyone?

I was on Tri-Sprintec

Well, if you stopped peeing, it likely isn't weight. It's water retention. Unfortunately, I don't know what to recommend. I know there are pills you can take, but...I've never had to deal with it. =/

Very odd. You are just retaining water like crazy. Yes there are diuretic pills but I'm not sure of the other health effects of them...probably dehydration, but that seems obvious. I would just try another pill with a different hormone combination. They all seem to affect people individually.

I got really bloated when I went on Loestrin 1.5/30, but it stopped after three months. In the meantime, I just drank water and used Aqua-Ban, which is a diuretic pill.

Yep. But Wal-Mart carded me (seriously, and I'm 26).
