Yeah, I know. I'm posting about yeast again.

Maybe this is off-topic, but I know there are a lot of people here with a more holistic health approach and thought there might be someone who could help point me in the right direction on this one. My period just ended a day or two ago and the yeast is back with a vengeance. After doing some reading and looking around, I'm beginning to wonder if the problem with yeast isn't confined to just my vagina. With that in mind, I tried doing some googling on what to do for systemic yeast, but I haven't found a whole heck of a lot of information. I thought about going to the doctor and requesting Diflucan, but the resources I've seen all say that it's really only helpful for a vaginal infection and won't do much for system-wide issues.

I'm willing to do just about anything here. I already know about the dietary changes to discourage yeast and acidophilus therapy, but that's proven not to be enough. I'm also wondering if maybe the yeast is to blame for why I'm still so freaking tired all the time (I found the personal website of someone with chronic fatigue syndrome who also had candida issues) despite having treated my insulin resistance and thyroid issues.

Okay girls, I'm looking for a good,
possibly low-cost birth control PILL.

No rings, tubes, ect. :]

Your favorite pill?
Pros? Cons? Side Effects?

If needed, here is some info )

Hey, I'm new. My name's Nikki. I've been lurking around this community for about two weeks now, and it seems really amazing. I kept meaning to join, but it kept slipping my mind. Anyway, I really need help.

In the last couple of months (six or so), I noticed two fleshed colored small bumps around my vagina. At first, I thought they were something like an irritation from shaving, but after it didn't go away for a month or two, I gave up that theory. Then I started worrying that it could be genital warts/HPV (which is a possibility because before I met my current boyfriend, i was sort of a friends with benefits with this other guy before I realized that he was sleeping with every girl in the tri-county area). I know the responsible thing would've been to get it checked out, but I'm seventeen, no insurance and the planned parenthood in my area that I paid $50 to for the year "temporarily" closed down for some sort of maintenance, along with every other planned parenthood within a 20 mile radius. This temporary leave of absence has been over 8 months.

Three days ago, One of the bumps started itching. So, naturally, I scratched. Then today I noticed it scabbed over. It was still a bit itchy, so when I was getting undressed to take a shower, I scratched and it peeled off. Then I got afraid of it spreading, so I started scrubbing it with hand soap. After five minutes of compulsive scrubbing, I took a shower. Then paranoia kicked in and I started freaking out that if it is warts, maybe by running my hands over my body, I'm going to spread it all over my body, and I'm going to turn into the wart girl of Southern Florida. Is this possible?

I'm going to drive over an hour tomorrow to go to the closest open PP clinic tomorrow, but if someone can confirm or deny the possibility of this ASAP, that would hopefully calm my fears (or give me a mild heart attack).

Thanks in advance.

All my pregnancy books seem to suggest that natural vaginal lubrication increases during pregnancy. I'm 18 weeks pregnant, though, and I'm finding the opposite. I still have my normal amount of discharge, but during sex I'm completely dry -- and it makes things really uncomfortable! Does anyone know if this is normal? Is it safe to use lube during pregnancy?

Thanks!

So, I'm getting a little concerned about the state of my reproductive system.

I went off of birth control pills back in Feb/March due to migraines. I'd been on them since '99 or so, with only a three month break a few years ago. I've never had the most regular period, but the most I'd ever been late was two weeks.

Flash forward to April 21. This was the day of my last period. On April 27, I broke my ankle and spent three weeks in a cast, and the sprain I got at the same time is still not 100% healed.

Now, it's June 30. I still have not gotten a period, making it almost SIX weeks late. I've taken two pregnancy tests, one "pee-on-a stick" and one blood test, both negative.

Over the past month, I've been experiencing all sorts of unpleasant symptoms usually associated with pregnancy. One week of crazy skin breakouts, heartburn, nausea, aversion to smell, backache, and a six pound weight gain (three over the past two weeks) that I can not explain.

.. so what's the deal? Is my body still out of wack from going off the pill four months ago? Did my ankle injury mess me up? Am I actually pregnant and have somehow managed to fool modern medicine?

I'm usually a pretty smart and rational person, but this nonsense has me ready to tear my hair out!

ok so just thought id throw it out there again asking if anyone has ever bled after sex. And I dont mean just spotting cause that wouldnt freak me out so much. Ive been bleeding after sex for the last couple months but its only been in this last month that I really realized it. I wasnt very active before this. I had sex friday and it was all good and then the fist time sat was fine. After the second time I thought i had like pissed myself and was like wtf. When i got up to go to the bathroom i had blood running down me. I mean like dark red heavyest day of your period blood. The sex was great, I wasnt dry it didnt hurt or anything. Im just kinda worried cause when i google it it says there might be a chance for cancer.

HSV test.

hello ladies. i've been reading every entry about being tested for herpes & what-not..and honestly, i'm a little confused. i know it is possible have herpes for a while without any symptoms, but if you do not have any lesions on your genital area, they can give you a blood test, right...but it won't tell you what type you have? or how long you've had it?

Hello!!

I have a really quick question that I unfortunately need answered fast! I'm filling out medical insurance forms because my company's insurance got canceled...

I was diagnosed with genital HSV 1 about a month and a half ago. Is this something I need to mention on my insurance application? People with oral HSV don't need to... but I did take medication for it.

Ugh. I hate this. :P Thanks for any help.

Hi ladies! I've mentioned this in a few threads before, but I'm doing a research project on virginity in contemporary American culture, and I've been reading lots of books for teen girls that push abstinence as one aspect of my project. I'm reading a book right now called The Power of Abstinence, and I just had to post to see if something the author is claiming is true or not.

In a chapter on "myths" about sex, the author writes that "The pill actually makes you more susceptible to getting an STD. That's because it changes the tissues in the vagina, rendering them more susceptible to infection."

Now. I know YIs can be a side effect of HBC, but I have never heard of it causing physical changes that can make a woman more likely to get an STI. Some of the other "facts" in this book are not true, and much of the author's data is from studies from the 1980s, and she doesn't cite any of her sources. I know that abstinence-only advocates often claim that the pill results in higher STI contraction rates because sometimes girls and women on the pill forego condoms since they're covered with regard to pregnancy, but I've never read any claim like this before. So I'm curious - does anyone know if there is any validity to this?

i've been wondering about this for a week now, and while it doesn't have much of an impact on my life right now it would be interesting to know the answer. i got my period last week while on a round of antibiotics for a completely unrelated infection. i tend to have horrific cycles; i get sick, i hemorraghe at least once a cycle, i got diagnosed with PMS (yes i know that's sort of controversial but that's where it stands). this month it was almost like the perfect cycle-- i didn't bleed too much, no cramping, i didn't get sick.

is there some connection between antibiotics and menstruation? like i said i think it would be interesting to know even if it's not all that relevant still, it's not like i'm going to run out and look for a prescription just so i have a decent cycle.

i'm starting a program at notre dame this fall (in south bend, in), and will be on their student insurance.  since it's a catholic school, they don't cover anything related to contraceptives, and i'm assuming that the docs at their student health center aren't going to be particularly helpful if i walk in with a question about my friendly little iud.  so, does anyone know of any good iud-friendly gynos in the south bend/mishawaka area, or anywhere in northern indiana? i searched the doctor listings here and on iud divas, but couldn't find anything.
thanks!

I've noticed that a lot of posters here have problems with ingrown hairs after shaving (myself included).

I always had miserable ingrown hair problems 2-3 days after I'd shave my area.
Recently I started a new routine... I exfoliate with St. Ives Apricot scrub beforehand, then shave. Afterwards I apply "Tea tree oil freshner by the Body shop" It worked great for everything, especially bikini line but check first for sensitivity.

Just thought I'd pass the tip and the great product along...

Been on birth control for almost a year. I know that when you first start using BC, you should use a 2nd method like a condom but I was wondering is that that's only for the first month right? After so many months, once you start a new pack (on time!), it's just immediatly affective right? I mean i know the answers, but still get paranoid.

me and my bf used to use condoms along with the birth control pills no matter what time of the month but now we don't anymore so it was a big step in my paranoia :) lol I just wanna be reassured that I have nothing to worry about as long as ive been taking my pills religiously. Note: he also doesnt ejaculate inside ever.

Thankx for any replys! :)

Ok having some weirdness. I recently had my appendix out, almost 3 weeks ago. Almost two weeks after I had it out, I had sex and immediately afterwards I started bleeding and it hasn't stopped.I've been bleeding for about two weeks. Its not heavy and tends to be bright red. Its not my period as thats not due for another week or so. I'm just alittle nervous. I went to my doctor and she said I had little cuts on my cervix and thats what was causing it, but she has been wrong bout things before. I'm wondering if maybe the anesthesia may have caused my period to pop up early and be longer or if I just had sex too soon or if anyone has any ideas as to what is going on with me. I'm kinda tired of bleeding randomly. Any help or advice would be nice. Thanks

'sup, peeps.

I'm really, really sorry if this has been answered before, but I don't have the time or the means to check the memories right now. I'm gonna have to check the responses on the Blackberry. So mods, if this has been answered before, please be kind enough not to delete it for now.

So today I had anal sex because I'm on my period. This is only the 2nd time I've done it, and the first time I got a mindblowingly painful UTI. I'm worried it'll happen again so I'm trying to take some precautions. I peed after the sex (admittedly like 30-45 minutes after) and I took some AZO cranberry pills, plus an over-the-counter UTI pill called Cystex. I want to pick up some cranberry juice before work or during my dinner break though, just for some added effect.

So tell me. I know unsweetened cranberry juice is the way to go, but what about artificial sweeteners? Splenda or Sweet and Low or cranberry cocktails -- yes or no? The taste is pure, unadulterated cranberry juice is like taking a punch in the babymaker. Some sugar substitute would be nice. But if any hint of sweetness will ruin the effect, I'll choke it down.

Thanks!!! *races off to work*

Slightly off topic, but I swear it relates.
I'm in an online English class and we're working on research papers. One classmate is writing a paper on Gardasil and the debates surrounding it. This was a response to the classmate once they had focused their topic and announced it.

"Your topic is very interesting. Personally, I believe one can prevent STD's by not
sleeping around and picking the right spouse. Instead of relying on a vaccine, parents
should be more accountable for their kids and teach them abstinence. That is just my
opinion but I am looking forward towards your progress and research on this topic."
-A guy in the class

For some reason it's annoying me, a lot. Anyone have any info I can give this guy to the contrary or is he right? I've been doing some Googling and looked at some information from the Nemours Foundation but I have to say it's a foundation I know almost nothing about, except for a short Wikipedia entry that gives only history of the foundation.

Opinions? Comments?

So I've recently joined this community because I'm honestly beside myself and tried to ask friends, look online and come up with nothing really. I would like all of your inputs and I will keep googling different methods of BC that help periods....

So here is me in a nutshell: 25 years old. Virgin (so I don't take bc for the main reason-no preggos) and have had a pretty normal 5-7 period until 2002. I got my period for 2 weeks every 2 weeks. My general physician who gives me my yearly pap put me on BC. I believe it was ortho-novum 28. I was horribly moody, I guess I gained a little weight and I have had acne issues before this. After 1 year I was like screw this moodiness (I got severely depressed and suicidal sometimes) and stopped it. I felt better but my period came back to be screwy which was expected I guess. Then I went on ortho-tricyclen. Again, moodiness. I've been on it for at least a year right now and I can say that this is how my period goes: 1 week before I get cramps sometimes. I get extremely sensitive (my skin, my mind) and usually get very angry or emotional during the week of my period. I hate this and am tired of it because its the only problem that comes up with me and my fiance. We are usually great and some people may say hey deal with it but I would really like to live with less moodiness if I have to take something to sustain my period and keep it normal. I've read the different BC articles/entries in here. What are some of my options? Other than taking a new pill.. because I really don't want to take it. I also have a problem with taking the pill at the same time every day no matter if I set alarms or whichever, I seem to always have trouble and this is another reason I get emotional because its not stable sometimes. And I'm getting married in a year and do not wish to go to condoms when we start to have sex, I'd like to not get pregnant for the first few years.
(btw when I say moodiness, I mean extreme case not like youre moody one day or for a few hours. This is become a serious problem that I can not take lightly anymore)

DEPO- doesn't seem like it would be recommended for my situation
Implanon - I don't know ? What do you guys think? I read the one implanon post where some girls said they had it done and had spotting then one girl had no period for 2 yrs. I never heard of this form of bc until coming to this community.
Patch - ?
Nuva ring- ?
Yaz - This is what my sister strongly suggests bc she gets really moody too and thinks it will help me, she said shes tryin it and gonna let me know how it works out- Have any of you used it? What was it like?

Anyway, I want less moodiness, my libido back and less cramps (i bet some of you are thinking, don't we all?). So since I'm taking bc for regulation of my period what do you guys suggest for me??? Thanks for any feedback :)

I'm 99% sure I have a YI, I've had them plenty of times before (used to get them ALL the time before I had my kids). I've got the discharge and the itch, but my itch is actually up around my clitoris, and nowhere near the actual opening of my vagina.
Plus, the itch is coupled by severe irritation that's bordering on painful. I'm also slightly swollen. Has this happened to anyone else during a YI?

I know I should go to my doctors, but to be completely honest (and this is extremely embarassing for me to admit) the itching was getting so out of control that I hastily (and obviously so) shaved most of my pubic hair off in an attempt to minimise the irritation. So at the moment my Vag really looks like someone attacked it with the hedge clippers :(

I was on the Depo Provera BC shot, but am now a little overdue for my second shot. My diet has recently changed in that I'm on a meal replacement diet and I'm having MUCH less bread/pasta/rice than I have had in the past. Which seems strange that I would get a yeastie NOW with LESS yeast products in my system???

Any opinions?
Thanks!!
