hay guys.

about a month ago, i had my first yeast infection, so i saw a doctor to treat it. then, last night, i noticed i was having the same symptoms so i got some over-the-counter stuff to treat it.

now here's my problem. i think it may have spread to my mouth, but i'm not sure. for the past three days or so i've been waking up with a sore throat that's been getting worse daily. today it is hurting so bad that i get a headache whenever i swallow. i haven't been having any other symptoms of a cold(runny nose/cough), and the pain has stayed in my throat and hasn't spread to my chest or anything. then, earlier today, my tongue started feeling a little raw, like i had burned it on hot soup. i looked in the mirror, and there's a thin white coating on my tongue that i'm not sure is normal.

so i looked up the symptoms of oral thrush online, but they say that there usually isn't any pain, and that there are white patches on your tongue and cheeks that bleed when scraped off. this isn't quite what i'm experiencing.

i have been undergoing a buttload of stress lately, so i think that's a factor in all of this. has anybody experienced oral thrush? i'm going to call my doctor tomorrow, but i just wondered if anyone had any insight.

thanks.

backstory: ever since going off of birth control in October of '04, my period has been really wonky. as in, i had 5 periods total for the year 2005. that is not a typo. (i wasn't sexually active, and the periods i was having weren't really unusual from what i was used to, so i just didn't worry about it.)

the day of january 1 2006 (a month ago in other words), my mom finally decided she'd had enough of my dad's crap and moved out (i still live at home.)

i also started my period that day, and had another one this past monday, starting the night of the 30th and ending today. suddenly, i almost seem regular. granted, for the first one i literally PMSed for 3 weeks straight, whereas for this one it was pretty much completely normal - boobs hurt the week before, skin breaking out, moodswings, etc

here is the thing... i believe my mom is very very very early pre-menopausal (like, she'd been having problems with her period so her doctor told her to start skipping the placebos on her birth control pills... she still goes off occasionally to let herself have a period because she'll start to spot sometimes, but other than that she just takes the active pills.)

i know that sometimes women tend to get on the same "cycle" when they are around each other alot. i was wondering if this could possibly have effected me.

also, i really don't get along with my mother anyway, so this may also be a stress thing.

I'm sorry to make an OMFGWTF post, but I'm really freaked out and stressed and I just did not need this right now.

I am on the patch. My patch change day is friday. Because I am a moron and because my work week ended today (er, yesterday by now), I thought it was friday. It was in fact Thursday, as I just realized and made the connection to my patch. This was the last patch in my cycle. I'm supposed to start my week off. The instructions say "If the patch has become loose or has fallen off for less than one day, try to reapply it or apply a new patch immediately. No back up contraceptive is needed. Your patch change day remains the same." ...Would this apply to my situation where there is not supposed to be a patch applied after tomorrow? I'm fairly certain I would be okay from when I had sex a few days ago,but is it safe for me to have sex now? Will my period be affected? (late, early?)

I'm so friggen nervous. My paycheck was short this week because of an error that can't be fixed until the next check and I do not have the money to buy my next prescription yet. I know that probably doesn't matter but I just get scared that in this case I might NEED an extra patch...and don't have one. but I don't think it SHOULD be needed at this point in my cycle. I'm just not positive.

I apologize if this post was incoherentish. I did my best, I am really not in a good spot right now, this was really the icing on the cake of a wonderful last few days. Any knowledge or experience...or just plain old reassurance that everything is all right and I can just follow the directions sans the patch applying due to the time in my cycle would be appreciated.

Edit - The verdict is in! I have now spoken to both my pharmacist and GYN. Both have told me that it is all right, and in my situation I do not have to use a back up method. I also do not have to change my patch change day, unless I want to. I feel a lot better now that I know what the story is. I want to thank everyone for their speedy replies! You guys are the best.

Hey everyone! This is my first post here and I hope that this isn't an annoying question to answer...and hopefully it'll make sense...

So, here it goes.

Basically, my boyfriend and I have been intimate for a while and he fingers me which I haven't had a problem with it until recently when he would end up with blood on his hand after everytime he goes in. I don't know why this happens since I think that my hymen has long been busted and I was a week behind my period. There shouldn't have been any blood...
I was wondering if anyone would know what's going on.

Thank you ^^

Hey ladies, a short story and questions for y'all. Today, when I was getting ready to take a shower, I noticed an odd discoloration on my breast-a super pale spot right on the edge of my areola. Being the sort of strange person I am, I poked at it a bit, thinking maybe it was a pimple. :/ Unfortunately, poking revealed a dime-ish sized area under the discoloration that was hard and lumpy. Of course, I panicked and did the all over grope thing, and found a few more beebe like lumps on the same breast. My question is this: all the normal signs point to my period starting in the next day or so, is their any correlation between these lumpy bits and my cycle? Is it normal, or even vaguely possible, or should I be calling my doc?

I'm on my way to school, so i only slightly skimmed the archives....and couldn't find this.

If I only take the placebo pills for five days instead of seven, will it stop my period, or lighten it? My boyfriend and I don't see each other much because of college, and I think we'll both be bummed this weekend if Aunt Flo is still visiting. Thanx.

BCP Timing

I've been kind of bad about taking my BCP on time (Lutera/Alesse).  I'm about 3 hours off sometimes, but it's fine usually because up until now, I only use it to control cramping during my periods.  But now I'm going to start having sex again (yay!), so my question is:
How many days should I wait while taking my pill at the proper time (to get it properly effective again) before I start having unprotected sex?

Thanks!

So just so y'all know, the very urgent thing my doctor needed to see me about *was* hpv and the likelihood of cervical cancer. I was just wondering if anybody else has been through this and what to expect for my biopsy and such.

Oh yeah- I finally got her to write me a refillable prescription for valtrex to keep on top of my shingles outbreaks so I don't have to pay a co-pay each time a little bugger pops up.

I recently went off the Nuva Ring becuase I could'nt handle the side effects among other problems. I started my period pretty normal but it was a little longer than usual - and I only had the ring in two weeks by the way-. I had sex during my period no problems. Last night I had sex for the first time since my period I got up this morning - and I am bleeding. Not like a few drops almost like another period. but when I went to the bathroom last night after sex everything was fine. We didnt do anything during sex that would leave me to believe it could cause the bleeding. We used a condom and I have always handled deep pentration fine- meaning its part of my sex life and I have never bled before.
So this bleeding has me really confused and worried.
I asked my mom about it and she said it could be my body readjusting after the ring. She also said that I need to keep a check on it and make sure Im not carrying a fever have cramping or nausea.
She said I may have had a cyst and not known it- but I did just have the whole annual Gyno exam in October. So really Im clueless.
Any suggestions, ideas comments would be greatly appreciated.
The only time I have ever had 'mystery' bleeding before was in my third month when I was carrying my daughter.
So like I said I am completely well honestly alittle scared and worried.
I am going to get pads for it because I dont know whats causing it and Im afraid of inserting anything and god forbid making it worse.

So, when I got up this morning and went to the bathroom, I noticed that my discharge was a dark brown color.

I've been sick for the last couple days(Today I feel the worst), so I was wondering if that could be causing it.

Or could it be a sign of pregnancy?

Any info would be great.

The Vagina Monologues we know and love has a few added pieces. The poems are from the war-torn Middle Easter countries. The emotional force that drives the pieces is absolutely amazing, and if this play is showing in your area, I would definitely recommend viewing it. All the stories have a lesson, whether it's funny, sad, or just plain silly.

Fortunately, my vagina and I will be lucky enough to perform in this magnificent show of Vagina-loving! We (because I couldn't have gotten the part without her) got the part!

Hello lovelies! I have a question, have any of you or do any of you, use yeast pills a preventative measure against yeast infections? I treated a yeast infection last night for the first time and I have vowed to never use an treatment like that again. The burning and itching was so intense I could barely stand it (I have an extremely high threshold for pain, EXTREMELY, but was in tears because of the pain) I'd rather not go throught that again...thanks ladies!! :-)

I posted early last week about my birth control snafu, and my subsequent condom snafu. I ended up starting my active pills five days later than I normally would have, and when I had sex during that time, the condom broke. I went to planned parenthood the next morning, and took Plan B.
I'm concerned about possible pregnancy, and I would like to take a pregnancy test. Monday will be two weeks since the broken condom, and 13 days since I took the plan B. Is it to early to take a test? If I hadn't been 5 days off on my pills, next thursday would be my last active pill, if it matters.

thanks.

i looked back through the entries and couldn't exactly find what i was looking for, so i figured i would just ask myself :)

a week ago i started having some irregular spotting -- it was clearly menstrual blood, with some small blood clots, but it was only noticed it on toilet paper. it lasted for about a day (friday) and came back a little on sunday. i also had brown/grayish discharge. i just started into a sexual relationship recently (for the first time in two years) and my fear is that this could be implantation bleeding (it would be 7 days from actual intercourse) but i wasn't sure. i've never had spotting that i am aware of, and i'm not on hormonal BC.

any help would be appreciated :)

Hi--I've read the community for awhile, and I finally have a few questions of my own :-D

Firstly, I recently started birth control (Mircette), and as those of you who use Mircette may know, on the week of your period, on Sunday and Monday, you take two "low dose" pills that have a decreased amount of hormones. You start the placebo pills on Tuesday. For this reason, my period doesn't start til Thursday, and it will often go a day or two into the weekend. I have a long distance relationship, so when we visit, that can be a bummer. So, my question is...can I skip the low-dose pills on Sunday and Monday and go straight to the placebo? It means I wouldn't take a pill on Friday or Saturday, obviously. Will I still be completely protected, or do I have to worry about a second method of BC? I asked my gyno and she said that the low-dose pills were just to regulate spotting during the month, but I could give it a try. I'm just curious if you ladies have tried it and been successful. If so, would I just skip Friday and Saturday and begin the new pills as usual on Sunday?

Also, I've only been on BC for 2 months. I had very odd pelvic pain exactly a week before both periods that I've had. It felt like cramps, but a bit more dull, and it was located only on either side of my pelvis. I had an exam, blood test, and ultrasound to check for cysts, and I came back normal on all of those. However, I was talking to a friend (also on BC) who said that she gets ache-y when her body would normally ovulate. She said she had the same kind of pain I did. I have my period now, and the pain is gone. It was really odd--I'm just wondering if anyone has either had this experience or knows something about it!

Thanks so much, this community is great.

LJ cut because I'm not sure if images are allowed )

What exactly is going on with the 2 green pills before the 5 yellow ones? I'm on Mircette, btw.
[identity profile] rocketbabydoll2.livejournal.com
I've always had bad cramps, but never THIS intense. Today they were intense to the point that I had to go home from work. It was the sort of thing where not only do you have cramps, but you feel extremely sick to your stomach, nauseated, dizzy, etc. It didn't help that I was stuck in a superstuffy and hot back room sensoring clothes. After I began to dry heave, I figured it was time to go home.

This pisses me off. Damn you cramps, costing me valuable opportunities to make money! *Shakes fist*

Question

[identity profile] sunset-hysteria.livejournal.com
I'm 18 and I've never had intercourse. Now for the real problem.

I'm miserable. I've been on birth control for about a year now. Prior to that I would have immobilizing cramps where I couldn't move nor eat. I'd also get horrible stabbing stomach abdomen pains, which we never related to my menstrual cycle until about a month ago. Yesterday I skipped my birth control pill because, quite frankly, I'm not having sex and sometimes I get lazy. BAD IDEA. So I doubled my BC pills today and I thought all would be well because it was only one day. Oh no, too much to ask. I'm sitting here with those horrible stomach pains yet again. Back Story: I've had about every test done on my stomach etc. to find out what causes these pains, but all the doctors were stumped.

Do any of you lovely women (and men) have any idea what could be wrong with me? I need to call the gyno and have her fix me. Gah..

I have stray hairs on my breasts and I want to pluck them...but I'm scared!

Any tips or advice? Or other methods of getting rid of them?
[identity profile] lisbonlovesjacq.livejournal.com
So I've read up about all of the various menstrual cups.

While they all seem equally okay for me (I really can't find much reason to favor one over another), the DivaCup seems to be the one most people prefer and the one I would most like to try. However, it's friggin' $32! I don't want to spend $32 + shipping on something that I may or may not like.

Instead cups offer a free 3-cup starter kit for $3. Do you think it would be wise to try out menstrual cups in general with the Instead cups that I can afford, and if I like them move on to the Diva Cup? Or are these two so different when you use them that it wouldn't help?
