I don't know much about vulvae or vaginae at all, but mine seems to be maintenance free for the most part so I get by. But all of a sudden, I've got something going on.

A couple of weeks ago, I developed really intense itching around my outer labia, I think it's called? They're really folded, so I assumed it was just too much moisture(I'm a wet one)/too little air. Cleaned up, let things stay dry and cool for a bit, and it subsided but didn't go away entirely. Got my period, couldn't really tell if it was still there because pads /always/ make me itch, and now, the first day after my period, the itching is back hardcorestyle. But it's only on the outside, no special discharge or smell or rash.

I'm not on BC of any sort, in a LDR so rarely any sex and that is protected, never had anything like this before and I'm almost 21. But things are getting wonky down there; my period comes early every month now and I used to be regular as clockwork. My nipples itch too, if that means anything.

I'm a broke college student, can't afford to go to the doctor unless it's life-threatening...is this serious? Any home remedies? Any clue what it is? I checked the memories about YI...but they're on the inside of the canal too, right? This has stayed outside, even through PIV intercourse. Do the period irregularities/nipples mean anything? Is this ringing any bells for more experienced folk? This doesn't sound like YI to me from what I've googled/read here, but maybe I only have /one/ symptom, the itching. *shrugs* I don't know.

Oh and hi, I'm new^^

I just wanted to say thank you for all that helped me during my ordeal. I have taken my plan b pill and gotten my period. Am I on my period because of the pill? Should I wait until next month to insert my Nuvaring when I am in my “regular” cycle? Thanks!<3

Hi there. I was on the pill (Trifeme, if anyone cares) for about 4 years, and came off it about 6 months ago because I didn't have a sexual partner. Now I do, and want to start taking them again. It says on the instruction leaflet to start taking them on the first day of my period. Can you start taking them before this, or is that just going to screw a whole lot of stuff up? It's just I'm going overseas in 2 days, my period was due 2 weeks ago (this isn't abnormal and I'm definitely not pregnant), and I just want to start taking it now to get into the swing of remembering to take it every day. Can anyone help?

Hello fellow VP-ers :)

This is my first post, though I comment whenever I can. Just thought I'd share a fun article one of my friends sent me that I think we can all enjoy ;) Sex Cures the Common Cold? (I have to admit, on first reading this article I sort of went "Hmmm... All these researchers are men... Coincidence?" But hey, it's still a nifty article)

Also, as a warm fuzzy for all of us, my mom and I have a really good relationship about everything but sex. I finally got up the guts to talk to her today about looking into birth control methods at my next gyno appointment (although I could do it without her knowing, I like to be open with her). She took it really well and we had a really good conversation, and I feel like we're even closer now, which is great. And fortunately, from reading this community, I feel very prepared to discuss all my BC options with my gyno and end up with the best possible decision, or else nothing. (which I'm okay with. I'd rather use condoms forever than be unhappy with my BC!) So thank you all for your informative posts/comments!

so, when I was really underweight and only got a period every two months or so, my doctors urged me to get my weight back up because the lack of period meant my bones were getting weaker and weaker because of a lack of hormones or an appropriate cycle of hormones.. like if i continued like that, my bones would be terrible
now im at my normal weight and for the first time in my life i get a period every four weeks or so, on the dot. but NOW i hear that having less periods (like four periods a YEAR on that one bc pill) is GOOD because less usage/cell production in your ovaries and uterus means a dramatic reduction in chances for mutation= cancer

so should i firm up and be really athletic like i used to be and reduce my cancer risk or stay this weight to keep my bones? which way is better? its like either way im screwed.

Ladies, I have a question:

A very dear friend of mine is one ovary less than the matched set. She wants to go on birth control to help with acne, mood swings, etc. but her doctor is telling her that if she "messes" with the ovary that is producing eggs currently, that she will have problems having children later in life or geting the ovary to produce eggs later.

Now, I've read a bit on this, and it seems to me that that is a older fear/myth that has been disproven. The docs now tell you that once you stop BCP, you should go back to ovulating as normal.

Also, I have another friend who ALSO had an ovary removed and they put her ON birth control pills to help with mood swings and hormonal fluxes. They never told her that it would cause problems later.

Can anyone tell me what's true? Or show me some references?

THANK YOU!

Hello I'm new here, I hear about this community in The question club.
I have a couple of questions, that don't appear to be in the faq or the few most resent entries.

oh, BTW I am a thirty year old mother of five, with, sufficient, experience under my belt.

1) I recently noticed part of my vagina is painful when having sex, usually if it is the second time in a short period. From the things said in the comm, I think it is my 'G' spot. It is a raised part, and my husband say's it feels like a tongue! SO I guess the question is, is it supposed to hurt (when it didn't before), or am I mistaking this for something else. It feels rough to me when someone touches it...

2) Has anyone else noticed changes in their outer labia after giving birth? I'm sure mines never used to be so gross!

3) How unusual is it to have large-ish outer labia, mines hangs down noticeably and gets in the way of penetration at times. Am I weird?

4) Am I allowed to ask how orgasms feel for other people or should that be for the Question Club?

Also, I would just like to thank who ever it was in the 'g' spot post for confirming it does make you feel like you wanna pee!

Ok, so I've decided to switch from Yasmin to the Nuvaring due to memory problems. I also was recently treated for cervical dysplasia with a LEEP. I know all hormonal birth control is linked to increased instances of cervical dysplasia, but I'm trying to find any specific information about nuvaring and cervical dysplasia. I'm mostly concerned because as far as I can tell, the ring will be touching or very near to my cervix, so I'd like any and all links to articles that discuss this. I'm googling and coming up with nothing so far.

***EDIT***
My memory problems are not remembering to take the pill. My goldfish-length attention spam and memory predates being on Yasmin.

I've noticed that my vaginal discharge has changed..
It's kindof brightish yellow, and thick.
It doesn't smell different (that I've noticed) Just the color and consistency of it are weird. It's been about 2 weeks. I have forced work schedules so it's hard for me to see a doctor. Any clue as to what I should do/ what it is??????????????????????

lovees

I know this is a gross question, but I need to know the answer to it.

I had a yeast infection 2-3 weeks ago. I took a pill form of a yeast infection treatment and I thought it had cleared up. About a week ago, I got the feeling that it was back and I was right. I again took the same pill treatment and it's been fine since. However today, I don't know for sure, but the whole area down there feels tender.

My question is should I go have a gynecological exam done? Or is that not necessary? Maybe use a different form of treatment? I not sure if this is really serious or not.

Thanks in advance.

Marissa

Good day, fellow VPers! My body has me confused, and I'm wondering if any of you can help me out.

I am twenty and have been menstruating for seven years. I have kept thorough records of my cycle throughout the past two to two and a half years and it has been very predictable. Prior to December 2005, I had never had a period shorter than 29 days nor longer than 31 days. In December, I got my period on day 37 of my cycle. This month, today is day 36 and it's still nowhere in sight. I have had no major changes in diet, am at a healthy weight for my height, and do not take any medications. I consider myself to be under a moderate amount of stress, and am under less stress now than I was during the first year and a half I tracked my cycle.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this? I don't want to keep thinking "OH NO, AM I PREGNANT?" every month. I am sexually active, but my bf and I are faithful condom users and have never had any trouble with contraception. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
[identity profile] puck-inlove.livejournal.com
I've had this problem for a looong time now, probably edging onto two years.

My discharge depending on the time of the month can go from clearish white ( woot! ) to whiteish yellow ( not so woot ) to yellowy with almost a tinge of green ( not woot. ) to dark browny red ( 4 days before my period it starts usually ).

And I smell like salt and vinegar chips. no jokes. My gyno said to keep track of the 'smells' .. and I think I smell like chips.

AND I GET REALLY REALLY HEAVY AND incredibly bad period cramps. I can't move for about 2 days and I cry and cry.. =(.

ANY IDEAS? Am I dying? I TRUST YOU GUYS =).

Does anyone know if they test you for herpes when you go to the health department and get tested for STDs? Is that part of the testing? Thanks
