Okay so about two weeks ago I got what looked like my period (shoulda been, it was on time). But, it wasn't a lot, and I don't think it was constant bleeding cause the blood would be real dark when I went to change the pad. And over the course of that 4 or 5 days I didn't even use many pads. Also, there was no cramps.

Now today I have slight cramps and more period like bleeding. Well that was this morning. Now its bleeding but it seems to have slowed down a lot.

I normally have heavy, cramp filled periods.

I am not on birth control. The only meds I'm on are thyroid meds which I just started about when I got that first "period."

I have sex about once a week, with a condom.

So the question is, what's up with this random bleeding?

Thanks!

Hello vagina pals!

I am writing regarding pricing of STI/STD testing. After checking the memories, I haven't found what I was looking for. I have heard many people say that they get tested once a year or so. However, when I was tested (an "everything" test), the test cost about $500 - mighty steep for a college student. Is this normal for OB-GYNs? Where would one go to get tested for a more reasonable price? I believe that my university health clinic is also on the expensive end.

Thank you for the vulva-protecting advice!

Ok, so... A little background history... Last month, my boyfriend and I got interrupted... (obviously had to stop) and since then we hadn't done anything until last week. My issue here is... A.) I was supposed to start on the 14th, and I haven't yet... Being 1 week late is relatively normal for me, but not 2. B.)  We always use condoms, and this time, he pulled out. (I know nothing is full proof, but still) Last but not least, C.) I took a pregnancy test on Monday, and it said "Not Pregnant"... so my question is... Why am I so late? I was told stress can make your cycle change, which I understand, but I don't really think I've been very stressed... is it possible to be stressed but not really realizing it?

I don't know, hopeful you all will have some advice and or knowledge I don't know about.

Thank You In Advance!

Okay, I was talking with this guy and he told me that he smelled a woman's vaginal odor at church..he "claimed" everytime she would move or cross her legs he smelled "fish" or a loud "perchy" smell traveling a few seats down.

I asked if perhaps she was wearing a dress or a skirt. He said no. She was wearing jeans. I asked if he was sure this was vaginal odor, and he was positive.

I don't believe him. He's kinda sexist anyway. Although, I had a female friend claim she smelled a girl on her period in a clothing store before, she said it was a loud fishy smell that you couldn't ignore.

Now, I have smelled bad odors from others before, like mustiness from not wearing deodorant or from sweat, or just plain funk. But I have never smelled a woman's vaginal odor unless I went right after her in a restroom stall. Other than that, how can you smell this "fishy" aroma through her clothes? Is this guy being foolish?

So first question I have is about UTIs. Some may remember that I posted about having one a few days ago. Since then I have taken 3 doses of a antibiotic and I feel better. The last pill I took was yesterday. How long should I wait before having sex again?

Second question it a little OT. For the past 2-3 weeks, I've had this constant gas. Sounds gross, I know. I really don't know why, and it is really annoying. Is there anything I can do to get it to stop. Any ideas why its happening? If not, oh well.

Thanks in advance.

Hey! Some background info about me: I had sex for the first time this past November. Since then, I've had sex two more times. Other than that I've been very inactive, and have never had any "scares," mystery bumps, rashes, or even yeasties in my life. I've been lucky enough to have a very quiet and well-behaved vagina. Recently, a couple of things have happened that scared me badly enough to make an appointment with Planned Parenthood to get a full exam, but I thought I'd come here to ask a few questions before then (it's in 10 days, which is way too far away!).

1. Does anyone have any information about hymenal tags, or carunculae myrtiformes? The reason I ask is because I assume my hymen has been broken/stretched recently, as prior to sex I really couldn't fit anything more than a super-slim-junior-skinny tampon in there. I am hoping that these little "skin tag"-looking things that have appeared just around the opening to my vagina are hymenal tags and not genital warts, but it's really hard to get a good grasp of what either look like, especially the hymenal tags. The bumps really just have the texture of the rest of the skin around there, but my opening to my vaginal canal has, to the best of my knowledge, always been very smooth, with no bumps or lumps.

2. On the inside of one inner labia, I kind of have a ridge of tiny raised bumps or abrasions (skin-colored), with one white-headed bump. Are these just pimples? Why are they in a line? What the hell? I recently used a lotion around there that ended up making my face break out similarly, but I didn't think that inner labia (the mucous membrane) could get zits, and especially in a suspicious little ridge like that.

Thank you for any insight...and again, I am going to get it checked out...I just need a little help falling asleep at night until then.

Okay...so my boyfriend and I have been having sex for a few months, but we're long distance, so we've really only had sex maybe ten times.

My problem is that I don't find it that enjoyable. At all. I feel like because he's just sticking this thing in me I don't really have much control over it, nor do I ever get off unless he rubs my clit when we're having sex, which happens occasionally. We've tried different positions, but generally, no matter which way we try, I get my cervix rammed, it hurts going in, it burns when he pulls out...I could go on.

I think part of my frustration stems from the fact that he thinks the sex is great...and I do have fun during it because we do get to be so close, but the actual physical sensations are less than fantastic. And I know I'm not broken because I can't orgasm from penetration but it's just so frustrating that he has no problem getting off and I'm just kind of like...wow, great, I'm glad you had fun.

I've tried different lubes and we've tried different condoms to help with the discomfort, but I'm concerned that the lube on the condoms is what's causing the burning (because my lube doesn't give me any problems by itself), and I have looked everywhere for unlubed large condoms (he's pretty girthy) and I just can't seem to find any to try.

We haven't really talked about this, and I've been meaning to bring it up, but I just kind of needed to get it all out first. I just feel like he has way more fun than I do and I think I'm just jealous that I can't enjoy it that much. I don't want to have to compromise how good it feels for him by making him go slower or not as deep or whatever, but it would also be great to not be so uncomfortable.

I'm kind of at the point where I just don't want to have sex anymore because it's much more enjoyable for me when he fingers me or goes down on me...any suggestions?

Thanks ladies.

I got very frustrated today. I've been meaning to make a gyno appointment, but almost all doctors in my area are males.
I can't exactly explain why I have such an issue with male gynecologists. I know that they are qualified and professional, but I just don't feel like I want a guy telling me "this is going to feel like..." and "this won't hurt...", things like that.
So my question is, what's the opinion from you ladies?

Background info to this post and my last one )

In my last post here the word "sex-negative" got thrown around a bit and while I don't like thinking of myself as that because I never used to be I think I'm definitely more negative than I was due to my circumstances. Does anyone have any stories/links/ideas/actions/anything at all really that is about either being or becoming sex-positive? Even just how you feel about yourself/your partner after having sex. I'm mainly looking for stuff about sex with a SO but if it's positive I'd still love to hear it. It doesn't have to be directly related about my particular situation (in fact I would rather if it wasn't about how wonderful porn is). Thanks!

Does eating a meal either right before or after taking BC affect its potency?

honestly, how do you feel about anal?

EDIT: any tips/tricks/advice for a first-timer?

The same old question, but with a different twist. I am coming off Effexor with the hopes that my sex drive will return. Anyone with the same experience? How long until you felt some effects off the medicine? Anyone who didn't switch to something else and just ended all together?

I am at 112.5mg now from 150mg with a week to go until I cut down to 75mg.

Found elsewhere around the place: scans from a 1964 reprint on a book by a (male) English doctor called "Woman and Love", where he explains why it's a shame that women have recently learned the "technical term" orgasm. (Click to enlarge; transcription follows scans.)

So, I plan on having a fun time next weekend with one of my guy friends but I think I might be getting my period during that time. I went off of the pill 3 months ago. My question is whether or not its possible to go on the pill temporarily just to skip my period for that short amount of time. Would that even work? Has anyone tried this before? It would be most fantastic if this could work.

Hi ladies,

I have been having a lot of problems lately and I was hoping some of you might have some advice. I had an IUD inserted in January which partially expelled within a week, but was not removed for a month due to a wait for ultrasound.

During that period I developed what seemed like a UTI and was put on 2 seperate lots of antibiotics. I never had a urine culture done, but preliminary urine dip tests were negative as were cervical swab tests for chlamydia and a couple of other things which I now don't remember.

In February I had the IUD removed and a second one put in. Throughout the presence of both IUD's my discharge has changed, I get spotting most days and weird stringy/gelatinous goopy bits. About a week or two ago I started to get very watery discharge which was irritating my vulva and anus quite badly. I didn't go to the doctors, hoping it'd go away but it has developed into burning and pain when urinating.

I went for an ultrasound to check the placement of the second IUD yesterday, and they diagnosed me with a functional ovarian cyst and told me that the abdominal pain and bladder pressure I've had could be coming from that. Last night my vagina was so dry and sore that I resorted to getting up in the middle of the night to put on yoghurt and had to take a sleeping tablet to get any rest at all because I was so uncomfortable. When I felt inside, I got very gritty white lumps of discharge. This morning it was much the same.

When I went to work I went into the chemist and basically begged them for some Yeast Infection treatment. (I have never had one before but I explained about my symptoms and the fact I'd been on antibiotics recently.) They gave me a Fluconazole 150mg tablet. Since then my symptoms seem to have eased up compared to yesterday though this evening I have a lot of discomfort again.

Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with my doctor. I handed in a urine culture a few days ago so hopefully there might be results from that back when I go in.

Do you guys think it is likely to be a Yeast Infection? I am scared of the chances I could have PID. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

Emma

I've just invested in my first 'rabbit' vibrator and so far I'm loving it, though I've not yet had an orgasm with it. Usually I masturbate using only my fingers and the occasional dildo, so having vibrations and motorised movement is a bit of a novelty!

I feel like such a novice for asking this. Does anyone have any tips and tricks for using it in such a way to get off with it?!

I am taking OTC Lo and am currently on week 3. Just tonight when I went to take my pill, I realized I had taken today's pill yesterday and had forgotten (skipped) yesterdays.

AKA: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday...

Will I be OK if I just take Wednesday's pill today?

*note to self: do not take pills while sleepy!*
