Hi!
I posted last week about having had unprotected sex during possible ovulation day, when I had just started taking Yasmin (I'd taken 6 pills). I took emergency pills afterwards, and I'm trying to remain positive and calm. But I definitely want to take a pregnancy test as soon as it's possible.

My question is this:

I started taking Yasmin on a Sunday, but not the first day of my cycle. It was the 11th day of my cycle. I'm currently down to five pills left in the pack, and my period is due anytime from the 21st-23rd. Should I finish the rest of the pack, or should I stop on the 21st to see if I get my period on time?

Also, I bought a pregnancy test that says I can use it one week after my period is due. I'd just like some clarification whether being on the pill, and having taken the morning after pills, would have an effect on the test.. or if it would still be accurate.

Am I right in assuming that, seeing as my period is due between the 21st-23rd, it would be best to take the test on the 1st of next month?

I also have an unrelated question. Ever since I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, my sex drive has been really, really high. Normally I have a low sex drive. I'm wondering if this is because of the fact my boyfriend finally had sex with me (he was abstaining because of his faith, but it was really stressing me out so when he finally had sex with me, I was so happy)... or if it's some sort of mind-body thing that is a sign that I'm pregnant. Sorry if it sounds whacky, but I'm just curious... has anyone experienced heightened sex drive soon after they got pregnant?

Thank you for any advice!

Apologies in advance for a non-vulva post.

This morning I had some mild pain around the nipple of my left breast. I wrote it off as regular menstrual soreness, but later I realized there was a dark red/purple bump right in the crevice of the nipple. My first thought was that it was a tick (I know, ew!), but after some further inspection it did seem to be part of me. There's no discharge, but it's very sensitive, not to mention unsightly. It's about the size of a head of a pin and when my nipple is relaxed it takes on the color surrounding it, but when the nipple is erect it becomes more purple and sticks out.

I really have no clue what it might be and I'm trying to get a doctor's appointment for later in the week. Any ideas?

so the other day my boy and i were getting really hot and heavy, we'd not seen eachother all week and he was having a field day on me, he'd given me a few orgasms before he flips me over and wants to penetrate my ass. Being the gentleman he is, he attempts to check things out with a finger beforehand, but i guess was a little too aggressive and I reeled in searing pain.

like, tears came to my eyes pain. He was obviously concerned...  but after a few moments i felt better, and we continued on with playing, obviously NOT with that area, but things were ok.

fastforward to today and i'm still having bits and pieces of pain. Every once in a while it just twinges, feels internal probably where the second ring of muscle is...

should i be concerned about this? I feel mostly ok, have had normal bowel movements with little discomfort... but still i feel just a teeny bit paranoid.

I, too, apologize for a breast question, but "breasts" and "breast exams" are listed in the interests, so...

I am having horrible pain/soreness/tenderness in my nipples/breasts. I am due to start my period on Saturday, but this has been going on for a week. I have never had breast issues as part of my PMS, so I wanted to ask those of you who do:

Is it like this every month? Two weeks worth of pain? I couldn't sleep the night before last it hurt so bad. Will it be that bad every month? Is yours made better by wearing a sports bra to sleep, maybe? I'm just looking for a little help easing the pain or maybe even reassurance that I won't have to suffer like this monthly.

[BTW, I'm 24 and on microgestin 28-day BCP, if that affects anything. I also don't show any signs of infection, haven't switched soaps, etc. This is why I am assuming it's just a new addition to my PMS. If you have another idea, let me know. My Montgomery's tubercles are a little more noticeable and my nipples seem to almost always be at attention, too...]

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know how long it takes a UTI to develop after sex?
[identity profile] acs80.livejournal.com
Okay, I know the title of this post sounds weird, but let me explain. When I first became sexually active about seven or eight years ago, I had never even heard of a UTI before, nor had I ever had one. Sex with my first partner was fine, and I never had any infections. After he and I broke up, I started dating my next boyfriend, who was very well-endowed, so sometimes sex would be a little painful, despite using tons of lube. One night after having sex with him, I got my first UTI, which was a doozy. One of those where your pee is dark red and the pain is mind-blowing. The experience was so painful and terrifying that I've never forgotten the pain and horror of it all. After that point, I'd get UTIs every few months or so, which I'd treat with antibiotics. He and I later broke up, and in my next relationship, I got UTIs so frequently that I eventually had to start taking prophylactic antibiotics every time I had sex. This treated the problem, but I HATED taking so much medication. Anyway, he and I eventually broke up.

Now I'm with my current boyfriend, and I've been with him for about two years. About a year ago, I decided I didn't want to take the prophylactic meds anymore, since they made me feel really lousy and were giving me gastrointestinal problems. So I started using a supplement called D-Mannose after sex and being really vigilant about super careful hygiene before and after sex. I haven't had a UTI in the year since I stopped taking the antibiotics, but still, every time I have sex, I'm SO PARANOID that I'm going to get a UTI. I spend the next day after sex freaking out that I'm going to get an infection. And the worst part is, my boyfriend and I rarely have sex because I'm so scared it's going to give me a UTI...I know this is taking its toll on our relationship.

Can anyone else relate to this problem? I know it's kind of a weird thing to post about, but it's ruining the quality of my relationship, and my life! How can I continue to have sex now, without letting it scare the crap out of me?

Thank you!

Hi there,

My body seems to be one big mess lately, and I'm trying to make sense of it all but am tired of the millions of "get pregnant now!" websites that only semi-relate to what's going on with me.

First off, I had been on the pill for 3 years, all the while getting breakthrough bleeding for 2 weeks of the pack. Basically I was only free of bleeding for one week a month, and this was for multiple pill brands. Nothing ever got better.

So I went off the pill a few months ago, and my first cycle was perfectly fine, however the next one showed up just two weeks after the last one ended (during sex too, ack!). The next period didn't show up for a month and a half, probably because it knew I was going away for the weekend and wanted to show up then. So I took pills again for one week, just BARELY winning the hold-off-battle. That one ended May 4th, two weeks ago.

Around 4 or 5 days ago I started getting REALLY itchy, and burning, and not much discharge at all, but if it was it was thick but didn't smell or anything. I figured at the time the itchiness could have been razor burn.

I was irresponsible and had unprotected sex 4 days ago. He pulled out, he was certain he did, and I was certain he did (I don't know about you but I can tell when a guy finishes off in me..) But there wasn't much of a mess to clean up at all. This worried him, and I was confident that it was all fine.

Itchiness continues. I google it and realize I probably have a yeast infection. Last night I took one of those one-treatment tabs before I went to bed, but this morning I woke up and I'm spotting! On my freshly washed sheets and everything! Ugh.
Yeast infection symptoms are gone, but now I'm spotting and have mild cramping. I'm starting to get paranoid now, as any website around tells me it could be ovulation bleeding, or implantation bleeding. I'm desperately praying it's the former. Last night I felt a tug on the left side and some light cramping but nothing came of it until this morning.
Could the bleeding also be a result of the yeast infection medication?

This was a bit of a ramble, but I'm hoping someone could offer some insight...

Thought this was hilarious, and had to share.

Okay, I know I'm posting a lot about UTIs today, so forgive me!

Anyway, I bought some female condoms the other day and my boyfriend and I used one for the first time a few nights ago. It was unexpectedly nice -- it didn't make any weird sounds like I thought it would, it was easy to use, it didn't break. Not bad!

I was wondering what your take would be on this idea: do you think the female condom might lessen the chance of getting a UTI? Let's say that I pee before sex to flush out the area and then insert the female condom. Now, when you're having sex with a male condom, the penis can potentially move a lot of bacteria around as it's fiddling around down there, right? But I'm thinking, with a female condom, you already have that barrier made between the urethra and the perineal area...so wouldn't that help prevent movement of E.Coli into the urethra? Or am I just being hopeful and is this all wishful thinking?

Just wanted to get your two cents on this one.

Thanks again!

Hello all!
So, I'm a very paranoid person when it comes to pregnancy. I have an anxiety disorder called Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and have struggled with being a sexually liberated person, and a person who is terrified of getting pregnant.

Anyway, I'm on the pill and me and my boyfriend use condoms.

Monday of last week, I messed up on my pill and possibly started ovulating, and then on Wendsday me and my boyfriend had sex. We used a condom, but I'm still worried.

I usually start my period either yesterday (Monday) or today (Tuesday). So my question is, if I took an at home pregnancy test, would the results be accurate? It's not 14 days after sex, but it is the day of my expected period.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

So...I no longer think my SO is degrading me/wants others/doesn't find me attractive or anything else. We are however continually crashing into a giant brick wall. He doesn't like my boobs. While I was previously I don't want to change my body for anyone and if he hated it that much he could leave but that doens't help the fact that he doesn't like them. Anyone know how to deal with a partner not liking a pretty important part of you? I wonder I should break up with him over it but after all the other stuff, it seems trivial. It probably is. But unfortunately it still hurts, so I could do with some advice. What would you do if your partner didn't like a part of you, not because they find it repulsive, just because it's not what they're used to/their preference?

Alright, I'll preface this by saying that the internet has turned me into total hypochondriac. A google search of the slightest symptom... and your average headache turns into an inoperable brain tumor. So, I realize this may seem like nothing to some people and if you're of that opinion, it's cool, I completely get it... just humor me anyway :)

Onto my concern, I've been experiencing an unusual sensation upon orgasm. I'm kind of reluctant to call it a pain, because it doesn't really hurt persay... it's feels kind of like a really mild cramp about 5-6 inches below my belly button. There's no sign of it before or after, only during the orgasm. This afternoon, I did a little masturbatory research (hands down, the best kind of research around) and I noticed that it's not as pronounced when I take out my Nuvaring, so I think it's safe to say that's the area of concern.

I'm not sure exactly how long I've been experiencing it; I want to say the first time was maybe 2 months ago and it's been consistent every time since (which albeit, has only been 4-5 times, as this whole thing has been kind of a buzzkill for my masturbatory habits).

The symptom itself isn't really my concern, so much as what could possibly be causing it. Good little hypochondriac that I am, I had myself convinced the other night that it was the early stages of endometriosis and that I'd never be able to conceive and blah blah blah, my poor boyfriend there to bare the brunt of my little breakdown.

Anyway, I just wanted to get some outside opinions on what this could possibly be. I'm reluctant to go to my college's clinic for what people thusfar are telling me doesn't sound like a huge concern. Not to mention the fact that I'm uninsured and can't really afford anything beyond a pelvic exam and your standard lab tests.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I literally just joined this community about 10 seconds ago

Anyway, I have a question that you guys can probably help me with. My urethra sticks out from between my labia by about a centimetre or so and it can become uncomfortable.

I can't find the answer elsewhere and was just wondering whether or not this could be a medical problem?

Oh and this is my first post, so if I've done something wrong feel free to tell me and I'll correct it asap

Thanks in advance!

I haven't gotten my period in about three months. I'm at a healthy weight, 5'4" and about 125 lbs, I eat pretty well, and I've had a regular period since i was 12 (I'm 15 now). So I'm basically just wondering- is this normal, or should I be worried? :\

Thanks in advance! (:

Hi,

Someone from the LJ community
[Unknown site tag]
recommended I post the following questions here as I might get some response...I would appreciate any feedback please!

if these questions aren't exactly related, I'm sorry, I just don't know where else to ask...

1. Yesterday my partner and I began to play with each other. He put his penis in me, but we don't think he went in all the way. So, am I still a virgin?
Is there anyway to tell if my hymen has been broken by him? Yesterday when we were finished, I felt awful, but I think I was soo stressed worrying about
what might happen from what we did yesterday...

2. I've been taking Ortho Evra for several years now, and applied my first new patch of 3 during my period week, Thursday. Since our playing around yesterday I haven't bled or anything, so does this more than likely
mean I'm ok? I've never missed a period ever before and now I'll have to wait at least 2-3 weeks before my next one comes! I know the patch is like 99%
accurate, so I'm not really worried about becoming pregnant, I'm just wondering if/when I'd see any effects from my escapade yesterday.

3. Finally, does semen stain furniture? We've been playing on the couch, and I just don't want there to be any evidence if possible.

If anyone could please answer some and/or all these questions, I would sincerely appreciate it!!!

Thanks!

So, in an update from my post yesterday, I took Plan B. I was in a county different from mine and the ladies at the health department were incredibly nice to see me just as they were about to close, I called them in advance and told them it was an emergency and they seemed more than happy to take me. But, I think, because they were in a rush to get out, they gave me little information and had me take both pills at once. They didn't have me fill out much paperwork either.

I have had to take the morning after pill once before and I was given the option of taking one and then the taking the other twelve hours later, but they insisted I take them both at the same time, so I did. Fast forward to today, I still feel nauseous, I have an awful migraine, and I just feel generally miserable.

Which made me think, I should be on some form of birth control, but in my experience, it has done nothing but make my migraines worse. I have only tried OTC, but both experiences with morning after pills have made me miserable, as well.

So, for you ladies who get migraines, do you take a form of HBC? Does it make your migraines worse? Any suggestions for some form of HBC that won't make my head feel like it's about to explode are welcome.
[identity profile] sour-suite.livejournal.com
So about four - five days ago i noticed some spotting, no biggie i'm still in the first three months with a new HBC and even though in my entire life I have never spotted I just pushed it off as my body changing. Well cut to today when i'm emptying my cup ever 3-4 hours and it's almost filled. Finally I have relented and my mom being the sweet woman that she is is going to call my doctors office in the morning. Lets just say i'm freaking out, which I am. Normally even on my heaviest days I don't get my cup half filled and now ever 3-4 hours and it's almost filled, i'm just well I'm just on the sane side of crying.  And I normally have the worst cramps, like I have been given a script from my doc of muscle relaxers for every period just so I can function. And the last few days the cramps have been next to nothing, but then my legs have been going numb because of the pain I'm thinking.

S anyways I'm going to the doctor tomorrow but am just wondering a few things.

1. I know i've seen it before but how much is TO much blood to lose?

2. What could be causing this? Could it be my reaction this time to the pill, i've been on this one before with no troubles and only went off it because of money issues.

Thank you all so much, I have posted here before and you were all a great help.

Righto. I posted about a similar problem a little over six months ago. There is a little red line above...well, I'm not sure WHAT it's called, but it's above the clit, under the mound. Anyways, it's a small red line. It looks like a scratch. It's pretty small, probably half an inch long. If I pull on the skin around the area it hurts. It feels tight and is basically uncomfortable. I can really only feel when I pull on the skin.

It's been there for, like I saidm a little over 6 months. Sometimes it doesn't bother me very much at all and I forget about it for a month or so.

Last night I had sex for the first time in about 9 months (used condoms, btw). Today I was feeling pretty sore and was checking stuff out when I saw that the red line was now accompanied by another one, and both were raised (again, like a new scratch would be, but it never was raised before). Both are uncomfortable if you pull on the skin around.

I really don't know what this is. I've looked at a ton of different std/sti sights, and nothing sounds very similar. I will be going to the doctor soon to check it out; I'm kicking myself for never having mentioned it before, it never seemed like a big deal and I kept forgetting about it.

But, hopefully if anyone has any ideas and can give me some info I would not die from worry before I go to the doctor.

Thanks!

Earlier today I went to a public bathroom in my school after my morning lecture class. I was kinda mad when I saw pee on the toilet seat. This got me thinking about germophobic culture in the US. I feel like a lot of girls refuse to sit on a toilet seat because they think it's gross.

What is perhaps more disturbing to me is the sheer amount of girls who have told me that they are POSITIVE that they can catch all manner of STDs from toilet seats. I'm not really sure how this urban legend came around, but as far as I know that's exactly what it is - a legend.

Personally, I suppose I have a different outlook - my mother is a physical therapist and I'm planning on becoming a physician, so I've lived for a long time knowing that contact with germs doesn't mean you're going to get sick, and that germs are everywhere, not just on places that seem "gross" like toilet seats. I always sit on toilet seats because I feel that my thighs touching a toilet is way less likely to get me sick than something like being in a classroom with someone who won't stop sneezing.

But I'm curious about how the rest of you feel about it. My questions for discussion:

- Do you sit on public toilets? Why or why not?
- What about public bathrooms in general - do you use a napkin to touch doors, etc?
- Do you think that Western culture is too germophobic? What's up with all these urban legends about catching diseases (not just STDs) from things like toilet seats?

I should add that I'm amused by my feelings about germs as I suffer from some pretty severe obsessive-compulsive disorder! I just don't obsess about germs. I guess the stereotype doesn't fit me.
