Hello ladies, normally when I have my period I use sea sponges. I have tried using the diva cup but It wouldn't fit in me correctly. My vagina is well, a bit different. My cervix is about in the middle of my vagina and then my vagin extends into a little sac for about another inch or so. That and it kept popping out, lol. Anyway, I am between sponges right now (I need to buy some more) I was wondering if Instead Cups might be an option. I look at the webiste here and it looks like it's supposed to fit over your cervix. Since my ervix isn't all the way in the back of my 'gina, but more like in the middle of my vaginal canal. I don't know if it'll stay in or fit over my cervix since mine is lower. I've also noticed that the site said, "The INSTEAD® Softcup® is worn internally, similar to a diaphragm, and not in the vaginal canal like a tampon. Because the cup is not in the vaginal canal often your partner will not even know it is there."

And here ) is my sad drawing of what Imean by my cervix is more so in my vaginal canal. the red spot is where my cervix is.

Thanks!

Thong Burn?

Yesterday, I wore a thong to work (under pants), as I sometimes do. It fits correctly, but thongs seem unduly prone to wedge themselves into uncomfortable positions. (If I didn't love these pants so much, or -- let's face it -- if I'd done laundry when I was "supposed" to, I might not be asking this now.) Somewhere during the course of the afternoon, the little but string worked its way too far up my crack. Since I couldn't excuse myself to the restroom and I've yet to learn a polite way to pick a wedgie in public, I had to endure the pain for about an hour as I walked around.

Now I have an owie.

Through strategic positioning and the use of three mirrors, I've determined that I have, partly on my anus and partly on the cheek itself, something like a welt, only rubbed raw. While I can't take a photo of it, picturing something like a lash mark from a whip, about 2 or 3 inches long, would probably give you an accurate representation.

How exactly do I treat this? )

Thanks!

My divacup came. Yay.

Me and my mom were having this discussion about menstrual cups vs traditional menstrual products. As usual when it comes to the female body and related things, I referanced this lovely community. My mom understood the point that menstrual cups are cheaper in the long run, and better for the environment. Then she said....

"So if it's in you, how will you be sure you won't get toxic shock syndrome?"

"Because the Diva catches, it doesn't absorb."

"But Kir, your body can't tell if something's absorbing or catching. It just knows something is in there."

I remember that there was a post made a while ago about why you don't get TSS with menstrual cups, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know why?

So this is my first week with the nuva ring in, and i know its probably too soon to say, but i love that i can't feel it and that no one knows i'm using it. Oh- ha- and that I don't have to think about it everyday because that would be a disaster.

Now, being the dork that I am, I'm wondering how it works exactly? How does my body absorb the hormones from this little plastic ring, or rather, how does this ring react in my body that causes it to release hormones? Any scientists or doctors out there that can explain it to me in semi-laymen's terms? I may not be using the right search terms, but I keep coming up with the same generic answer of "it just does it", but I'm too curious for my own good.

Thanks! ~Rose
