Hi ladies,

I have been having a lot of problems lately and I was hoping some of you might have some advice. I had an IUD inserted in January which partially expelled within a week, but was not removed for a month due to a wait for ultrasound.

During that period I developed what seemed like a UTI and was put on 2 seperate lots of antibiotics. I never had a urine culture done, but preliminary urine dip tests were negative as were cervical swab tests for chlamydia and a couple of other things which I now don't remember.

In February I had the IUD removed and a second one put in. Throughout the presence of both IUD's my discharge has changed, I get spotting most days and weird stringy/gelatinous goopy bits. About a week or two ago I started to get very watery discharge which was irritating my vulva and anus quite badly. I didn't go to the doctors, hoping it'd go away but it has developed into burning and pain when urinating.

I went for an ultrasound to check the placement of the second IUD yesterday, and they diagnosed me with a functional ovarian cyst and told me that the abdominal pain and bladder pressure I've had could be coming from that. Last night my vagina was so dry and sore that I resorted to getting up in the middle of the night to put on yoghurt and had to take a sleeping tablet to get any rest at all because I was so uncomfortable. When I felt inside, I got very gritty white lumps of discharge. This morning it was much the same.

When I went to work I went into the chemist and basically begged them for some Yeast Infection treatment. (I have never had one before but I explained about my symptoms and the fact I'd been on antibiotics recently.) They gave me a Fluconazole 150mg tablet. Since then my symptoms seem to have eased up compared to yesterday though this evening I have a lot of discomfort again.

Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with my doctor. I handed in a urine culture a few days ago so hopefully there might be results from that back when I go in.

Do you guys think it is likely to be a Yeast Infection? I am scared of the chances I could have PID. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you

Emma
