So... I am on birth control pills and on New Year's Eve my boyfriend came inside of me without a condom for the first time. I, personally, have no problem with it and am totally fine if he were to cum inside of me as long as I'm taking my birth control correctly. He, however, freaked out and was asking me daily (almost by the hour) if I had had my period yet. I was kind of annoyed that he kept doing that, but I understood his concern so I just kept reassuring him that it would come, etc... And I was right, it did. All is good in the world.
However.
Now he's afraid to cum inside of me without a condom, even though I'm on BC. Which I could deal with (I guess) except that now when he tries to use a condom he can't stay hard! Which sucks! He's confidant enough with the BC to do some foreplay where he's inside of me and I usually end up cumming when he does that, but then when he puts on a condom so that he can finish off, he's soft in under a minute. Then I feel guilty that I was able to enjoy it so much but he can't.
Also, I'm going to be on some antibiotics for the next 3 months, so we definitely need backup for that. I would prefer condoms for that time frame, but... Well, see the above problem.
As far as normal methods (without taking antibiotics into consideration) he's not comfortable just using spermicide, or the pull out method. I don't know anything about the female condom, or diaphragms, and everything else I can think of is long term and I'm afraid of them messing up my future possibility to have kids.
So, after all that, my question.
Does anybody have any ideas on what we could do as a second method of prevention that he might be comfortable with? I think his main train of thought is along the lines of "as long as there is something there to catch the sperm, they can't get into the uterus and she can't get pregnant." Thanks.

I really want everyone (women and men) in this community to know and remember that a VAGINA IS A VAGINA, NOT A WALK THROUGH A ROSE GARDEN so it's not supposed to smell like one.

For god's sake, world, love the poon! It did nothing to you except give birth to you!

So, I am somewhat understanding of how the cycle goes..

week 1: period
week 2: dry and tacky and white.
week 3 (ovulation): plentiful, stretchy, and clear.

Now, what exactly is week four supposed to look like (post-ovulation but pre-menstruation)? Does is stay the same as the ovulation mucous or is it supposed to revert back more towards tacky and white?

So I love my vagina. I really do. And I love my uterus. I enjoy having such girly bits.
But oh my god, it's 4:30 in the morning and I'm dying a slow painful death via menses.

baby neice

I'm concerned about my baby neice. She's a little over 17 months and my sister told me that yesterday she was bleeding out of her vagina. They took her to the ER and she has a tear right at the opening of her vagina. They also diagnosed her as having strep there. I don't know anything about any of this so I was wondering if anyone or everyone could explain this to me. We don't know how she got the tear at all. The only people who have her are myself and my sister's husband. But she picks at herself in the bath and between changing her diaper. I'm mostly just confused about the strep part and how a baby can get it. Thanks everyone.

Hi everybody. My last normal period started on October 29th. It lasted about a week. It was never very heavy. But, there was enough blood for me to use my Diva cup. I have been spotting since December 27th. Every week or so, I'll have some bright red blood when I wipe. But most of the time it's just a faint brownish, old blood color. It rarely even gets on my panties, that's how light the "flow" is. This is definitely something new for me. I've never bled this way before. I am not using hormonal birth control and I have had sex since 10/29. What do you think is going on?

My mom always wanted me to watch less TV because she thought it would ruin my eyes. I wonder if she'd change her mind if she read this article about the link between TV location and sex frequency.

Turn off the TV, and let's have sex!
From Yahoo! News.

P.S. Another fun fact: My parents don't have a TV in their bedroom. I hope they're enjoying themselves.

Ok, so it seems my mom is very very against bc pills. Since I first got my period at 10 until now (17) It's always been irregular. Sometimes 2 months late, sometimes 2 weeks early. It's unbelievably annoying. What's worse is that me and my boyfriend simply rely on condoms to prevent pregnancy. However, when you're waiting for about a month for your period to come, it kinda freaks you out a bit. I asked my mom if she would take me to a doctor to get a bc prescription (for regulation as well as contraception), but she's very against it. She thinks that if Im on bc, it means im having sex, and she simply will not put up with me having sex at 17. You would figure she'd think I was being responsible but according to her, "If you were responsible, you wouldnt be having sex." Also, she's worried about side effects and truly believes that birth control equals blood clots and heart disease. Im thinking about just sneaking out and getting bc on my own. Im not really sure what to do. Not only is birth control itself a factor, but the irregulation worries me too.

My mom has made it clear that she will not take me to a doctor/gyno because she thinks that no matter what she says they will prescribe me bc. I dont drive otherwise I would have taken myself. So...Im lost.

I'm sort of new. I used to be a member under another, now-inactive LJ.

I'm feeling kind of paranoid right now. My vagina, for the past couple of days, has been kind of itchy and uncomfortable for me. This isn't something that I've never felt before --- sometimes, if I masturbate too much (I can be guilty of this) it feels the way it does now. The only difference is that it doesn't last as long as it has. My inner labia are very red and I'm pretty dry down there...

So, for the paranoid part: Does it sound like I have an STD?

The extent to which I have engaged in sexual activity was being fingered by a woman, which took place about six months ago. She and I discussed STDs in detail and she assured me that she was STD-free. She was a good friend, so I believed her --- especially since I wasn't engaging in oral, and since she didn't appear to have anything down there (yes, I know, sometimes STDs lie dormant).

But I'm still freaking out, so I came here for either reassurance or a push for me to see a gyno.

I'm hoping that I just have something like a UTI --- I am on antibiotics --- but it doesn't really burn when I pee, so I just don't know...

Thank you VERY much for any help.

So, this is my first post here.
i thought i'd join because i seem to have more and more vagina questions.

Anywho. I have never had a yeast infection before, i've never had sex before..
But recently i've been taking penicillin (for about 5 days now)
and i know sometimes YI's can develope from it...
but my vagina has been pretty itchy, and kinda dried out
but i'm on my period
can you even get a yeast infection on your period?

Perhaps it's ecosystem is just out of whack?

I don't know. i'm all timid about this. I've never been to a gyno. I don't know how to tell if something's wrong.
but it feels like a big mess down there..

so hopefully someone here can help me out.

I have two possibly-related concerns. #1, and this isn't really much of a problem unless it somehow explains #2, my period is several days late. I'm certainly not complaining, and I'm not always perfectly regular, and there's no chance whatever that I'm pregnant. (Queer, and a virgin.)

But my nipples are really, really sore. Like, they hurt like hell just sitting here. Also, they're really hard all the time, which is very unusual: I thought maybe it was chafing from my shirt, but they hurt with nothing on them. The rest of my breast is fine, even the aureola, but the nipples themselves are throbbing.

Is this something I should be worried about, and is there anything I can do about it? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Last Friday, my doctor told me that they found an ovarian cyst on my right ovary. Both my mother and my aunt had ovarian cysts when they were my age which resulted in complete hysterectomies.

It would be much easier to convince myself not to worry, but I read up on ovarian cysts online and it turns out that I am symptomatic without realizing it. Being symptomatic increases your chances of the cyst being something to actually worry about and I have noticed bloating in my lower abdomen- my appetite has decreased because the bloating makes me feel constantly full- and my menstrual cycles have become irregular. My last cycle was 56 days long instead of my usual 26 days and I have spotting at least twice a month midcycle.

So, I'm nervous. My husband and I still hope to have children. I am scheduled for a pelvic ultrasound next Friday, January 20th, and I would appreciate you keeping me in mind when you speak with whatever divinity you choose to invoke.

ok..

my last period (2 weeks ago) lasted less than one day.
it started a day late,
and i spotted (although it was more of a milky-creamy and slightly bloody discharge) for the last 14 days after my period. i have an appointment with my gyno tomorrow, but i'd just like to know if anyone here has any insight.

i am on birth control, and my boyfriend and i (who have been together for the last 2 years) do try to maintain a very safe sex life, although sometimes we do slip up, and a little over 3 weeks ago, he came inside of me on two different occasions. now, he has come inside of me before, and to no change whatsoever. however, with the changes this time, i'm a little concerned. i know you are not supposed to take birth control while pregnant, and my concern is that the changes i am experiencing are because i am possibly pregnant. is a very, very short period followed by spotting/cramping a sign that i could be pregnant? we bought some home pregnancy tests, and we are going to take one tonight.

but is it a possibility?

First post here. Went in to see the doctor today and will know exactly what is going on on Wednesday, but until then I need something to ease my mind...

Infections from sex? )
[identity profile] frolicnaked.livejournal.com
First off, let me say that I'm very much in favor of making hormonal contraception available to women and that I totally support any woman who chooses to use it.

Inspired a little by part of this comment thread but mostly by a recent conversation with a friend. In that conversation, I made a comment about the copious amounts of blood spewing forth from my vagina (I'm on day 4 of my period). Her response? "You should get on birth control pills. They make your period shorter and lighter."

I assured her that no, I was fine with my period the way it was, and I was sorry if my previous statement had sounded like a complaint.

"Still," she said, "I can't imagine why anyone who could be on the pill would decide not to."

Well, actually, I can. )

Thank you. That is all. I have to go empty my Diva Cup now. :)

Does anyone get headaches after orgasm?

For the past week or so, every time I have an orgasm I get a blinding headache that makes me feel like I'm going to vomit for the next 45 or so minutes. Normally I just sleep it off, but there have been a few that persisted even after waking up.

Thanks!

if you leave a yeast infection alone and dont do anything, what will happen????
[identity profile] onewithbriteyes.livejournal.com
Hi! It's been a while since I've been here, although this is the first place I go whenever a friend has a question. Thanks to everyone for all your advice again and again.

I have a quick question for anyone using the NuvaRing. I'm thinking of going on it, as I've heard great reviews and well, I'm TERRIBLE at remembering to take my BCP at the right time. My boyfriend and I use condoms, but I'd rather not have to think about my half of the birth-control deal all the time. Anyway, my boyfriend actually thought up the question, but have any of you experienced any problems with foreplay or masturbation? Does it get in the way during fingering? I know you can pull it out and put it back in, but I'm sure it could put a bit of a damper on the mood.

Thanks for your responses. If you've got any other pertinent info about NuvaRing and your experiences, I'd love to hear those as well.

alright, so i was thinking today...and i was wondering what all of you ladies' professional opinions were on this one:
if you masturbate with nail polish on your finger nails is it bad for you?

This was mentioned a day or so ago, but I can't find the exact post so I'm just going to throw this out there:

What are some of your general reactions to using garlic as a cure for yeast infections? I put in an un-nicked clove last night (ps i knew it would smell but WOW that was something fierce to wake up to!) and the itching subsided but it is still somewhat there, and I read there would be a watery-ish discharge, but I still think this white discharge looks very similar to yeast. The source I used (http://www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/garlic.asp) said one treatment should be enough, at most two, but I've read elsewhere it could take even up to five or six days... is there something I don't know about? What are your experiences using this cure?

Now taking acidophilous after every meal and before bed, and eating yogurt as a snack between meals that have live L. Acidophilous in it. As was *HIGHLY* suggested!! ^_^ So now I'm just waiting for the infection to disappear. Thanks guys! ~Rose

EDIT: Found it!! http://www.livejournal.com/community/vaginapagina/7014083.html But feel free to share anyway... more info is always a plus!

everyone always says to avoid UTI's you should "pee after sex!"

well, what if you drink at least six glasses of water and two of vault, because you know you're going to be having sex later that day, the sex happens, and then you physically CANT pee until like two hours later, when the stuff has already leaked out and left you uncomfortable, with four less pairs of underwear than previously before?

this anti-pee thing i have going on is really annoying..and is quite the opposite of my overactive bladder boyfriend..which makes me more miserable, come to think of it.

One of my high school students asked me a question today that I was not able to answer...I hope someone will be able to answer it for me. Is there an sti/std, other than oral herpes that can be transmitted by mouth-to-mouth contact? I am dumbfounded and thought someone here would know! Thank you so much :-)

I was supposed to start my birth control pills on January 1st, but my pharmacy was closed, so I was a day late starting my pills. The 1st was a Sunday. I had unprotected sex with my fiance on the 7th, but he always pulls out. Today I had a bit of a reddish brown discharge when I peed, and I was a little freaked out. I've been having some very unusual cramps the past few days, and I have been very tired. I should be getting my period next Thursday, the 27th. What are the chances of me being pregnant, and what's the earliest I could take a pregnancy test just to ease my mind?
[identity profile] moonstrucky.livejournal.com
I am considering an IUD, but have always heard that women who have not had a baby should not have one.  Obviously, from reading entries here, this is not the case, so it is again an option in my head.  I am currently on Mircette (a low dose BCP) but would rather not be on hormonal birth control.  I've always had fairly uncomfortable and heavy periods, and while the BCPs have helped with that, I'm worried that an IUD might make them worse than they were before I started on the pill (about 6 years ago.  Yeesh.)
I've done some reading about it, but would anyone care to share their experiences or direct me to a particularly helpful website?
Oh, also.  Tampon use with IUD?  I remember reading that was a no-no somewhere, too, but haven't been able to find that particular tidbit again.

Ok, I have this new problem that's been plaguing me for days consistently and on and off for the past few weeks. I don't have large breasts by any means so sometimes I go bra-less, but I've noticed the past couple times that my nipples hurt when I do that, like a burning or pinching hurt. I only go bra-less when the shirt I'm wearing is soft, so I don't think it's that, but at least one time it was very cold and my nipples were hard all day, even after showering and putting a bra on that night. I felt them tonight and they seem to be dry...has anyone else experienced this???
[identity profile] essos.livejournal.com
I know this question has been asked before and I can't find the answer!

I go to take my BC pill tonight, pop it out of the package and realize it's my pill for Tuesday. The thing is, I'm 90% sure I didn't take a pill yet today. I remember taking one yesterday, I remember taking one on Saturday and remember starting the pack on Friday. So, what happened? I really really don't think I took one yet, because my alarm went off at 9pm to do so, and I didn't (nor did I remove myself from the couch and the telephone and the TV until 10 minutes ago to get my purse and take my pill).

What should I do??? I'm thinking I'll just wait till tomorrow to take a pill and use a condom if I have sex this week. Sound like a good plan? Ahhhhh. I'm such a space-case.

EDIT: But if I go through with the above plan, what are the consquences of completely missing a pill--not forgetting it and then taking it 12 hours later, but only taking 20 pills instead of 21? Shouldn't I be okay because theoretically, if I missed pill today and my hormone levels change and I potentially ovulate, I'll be covered with a condom? And then 7 days from now I should be back to normal and protected? Also, if I didn't take a pill today--which I don't think I did, what's the consequence of taking 2 pills in one day and then missing a day--which I think I must have done?
