i've been on mircette for the past 3-4ish months and heres the prob:

dec 19-26 i got my period which is cool cuz i was on the last row of pills.
but i got my period again from jan 2 till now and it makes no sense cuz im on the white pills. what's going on? should i be concerned? are the pill dosages too low, have i become tolerant or something? i got an appt with my gyno next week but is this somethin urgent where i should see her soon? i don't think so but is this normal?

Im 20 years old, and i havent got any taller in years. Well, I thought I hadnt.
I recently went to visit my nanna, and she measured me up against the wall (its something my family do with the kids every year around christmas time) and it turns out that im two inches taller than i thought i was.
This makes me 5'11'' now.
Also, ive recently noticed that my boobs are getting bigger and heavier, AND my hips seem to be widening (sp?) again.

I thought i had stopped!

Anyone know any reason why i would have a growth spurt at 20 years of age?

Also, out of curiosity, when did you stop growing?

If you and your partner were both virgins, and you decided that you were ready to have sex with each other for the first time, would you want the both of you to be tested for STDs?
[identity profile] batsandmice.livejournal.com
Hey all.

I'm 19. I've been having sex sine i was 15. I have had a few (male) sexual partners, and the person i am currently with is not the biggest. we've been having sex since june.
i.e, this has nothing to do with virginity, size, or new partner.
at the end of december, i started to feel an increased tightness in my vagina while having PIV sex. specifically on the right side, about an inch or two inside, there's been an almost tearing pain. at first i thought that maybe the CBR in my piercing was getting caught there and pulling, so i investigated (felt around down there during sex) and it wasnt it.
now it feels like my whole vagina is getting tighter, the spot on the right is SEARING pain for at least 2-3 minutes every time we start having sex, as soon as he pushes in further than 3 or 4 inches i cant take it, and i'm feeling pressure now directly on the insides of my hipbones.
Anyone had anything like this happen?
i just want to know if im blowing this out of proportion...
thanks!
laura.

If I missed this in the archives somewhere, please point me in the right direction. I always worry I've overlooked something.

Anyway, my problem.
I've had some pain during sex for the past year or so. After an orgasm or two it usually becomes easier to ignore, but still, you know... it hurts.
My physician knows and I finally (!) got into a gynecologist this week.
After poking around a bit on Monday, she scheduled me for an ultrasound today.
The ultrasound showed a pretty big cyst on my left ovary. Cysts are fairly common, not cancerous, not really dangerous, just painful.
My only problem is the cyst is on my left ovary and the pain I have during sex is always on the right inside wall of my vagina.
It's only hurt on the left side once in over a year of sex, but it hurts on the right almost every time.
My new gynecologist prescribed me some sort of jelly that should help eliminate the pain (a temporary solution) and she's switching me from OTC-Lo to the Nuvaring. (I think I might have heard something about birth control making the size of the cyst decrease...?)

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is I want to know why it always hurts on the right wall of my vagina if the cyst is on the left. My boyfriend says it's probably just my body being goofy (while relating his experience of how an infected tooth gave him arthritis), but he's just a boy, and why should I trust him over you guys? :D
So is there a good reason that my vagina hurts on the opposite side from where the cyst is?

Baby Wipes

Does anyone know if baby wipes are an effective way to clean yourself up a bit after sex? [assuming there's no time to shower]

Usually my girlie juices smell/taste quite nice. I have gotten many compliments from exes who said I tasted sweet like candy. However, lately I am not smelling the same. I have been eating a lot of fruit like usual, pineapple and all that, but it is just not helping. I dont know if maybe my hormones are changing, or if it is something in my diet. I am only 25 so I dont get the hormone thing...but who knows.

I dont take any vitamins or pills except the occasional ibuprofen, I eat normally. Mainly canned fruit for lunch and maybe a light meal when I get home. I dont have any infections or anything, I went to the gyno recently. Any ideas on why my smell/taste would be different?

I miss my candy girliejuice. :(

Question

I am on Tri-nessa. I take my pills like I am supposed to every day. Last month, I didn't have a period. Two weeks later, I started. I am close to the end of the pack that I am on and I am still having my period. I really don't want to be on my period for more than two weeks. Do you all think that I should start a new pack the day after the pack I am on is done? Or should I let it happen and just start my pills after all the sugar pills are gone?

I have been taking the same birth control for 6 years...could my body just be sick of it?

Thanks for your help.
[identity profile] thatrandomgirl.livejournal.com
okay so i read this article about a girl who went to the hospital thinking she had a stomach ache but in all actuality, she was nine months pregnant and giving birth;

how does someone not know something like that about their body? is this common?

also, say someone was to get pregnant while on the pill.. would their periods stop or ould the pill continue to make their `artificial period´??

thanx:

Once I stopped using cocaine (consistent use for ~3 weeks), my body started retaining water like crazy.

So, either stopping the cocaine directly caused the water retention, or cocaine use messed up my cycle and is going to make my period fairly early...has anyone experienced either?
[identity profile] https://users.livejournal.com/-out-of-tune/
so i read through the memories and it seems that i couldnt find the right solution to my problem. so im sorry! if someone else finds it.

so i have been seeing this guy for about a week, and we have made out twice.

the first time he did feel me up and i do have nipple piercings, so i came after about 15 minutes of making out, so i understand that time. but last night we were JUST making out, he didnt touch any of my goodies, and i still ended up cumming.

now is there anyway to stop this?

its just strange i never had an orgasm that didnt involve touching my goodies down there at all.

the strangest part about it all is that with my ex (who i went out with for 9 months), when we made out that NEVER happened.

anyone explain this? i feel terrible when i cum too quickly because i get tired for a short period of time, and by that time hes soft again.

i guess i know how some guys feel now :/

I just started my period yesterday (after 10 months of not having one, not due to pregnancy) so, I'm relieved ;)

I looked through all of the archives and couldn't find anything at all about this. But is there any specific way I should clean myself, inbetween showers, while menstruating? Aside from just water? I've always just wetted the toilet paper with water and cleaned myself that way, but toilet paper doesn't really seem to be my best bet right now.

Thank you in advance ;)

I was approved for Essure a few days ago, and while giving me a run-down of the procedure and what to expect, the physician's assistant told me it's sometimes done under a local anesthetic, but because most people don't tolerate that very well, general anesthesia is preferred. Then, when the doctor came in to speak to me about it, she said she does most of them under local...and, of course, local is less expensive, so I'll likely have to go with that. I've never had a surgical procedure done, or anything major going on in my uterus-fallopian tubes region (no pregnancies/abortions/births/IUDs), so I'm really worried. (They're going to give me a shot in my cervix :-/ wtf)

For those of you who've had the procedure, or know someone who has, were you under general or local? If you were under local, how did it feel? I know it only takes about 6 minutes, but that could be a hellacious 6 minutes.

Is it weird to actually really like the way your vulva smells when you're turned on? When I got my vibe, I bought some lube as well to make it easier (first time and all), and it's an unscented one though I think it does have a faint chalky/talcum powder-type scent, but I have a sensitive nose :p. Anyway, when I use it....I don't like the way its smell 'interferes' with my smell! I'm probably just oversensitive, but maybe its my brain sensing an 'intruder' smell? It just feels odd being able to smell something on top of my smell. I do like the feel of lube but because of the smell thing I've not been using it lately. I'd like to get over this so it can get used up, and also I'll need it when I get a bigger vibe.

Also, is it weird to like your girljuice/ejaculate? My girljuice tastes kind of....lemony, sharp in a nice way and my ejaculate is really sweet, like heavily sugared popcorn. Contrary to popular belief, not all girls taste of fish ;). But seriously, is such a liking of my girlpart smells/fluids normal? I should imagine its healthy but I've never met anyone else who has it.

After many months of hopeful wishing and daydreaming, I am FINALLY getting a Divacup!!

Mum is getting one too, and my sister is too squidgy to get one for herself. Silly sister. Tampons make you dry!! *pointed look at sister who is looking over the shoulder*

Mum used to use Insteads, but stopped using them because they used to leak for her. DivaCup seems awesome, and no one yet is allergic to silicone, and thus, we all (except silly labia-fearing sister) are going YES!!!

Hear her protest about her fear of sticking her fingers up her 'holes'. It's a vagina.

She says vagina blood is gross... no wait, she said 'icky'. Meh.

I'm not the one who will waste money on tampons for the rest of my days.

Nyer nyer!!!

I am on ortho-tri and i tried to skip my period but it didn't work. I was about a week into my new pack and my period started. The period ended now but do I start a brand new pack now or countinue from where i was when the period started? I stopped taking any pills once my period started because I just treated it like a placebo week. I hope this made sense.

Yesterday, something very puzzling happened.

I was walking up to school to pick up my sister, and I did a bit of a fart, and thought no more of it until I was walking back and was sort of...damp, and chafing like hell. So I go to the bathroom and pull down my trousers and pants and there is a massive stain there - it's brownish but there is definitely blood there, but I'm not on my period and it's nothing like menstrual blood, just regular blood.

It can't be from my bum because it's very much a liquid stain, and it doesn't smell remotely pooey, more like regular blood mixed with urine, and it's in the wrong place in my knickers to be from my bum - it's right under where my vagina is. I was really sore around my vagina and also the front of my anus, the edge closest to my vagina. From my knickers, it looks like it was all around my vagina but got rubbed up as I walked.

The soreness went away after I cleaned the area and changed my knickers, but in the first place I was wearing non-chafey cotton underwear. Not feeling a thing today.

So, what could possibly have happened?

Hi everyone, I hope this isn't off-topic. I apologize if it is.

I'm 30 and over the past year or so, my scalp hair has been thinning. I recently found out that my mother's side of the family does have female pattern hair loss. I'm pretty devastated.

Why I think this might be relevant to [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina:

While researching different causes of female hair loss, over and over I kept coming across hormonal imbalances - not just those related to the thyroid. Mentions of women losing hair after stopping the birth control pill, post-partum, and during menopause. Stuff related to testosterone and dht.

I even ran across a site which listed various treatments for female pattern hair loss...and most of them were different birth control pills! I'm extremely happy with my NuvaRing and don't want to switch, but I definitely will if it will help.

Does anyone here have any experience with hair loss, and if so, was it due to estrogen/testosterone/dht/androgen/whatever imbalance? If so, did hormone therapy help? Did your hair grow back? Does anyone have any information for me besides female Rogaine?

Like I said, I'm very devastated, and am desperate for treatment options. I have already sought the advice of my doctor (I need to go back for a follow-up), but in the meantime I'm looking for anything that will help subside my panic. And I apologize again if this is too off-topic.

Never posted here before so a little background first. I'm 19 years old and have been having sex with my boyfriend for about the last 5 months. And we always use condoms.

Last night we were having sex and it started to feel like he was pressing on something inside my body, but it was not painful. Nothing was different from the other times we have had sex, except I was not laying completely flat. After he finished I began to feel extreme pain right above where my pubic hair starts, but inside my body. It was completely different from hunger pains or cramps that I normally get. I was almost in tears.

Today it feels slightly better, but I still feel a sharp pain if I move in certain ways. Urinating is not painful, but I've tried to poop and that brings back the terrible pains in my stomach/abdomen.

If anyone knows why this is- or has had this happen before- anything would be more than helpful.

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine mentioned that she started her month of pills a day later then she usually does, (She takes her first pill on a Sunday, but this time she started on a Monday) and I wondered if this would change the effectiveness of her BC for the month. I took a look through the archive but couldnt find anything regarding this question. Any insight will be welcome! :)

Can probiotics give you BV? I'm curious because I know they add good bacteria, but bacteria is bacteria, right? If you over-use it, can it give you BV?

I hope this doesn't sound dumb.. :X..

hi everyone! 3 things to say:
first off, thanks to everyone who responded to my post about different colored labia and etc.

2. i just finished reading a really great book called that takes ovaries! which is a compilation of true stories about courageous women and their everyday stories. i definitely recommend it to all of you.

3. i recently found out, through research on the internet, that it's not considered sex trafficking, thus, not illegal, if a girl is over 18. this really upset me, but i was wondering what you all thought, and what other information you might have.

thanks!

I suppose this is primarily for members who use, or have used, any type of contraception for the actual purpose of contraception, rather than STI protection, cycle regulation, etc. Don't get me wrong; those are important, too, but this post is long enough as it is. ;)

Inspired by some recent posts on VP, I've been thinking about "perfect use" rates versus "typical use" rates for various types of birth control. It seems like for some, perfect use is synonymous with typical use, while for others, it's this ideal that people assume no one will be able to attain. I'm sure that both extremes aren't always true. So I think it would be very cool to get real responses from real people about how "perfectly" they do or don't use their contraceptive method of choice.

Since different methods have different requirements (in other words, it doesn't make much sense to ask, "Do you take your condom at the same time every day?"), these questions are broken down by method of contraception. Feel free to answer for any that you currently use or have used in the past. Also, if your contraceptive method isn't listed, I apologize. After consultation with VP mods, I cut methods with low reported user error and methods that were similar to other methods in the interest of keeping things manageable.

Though this is far from a scientific study, the purpose of this post is informative. We'd all get much more information if everyone, not just the people who feel they practiced a contraceptive method perfectly, responded. To that end, it's really important -- and I know most members don't even need the reminder -- to remember that VP is a safe space, not a place to judge people who've been imperfect while using contaceptives. I know that I've made mistakes in more than one area of my life; it's called being human.

Finally, if there's anything else you need to tell the community (or me) about your contraception that isn't mentioned in the questions, please feel free to add it to your comment.

I was masturbating earlier today and something felt a bit strange. Not geographically but more of a weird tactile experience. Anyway, I investigated my fingers and what would normally be wetness was this really think whiteish goop. It was also much stronger in taste and more...sour/bitter I think is the word but not really if that makes any sense. I thought maybe this might be one of a few things:

Just different because of where I am in my cycle
I haven't drank a lot of water recently
Or something wrong.

I mean usually a week or so after my period my discharge is a bit heavier whiter and thicker but I've never experienced this, or at least if I have I haven't noticed. It's not itchy and theres no smell that I've noticed so i don't think it's a yeast infection so I'm really at a loss as to what it could be.

Also, I have a question about how foods affect taste. I know fruit especially pineapple and citrusy things improve taste and dairy products make it worse but I eat a lot of fruit, (it's basically 2 of my three meals a day and snacks), however I also use a lot of milk an dairy products. My taste isn't awful but it could be better. If I drank more water would that tip the balance more in the direction of niceness?(I know my wording is awful and I'm sorry) Or any other tips that improve taste without removing dairy from my diet. I know it's wishful thinking but because of the diet I'm on it would make eating anything other than fruit rather difficult if I removed dairy.

Thanks xx

So the other day I posted about getting my Wisdom teeth out.

ExpandSurgery details, cut for length, some random questions intermingled within the blahblahblah - sorry, the drugs have made me rather long-winded )

I suppose the most pertinent (and obvious) question is the one about Amoxicillin - I know it could screw up my BC, but should I start back on my cycle like normal (obviously using backup methods if deciding to have sex) or should I try to time it to start my BC after I finish up my Amoxicillin? I don't want to mess up my cycle (been taking Ortho TriCyclen Lo religiously for a year now). My instinct would be to stay on-schedule with my BC, but I don't know if anyone else has some experience in the matter.

By the way, just in case it's any help for anyone else, I've been writing pre and post operation posts on my livejournal about my experience - so in case anyone's coming up on a wisdom tooth extraction anytime soon, I'll just link to them for some perspective:

Pre Op
The Op Itself
Bad Reaction to Percocet
Today (the Day After) and Pre-And-Post Op Swelling Pictures

...

Ultimately, thank you ladies for your help. You're always wonderful.
