I'm heading to Malaysia in early July (yay!) and I have to take Doxycycline as a malaria preventative (boo!)
I'll be taking 100mg per day for 3 to 4 weeks. I HATE taking preventative anti-biotics because it almost always means I'll end up with a yeast infection. I'll get some acidopholous to try and prevent that. I also don't like the fact that I may be helping to breed superbugs.
But what I really want to know is how that will effect the pill. I'm currently on Monofeme. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find anything useful (99% of the hits where ads for drugs).
Thanks for your help. :)

Date: 2006-06-14 02:50 am (UTC)Also, what works really well for me when I'm antibiotics(and i always get the yeasts when i'm on those meds) is by using a little bit of tea tree oil diluted with jojoba vaginally, and taking garlic by mouth when I'm on the antibiotics and then once I'm off to take the acidophilus by mouth. Most times when I take the acidophilus by mouth when I'm an antibiotic it doesn't help too much because the antibiotics kill everything off too easily and quickly. Anyway, good luck avoiding the yeasites and sorry i can't help with your other question.
