I just bought my first package of instead cups, and I must say after only using them for a day I will never go back to tampons.

At first they intimidated me and looked HUGE.

But as I soon found out.
They are Fabulous!

I can't feel them at all (sometimes I'd feel a tampon slipping out) they don't leak, and you can wear them for 12 hours.

Whoever created these things is a genious.

My next investment is a diva cup.
(just a question, why do instead cups breed bacteria and cannot be used more then once, yet a diva cup does not. It's hard to belive that something you can keep rewearing doesn't breed bacteria.)

Sorry, I just felt like writting something as I am extremely excited about my new discovery!

Hey all. I was looking at myself in the mirror just now.. I've always noticed this but I decided to ask about it.. My skin is a medium color.. But the area around my vagina is kind of a light brown.. Is everyone like this? I assure you it's not dirt.. Is there a way to take away that coloring? Thanks.

Hey everyone. I know a few people on here chart ovulation as a way of birth control/ family planning. I'm wondering if there is a reliable detailed website on how to? Barring that I'd like book recommendations. Thanks!

Hello fellow vagina enthusiasts and knowleagable folk! A quick intro perhaps, then a question? I am CHUD, pansexual, gender fluid (currently female) and owner of a divine cunt. Welcome me!

Now, I was off in the bathroom todday, and felt rather an itch in that pink inner lippy area. I proceeded to wash myself out in the sink, and discovered that I was full of slightly pastey, chunky white discharge. For those of you who know, it looked almost exactly like wheatpaste. Now, I had unprotected sex (with a trusted long time partner, free of STDs) a few nights ago, and afterwards I cleaned myself out with TP. This did dry me out quite a bit. Could this simply be backlash from dry TP? Yeasties? Something else? Im not really sure that this is relevant, but I also pulled out a giant hair (not one of my own, from head or other) with a creepy lint ball attached. Yeah...that was a bit spooky and questionable...

help me, oh paginists!

no this isn't about abortion but...

all of this talk about skipping your periods is making me want to do it. i turn into a total biznatch the week before my period and i cry at the drop of a hat on my period. so basically i'm completely unstable and out of control for about two weeks, not to mention the horrible cramps and back aches and iniconviniences of a period that go along with it.

i'm on the Nuvaring and i've been looking into trying to skip some periods. i'm a little hesitant to do them all together but even once every two months is way better than once a month. the only thing is that my boyfriend and i are completely paranoid about having children. to the point where even though i'm on the Nuvaring, we still use condoms every time. we've been having sex for over a year and he's only come inside of me 5 times or so.

he really depends on my period to make him know that i'm not pregnant. he's worked up for the entire week before my period because he doesn't know if i'll get it or not, even if we haven't had condomless sex. it's a little irksome, mostly because i like when he comes inside of me and i trust my birthcontrol. but he doesn't want to take any chances. so we depend on my synthetic "period" every 4 weeks to keep him from losing his hair.

so i want to skip my periods. but doing so would be really hard on my boyfriend. but at the same time, having a period sucks (at least, for me) because of the pain involved. and it's not causing him physical pain, so i think i should have the final say in it.

i don't know, i know he's against it but at the same time he's not the one that has to bleed for 4 days and having agonizing cramps and nausea the sometimes keeps me from going to work.

thoughts, anyone?

thanks ladies.

I had laparoscopy done yesterday and I know they say that you will have some "menstrual like bleeding after".

I definitely just had a giant goober of mucusy blood come out when I was wiping. It was dark (ie clot color) and slightly red (could be due to oxgygenation after being plopped into toliet).

Input?

I'm heading to Malaysia in early July (yay!) and I have to take Doxycycline as a malaria preventative (boo!)

I'll be taking 100mg per day for 3 to 4 weeks. I HATE taking preventative anti-biotics because it almost always means I'll end up with a yeast infection. I'll get some acidopholous to try and prevent that. I also don't like the fact that I may be helping to breed superbugs.

But what I really want to know is how that will effect the pill. I'm currently on Monofeme. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find anything useful (99% of the hits where ads for drugs).

Thanks for your help. :)

so i've recently been informed on how to never get my period again!

in my health class we were given an article on women who are on birthcontrol that just skip their hormone free week and never get their period. but their period will come back after they stop using HBC..

is this safe?

because i would love to never bleed again!

So Monday night I took Plan B and didn't get sick like everyone else I know who has taken it, which is pretty exciting if you ask me. However, this morning I woke up feeling like someone had kicked me in the box right now, which 99.9% of the time means the beginning of a yeast infection.

that wasn't on the warning label. wtf. has anyone else had weird Plan B stories? and how soon can I expect to start bleeding and being miserable? this doesn't really seem so bad.

Hello! I'm new to the community, but I've been reading it for a bit now-there's so much info! I have a Diva Cup question. I'd like to order one, but I am a smidge confused on the 'sizing' bit. I am 29, never given birth, though I've had a first trimester termination. I think I have pretty good muscle tone (ye gods, I'm talking up my vag!) since I do my Kegels and the gyno always comments that I am very small and shows some concern about my future childbearing. Should I go for the larger size, because of the almost 30 factor? Does size/weight make a difference? I'm short and medium weight.

I had sex yesterday twice. I hadn't had sex for about a week. Usually, i have sex quite frequently every week, and have been sexually active for about a year. I haven't really ever been sore after sex. And now, my vaginal feels bruised :( It just feels sore, nothing dangerous, but it does hurt.

Will Advil make it better? Or should i just be quiet and let it go away?

Thanks :)

I am on HBC (mircette). Last week I had my period. I just finished a round of antibiotics, which of course has left me with a raging yeast infection. I took a difflucan, have been taking accidopholus capsules, and am using a three day dose of monistat at night. Yet the YI persists, and doesn't seem to feel like it is getting any better.

I was wondering: my period always seems to help clear up YI's. Is it ok to stop my active pills again and have another period, even though I just started a new BC pack a week ago? I know it compromises my pregnancy prevention, so I will use backup. Would a body let you have a period so soon after the last one?

I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow about going on birth control for my ghastly periods and *possibly* for contraception later on if I decide to (still up in the air).

Question:

If the doctor gives me a low dosage, will it still work as a contraceptive? That is to say, if I hypothetically am prescribed the lowest possible dosage will it still function properly as a contraceptive (again I'm not intending at this time to start having sex but things change)?

Also, are there any questions I should be asking him (that I can say in front of my mom)?

I am a 40 year old female who leaks. Seriously.
I have had one child, who is now 9. Ever since I got pregnant with her, the whole "Laugh, cough, jump hard or sneeze, your pad will be wet." I have to wear a pad all the time. Times like now, it drives me nuts. I have a cold and everytime I sneeze or cough, the pad fills, even when I have just gone to the bathroom.

So. Anyone else with this problem and anyone else have a better solution than panty liners? I really didn't want to have to graduate to pads, but it is looking more and more like I might have to.

Any tips on brand?

Right now I use Always maxi thin with wings.

Hmm

Ok, so this is my first post =).

Ok, so I'm 15 (ohhh 15 year old! Lets tell her she has Rickets!) and I've had my period for 3 years, and out of those 3 years I think I've had my period less then 10 times. I know your irregular for the first year, but 3 years? The last time I had my period was sometime in January.

WARNING: i am wordy and feel its necessary to tell a long story before asking a simple question. :)

hello! i am 17, boston born and bred, in a long term relationship with a adorable boy for about a year and a half. i am on ortho evra (the patch) and im freaking in love with it. i have been on it for about 7(ish?) months. i am due to get my period tomorrow around 12 PM. (reason #1 why i love the patch: i can predict when ill get my period down to the hour.)

on june 27 my boy will be boarding a plane for israel. he will return mid-august.
on june 29 i will be boarding a plane to texas to go visit my family. (boo...) i will return mid-august.
so, we will be apart for 6 weeks or so. thus, no bangin' will take place.

i was thinking during this 6 weeks (it would be starting now, since im on my period week) i would like to take a break from the patch. the 2 reasons are 1) im not totally ok with being on hormones and this would be the only time i would be able to take a break. i just want to do it. and 2) its hot in texas. much hotter than the boston weather im used to. my parents have a pool that i pretty much live in or around when i visit them. people are bound to see it. my bathing suits are lower than the patch; its hard to hide. my parental unit #1 (mother) knows about the patch, boy, the hot sweaty bangin, etc, etc. shes pretty cool. parental unit #2, on the other hand, if he saw my little birth control patch, would load a shotgun, catch a plane to israel, and hunt.boy.down. i just dont want to be on it while down there. its not necessary.

*exhale* i told you i was wordy.

ok. so, here the question: will i totally wig out if i stop? will the adjustment coming off and then going back on it in late august be hard? i had no weird side effects when i started the patch, but since ive been on it for so long, might that change when i restart? any thoughts/comments that are even remotely related are super cool. :)

I recently have switched from OTC Lo to Ortho Evra. I don't know if it's related or not, but I've been having constant cramping in my belly. It feels like period cramps but only a five days into my first patch. And, also, I've been getting dime sized bruises ALL OVER my body in RANDOM areas (i.e. backs of my hands, undersides of my lower arms, and inner thighs). When I push on them, they hurt like real bruises. They start off light gray and then turn green-ish. Finally, they will turn yellowish and chill out for a while. I've had more pop up than I have go away.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned?

Please and thanks.

I'm not new to the self-pleasing scene, however, I'm beginning to notice some very weird things about my body. When I masturbate, I tend to tighten my leg muscles. I've been doing this for years. Just recently I've been getting these really sharp pains in my calves though. It makes me stop and I have to grab the calf muscle and hold it tightly, sometimes moving my foot a certain way helps too.

After the orgasm, I get horrible stomach cramps. It's not like stop and go. It's one constant cramp that lasts 10-15 minutes. I feel almost paralyzed. It's not the feeling I'd expect after an orgasm.

Are these pains related in any way? Am I just suffering from unfortunate timing? (for the last two-three weeks) Any thoughts at all?

*sigh* I'd JUST gotten a regular cycle for the first time in my life (3 moths predicably, woohoo!) when I left on vacation backpacking europe.
Now, i'm back to waiting for my damn period again, which is now a few weeks late.

No crazy sex happened on the trip as I have a bf waiting back at home, so I know I'm not pregnant. I know stress and lifestyle changes can mess up your periods schedule (and carrying a 20-40lb backpack for 3 weeks while you walk and party nonstop with little sleep while only attempting to eat healthy is definitely a big change), I'm just curious how many other people had this happen to them!

(Also, getting your period the day you leave and having to sit on a 6+ hours plane ride overseas REALLY sucks when a HUGE guy with bad manners promptly falls asleep and blocks your way to the bathroom until you can prod him awake. :\ )

Okay. First of all let me just gush for a moment about how awesome this community is. It's awesome. I love this community!

Anyway.

Today I was poking around, curious to see what could make my Kegel exercises more interesting and I ran across The Betty's Barbell on GoodViberations.com and Smart Balls (also at goodvibes). And my boyfriend and I were talking about it and the idea of my vaginal muscles getting real strong freaked him out because what if I "accidently squeezed too tight?" I kinda just raised my eyebrow and started digging around to try and find any information about it, however google was a bust for me, so were the archives, and goodvibes didn't have anything either. At that point I decided I should just post here.

What do you lovely ladies think? Do you think I could damage his penis somehow during sex if I did somehow accidently squeeze my muscles too hard? I don't think it's that likely but I couldn't find anything...

And, for those of you in Colorado: Planned Parenthood is having a Free EC Day on June 30th.

I just thought I'd pass that along in case anyone wanted to know about it. And ask if you ladies think it's worth it for me to somehow get a ride to my local Planned Parenthood (I can't drive on my own and the bus system is crazy so getting there would be hard), even though I take my birth control pills religiously, am extremely careful and hate anti-biotics so I don't go on them unless I have no other choice?

Thanks for any imput.

Kegel?

When you're peeing, if you stop the flow, is that a kegel?
