I recently asked about pain during sex and my long-distance relationship, and I got lots of great advice! Thanks so much.

One comment that came up several times was that I could try penetration on my own to see if that was any better. Soooooo, now that I'm in the market, I am wondering... Has anybody tried Good Vibration's Your Cast Member kit (or any other make-your-own-dildo kit)? if so, what was your experience with it (making it, using it, etc.)? I'm interested but would like to get some feedback on it before I shell out the 99 bucks and try to talk my boyfriend into making a mold of his penis. :-/

I just trimmed my pubic hair for the first time ever. I don't really want to shave or get rid of all of it, it was just getting bothersome with the hairs being so long. Is what i did okay? It looks and feels sorta funny. Ugh. I hate having hair down there! it's so uncomfortable.
Also, my bf started fingering me lately so i guess i have been feeling more self conscious about it. but he has it too so...its normal and shouldnt gross/weird him out. but still. And...sometimes afterwards it gets itchy. it that normal? like, he fingered me yesterday and today I have been itchy down there occasionally.

ExpandI ramble a lot. )
So question: Has anyone else experienced several days of bleeding as a result of orgasm every time they have one? I have a gyno appointment for other things soon, and I will probably try to bring it up. Just wanted to get some sort of feedback from other people.
ExpandAnd now, whingeing about how frustrating this is. )

So...I lied..I said that was my last question. But, bah. Anyways, a few minutes ago I was using the bathroom and changing my pad to a pantiliner, and I noticed that my discharge has a weird smell, not bad...or anything..just not my NORMAL smell. I got my iud (mirena) inserted yesterday, and the doctor had to use silver nitrate to stop my cervix from bleeding. Is the smell due to the silver nitrate? Should I call and speak to a nurse? Is this at all normal post-insertion?

TIA
Bri
x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] iud_divas and [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina

ETA: I forgot to mention what the smell actually was lol, its like a bittersweetish smell plus my usual vagina smell. Its just..different that what I'm used to.

ETA2: I called the doctor's office, as someone in vaginapagina suggested I do just to be safe, and the nurse told me it was most likely due to the silver nitrate. However, I am leaving this post up in case anybody else has this happen.

Alright so almost EVERY time I orgasm, I pee. Even if I pee before having sex, and even if I don't drink before sex. It is highly embarrassing and a bit disgusting. And it's not like, girl cum. It's pee. Does this happen to anyone else? I don't know if it's a bladder problem or what.

Help!

Edit: I DO have bladder problems, I recently had a kidney infection that sprouted from a UTI, and when I first started having sex with my now boyfriend I had a UTI almost every week. I don't know if I just have a weak bladder?

I suffer from vaginal dryness, which causes sex to be very painful. Fortunately, my lovely gynecologist discovered the problem, and gave me Estrace, a cream that I have to inject my vagina that treats the situation. I have been on it for a couple months, and it's been working wonderfully.

The problem? I hate administering the stuff. I actually stopped taking it for a couple weeks, thinking, "Oh, sex doesn't hurt anymore, so I don't need to take it anymore!" But sex starting hurting again, and now I'm back to taking it. Guh. I basically have to shove a plastic syringe about the same diameter as a tampon into my vagina, and every single time, EVERY SINGLE TIME I DO IT, it hurts. It basically hurts at the entrance to my vagina; it feels like it's scraping it's way in, and I have to shove it pretty hard to get it past the entrance. But once it gets in, I have no problems at all. But when I use tampons, there's none of this forcing and pain and shoving that comes with taking this medicine, and I'm wondering if it's because of the shape of the syringe. It's made of plastic, and the end that I insert is flat and blunt.

Does anyone know a good way to make it to get the syringe in?

OK, this is my first VP post. I've had a look through the FAQs and such and I've yet to find an answer, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

Basically, I have two questions.

1) Does anyone have any experience with weight-gain on POPs? Did you stop taking them, and if so, did you find it easier to lose weight once you were off them? I am a vegetarian, and a student; my diet consists largely of fruit, veg, rice and noodles, so it's not like I'm eating too much - if anything, I'm eating less since I started the pills, so the only reason for this weight-gain I can think of is the hormones. Plus, I'm finding it impossible to shift the weight, even with exercise

2) The FPC doctor seemed really reluctant to encourage someone my age to have an IUD fitted; on the other hand, my GP didn't seem to have a problem with it, when I brought it up with her. The FPC doctor seemed to imply that someone my age was more likely to develop an infection than someone older; this seems totally illogical to me, I've never heard this anywhere else and I can't seem to find any evidence to support it. Does anyone know why she would be so reluctant? Has anyone ever had an IUD fitted in their teens/early twenties?

Sorry for the length, but any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

So...this has come up lately for me since I have to pee in a cup at least once every month lately...

Is there a way to provide a specimen without getting pee all over the cup and my hand?  I always feel so stupid when I'm in there, hoping that I actually get some IN the cup, and then having to dry off the outside of it afterwards so it's not all gross.

EDIT:  Thanks everyone!  Hopefully my 28week checkup will be a little easier now! :)

Alright. Lets see how good I am at explaining my concern here:

Alright ladies, time for your lovely help/advice again.

Let's put it this way, My mother and I are COMPLETE opposites, so I’m done trying to reason with or ask her anything.

I started my period when I was in 8th grade, and I'm a Junior now, but the thing is, since day one, literally, I've used nothing but pads. Frankly, I hate the damn things, they make me feel so self conscious about leaking and odor, and the like, but I stuck with them, because it's what my mother said to use.

Recently, I've been getting fed up with the feeling of un-cleanliness, so I tried out one of my friend's Tampax Pearls that she left here, and I love it. I feel a lot more clean, and comfortable not to mention. Now, regardless of switching to tampons or not, I still needed my feminine products, so for the first time I went out and bought them myself, only I bought tampons instead of always pads like my mom told me to.

Today, I decided... maybe I should tell mom I bought the tampons instead of the pads, when I did this... she started yelling at me!

Baffled, I just stood there. She kept saying she told me to use pads and that I shouldn't use tampons, because they cause cancer and all these other health problems, but honestly... what DOESN'T cause cancer today?

Now, I know ANYTHING is possible, and I probably can get cancer from the tampon, but is there really a reason to worry, I really would rather use tampons than pads... really. I mean, is there a reason to dart back to pads and stay clear of the tampons?

I figured if I brought this conflict of interest between my mother and I up to you all, you could give me some positive feedback on the issue, instead of yelling and screaming at me like my mother.

The first time I did anything sexually was about two weeks ago with a girl. Since then I've been really itchy down there. What is the best thing I should do? When is the best time a girl should go to a gynecologist? immediately after she becomes sexually active? Or when she turns 18? Does being with girls vs. guys play in a role in when I should go?

my bf is only the 2nd person i've been with and he is really dominant. he takes all the control and is on top most of the time. at first i was ok with this since i'm not that experienced and i just wanted to get used to sex and him before we did anything crazy. now i want to try new things because i don't want it to get boring...but i am scared to take control or anything. i think it would be kinda hot to be the dominant one for once but also i am kind of shy about it. how can i get more confidence? also...he goes down on me a lot and says its his favorite thing to do and he almost finished a couple times just from going down on me...but i want to reciprocate because i feel selfish! i have gone down on him a couple times and at first i thought he never asked me because i was bad,but then he told me i was amazing...so why do you think he never asks for it? he always like worships my body but never lets me do anything to him. it makes me feel bad because i feel like he is doing all the work, going down on me, being on top, and i just get to lay there and enjoy it while doing nothing for him. but he says he likes to please me most of all and being with me is amazing. i can't help but feel like maybe he will end up resenting me for it though, because he is doing all the work.
sry if this is not the right kind of thing to post in this community?

When I was younger my periods were terrible. Before I had constant periods, I had periods with 2 weeks of nothing between them. The periods would last 2 weeks at a time, then I'd be off for 2 weeks, and then it came again.
So, I just got to thinking about ovulation recently.
Was I ovulating like mad? Was I not ovulating at all? I know it turned out that I had an ovarian cyst later and HBC solved that issue.

Just curious and confused on this matter :p
I very recently went off of the pill that regulated my cycles, and I am curious if my crazy periods come back am I more at risk of pregnancy?

Hello all :) I'm in a bit of a crisis at the moment - I spent the night with my boyfriend of 11 years months, sorry, and my parents find out. They're strict and mad because I'm not being the good Christian girl they raised me to be and my mom is making me get a pelvic exam.

Now we've only had vaginal sex once, about a week ago, and we've had oral sex many times. We've been very careful. I just wanted to know what this will ensue? Will the gyno know for certain that I've had sex. I can't be honest with my parents about this - I've already been banned from the boy and my friends for a month and am being forced to go to church and pray for forgiveness. If they find out I've had sex...I don't know what I'll do. These are parents who have never even mentioned the word sex around me, so I'm assuming they want me to be a virgin until marriage.

Any comments are appreciated, I'm extremely desperate.

EDIT: Would a health department have the same policy as a gyno? And if they don't have to disclose information...would they simply say it's confidential? Because my parents would certainly be suspicious. I'm guessing they aren't allowed to lie either though...

Thanks for all the support everyone.

I hope I didn't miss this if it's part of the memories.

I've been on the pill for almost a year, and even before taking it, under extreme stress instances i spot a little bit. I've been spotting since monday because I had a speech, but now that it's over I no longer feel stressed - but I'm still spotting, and it's friday - which is unusual.

I took a preggers test and it was negative, I'm not worried about being preggers because I have sex like... once a month with my boyfriend anyway.

I've also been dieting and exercising every day now AND i've lost 6 pounds in 10 days (i assure you in a healthy way).

Now, could that ^^^, be the reason why I'm spotting? Because I'm dropping weight?

Thanks!

Hey [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina!
-Here's my situation: I play rugby, and about halfway through every game I get this terrible (and persistent) pain in my pelvic region. It doesn't feel muscular like menstrual cramps- it's more of an ache-y feeling and it can be pretty intense. My theory is that it could be stress on the ligaments holding my uterus in place (my OB/GYN has said that my uterus is not highly mobile, possibly because of Endometriosis) or maybe my pelvic floor muscles being too weak? Rugby is a pretty rough sport, so I'm putting a lot of stress on my whole body, but I try to stay adequately hydrated and in general I'm pretty strong so I'm not sure why this always happens!

-Here's my question: Has anyone else experienced something similar, and if so what did you determine the cause was? What helps? Help!
Thanks :)

Alrighty, here's a question for all of you...

Over the past year, I've had six periods. For three months (from March 2006 to June 2006) I was regular. And then I gained a bunch of weight and didn't have a period until about January which coincided with an ovarian cyst bursting. When I am actively watching my diet and exercising like a good girl, you can set a calendar by my periods -- every 30 days on the dot.

At the moment, I have a freakishly long menstrual cycle, anywhere from 50 to 70 days. I think this is attributable to the fact that I have way more poundage than I should have. I am currently losing weight and as I lose weight, I've noticed that my cycle gets shorter and much more regular. And I welcome shorter cycles and more regular periods because I'll be trying for a baby when my BMI gets within normal range. Since I'm got fertility on the mind, I'm once again beginning to chart my periods and fertility signs so that, when the time comes, I'm more familiar with my patterns.Cycle Day 1 starts when your period begins... and that's where I am running into problems.

Remember that freakishly long menstrual cycle I mentioned? For the past few cycles, I'll cramp moderately to heavily with mildly sore breasts for three days before it begins. And then, I'll spot for a day or two. And when I say spot, I mean barely even dirtying the panty line and maybe not need one at all for day two. And then by day three (sometimes late in day three), it starts again and I'll bleed very heavily, like a tampon every three hours plus a pad just in case. That will last for a day and a half before it finally gets to normal on the third day of actual bleeding and then taper off within the next day or two before drying up to spotting and the residual "ick" for another day and a half.

... so, for tracking purposes, when is my day one? Is my day one when the spotting begins or when the "real" heavy bleeding begins? Any input would be appreciated.

NOTES: I do plan on talking to my gynecologist. ExpandMore background. )

This might be a silly question, but I honestly don't know.

Can you get HIV/AIDS from oral sex?
Like, I know you can't get it from oral saliva exchange, but I was wondering if it could be passed from oral to genital, or vice versa?

So it's that time of the month, and as I use a Diva cup, I've been in pretty close contact with my lower parts. Anyway, I was doing the 'stirring' method to get the excess blood out after inserting my cup and my fingers touched a pea-sized lump in kind of the back left side of my vagina. It was there the next time I emptied my cup, too (and I'd had a bm, so it's definitely not hard feces or something like that). I'd normally make an appointment with student health for tomorrow before they close for the weekend, but I feel like I wouldn't be especially welcome bleeding at this rate. So I guess my question is, is it okay to wait until Monday? (Background info: I'm somewhat sexually active, haven't had sex with a guy for a month or so, but I did get fingered somewhat roughly last Saturday by the girl I'm seeing. No blood or pain, but certainly, umm, vigorous. Doesn't feel like anything that could be caused by sexual activity, but I guess you never know with girly parts!) Thanks in advance :)

Okay, this may sound a little weird, but while I was wiping my crotch area today a piece of meat fell out.

Yes. And it was purplelish gray-ish and about the size and consistency of a grape. I squeezed it with my finger and it ruptured kind of like a grape and there was some stringly red blood inside (but not even all that much.)

What. The Hell. Was that?

Random possibly relevant information.
- I'm on the first day of my period after some weird, dark, stinky brown spotting
- This is the end of my first cycle of Yaz (I changed birth control pills recently)
- Earlier today I felt kind of fatigued.
- I'm currently also experiencing a sore throat and possible fever, with itchy nose and lips (cold or allergy?)
- I'm pretty sure it wasn't some random stray condom (too thick and fleshy) or anything like that.
- I wasn't pregnant...I had my period last month, too.

I've heard of large blood clots that are dark red in color but never something as lumpy and solid and gray as whatever the hell came out of my vajayjay yesterday. Anyone have any ideas? Should I be worried about it?
[identity profile] ms-octopus-lady.livejournal.com
I know I posted yesterday, but my curiosity has been eating away at me.

I recently, after going through three different kinds of tampons, found a brand that I actually like. They're really comfortable and they never feel like they're about to slide out. But the thing is, I never know when it's full. I know not to keep it in there for more than 8 hours because of TSS, and I'm careful about that. But it's not like wearing a pad, you know? With a pad, you just pull your underwear down and take a look, but it's not like you can pull a tampon out to see if it's full and then out it back in. I suppose I can just change my tampon every four hours, but that sounds...like I would go though a box pretty fast, and believe me when I say that I am a BROKE college student. Is there a...feeling I should be aware of, that will let me know when my tampon is full? I have ruined a few of my favorite pairs of underwear because I didn't change my tampon soon enough.

My other, completely unrelated question is about HPV. From my understanding, HPV can sometimes be passed from one partner to another, even if a condom is used. Well, let's say your boyfriend tells you he has genital warts from HPV, but you have gotten the vaccine for it, all three shots. (I'm totally blanking on the name) The vaccine protects you from two strains of HPV that cause warts, but how do you know if you're protected from the strain your boyfriend has? Can he get tested to see what TYPE of HPV he has, or are the only tests available tell you whether or not you have HPV?
