I started taking Lutera on Oct 11, of this month. Day one of my period. I had some side effect nausea but I took it at night with something small and everything was fine.  About a week ago I got this pain in my lower abdomen it hurt if I even sneezed or bent down funny it was more sore than pain but definitely discomfort.  Then Tuesday night I got slammed with an incredibly powerful case of nausea. At first I chalked it up to the dinner I had had, but lately its been coming and going at odd times. First thing in the morning , evening, late at night. And I had none of this when I started the Pill. The first week or two I would have expected it. So I called my Dr. and they told me I needed to take the test. So I did yesturday and I DID get a negative result twice BUT I didnt use my first morning Urine and the test said its only 53% accurate 4 days before youve even missed your period. and after getting my negative result and being up at midnight with another bout of nausea I reread the box and it said I should have waited all together and took the tests this morning because I havent missed my period yet.

I have a little girl shes 4 and right after I had her I went on Lutera for a month then and never felt anything like I am now. Although the difference is I wasnt sexually active then and am very much so now.

I keep feeling something in my lower abdomen too. Its not cramping or if it is its extremely light cramping kinda feels like the pressure and movement  of gas but not in my stomach- lower.

When I started the Lutera the packet said if I started on Day One of my period by the end of my period Day 7 I would be 'safe'. So I went with that. Now Im rethinking it.......

My boyfriend is taking me to the Hospital this afternoon for hopefully a full on diagnosis before I just go insane.

If I am -I am on meds I need to stop immediately.  So there is definitely an urgency to knowing as soon as possible.

According to the BC packet I should start my period Tuesday. So Im thinking 3 days away the Hospital should be able to tell me something????

I never missed a single pill took them like clock work.

Is there a way the Hospital can tell me today if I am or not?

I mean with the nausea weird feeling in my abdomen I just want to know something concrete here before I go nuts.

Is it possible to get pregnant on the Pill?

I know it is... but on my first month?

Im just so confused.

and VERY scared.

Recently I got a keeper cup. I was really excited about it, but on the last day of my period when I took my keeper out, my vulva started itching. There's no funky discharge (no healthy mucus at all, really), and no pain when I pee. My inner lips and entrance to my vagina just itch and ache when I touch them, and have since Thursday (today is Saturday). Could I be allergic to my keeper?

I have insurance through Kaiser, but I have yet to pick a doctor (and I'm worried about getting stuck with a non-vulva friendly one). I just wanted to make sure this wasn't something simple that could be treated with over the counter medicine. Vagisil helps with the itching, but I'm worried about just treating the symptoms and ignoring the cause.

Reading the FAQ, I thought it might be vaginitis, but I've never heard about it before. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I lost my virginity about 4 months ago, and since then, I've been having this very strange discharge. It had a slight brownish tint, and a very strange smell. I figured it was just the brown discharge I normally get a week before my period (I hope that's normal...).

That was on and off for a few months until I began to take birth control (OTC-lo) in mid-September. Recently I've been having discharge with very small, thin blood clots in it, and I thought it was just spotting. At times it almost looks like there is old blood in the discharge, but I'm never sure. It still has the same very distinct- almost foul smell to it. Right now I'm almost finished taking my last week of active pills (I have three more pills to take, including today).

I tried goolging it and checking the archives, but nothing seemed to fit my problem.

I don't think it's an STD/STI because I've only had sex with one person, and we are both free of any infections.

I called Telehealth, and the nurse told me that she couldn't diagnose my problem and told me to see a doctor.

Right now, I'm a little apprehensive about doing that, so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before...

Thanks a bunch.

After much googling, I still can't find a comprehensive list of all birth control pill types. I'm looking for something like a chart that has names, ingredients, etc...

I don't need info on how the pill works, or the risks/benefits (I have to be on BCP because of PCOS and severe hormonal imbalances that haven't responded to natural treatment, so I've researched all of this extensively!).

I'd be SO grateful if someone could point me to a chart that compares the different available oral contraceptives.

THANKS!

I have a quick question regarding putting oil or bubble bath in the bathtub.

I used to take bubble baths and oil baths but maybe a year ago, I stopped due to a very nasty irritation/infection I acquired from taking a bath using Victoria Secret's Bubblebath. Because its getting cold outside and putting mostiuerizers in the tub really help my skin but I'm afriad of getting that nasty, irritated vagina again. Are there any types of bubble baths or oils that you girlies could recommed?

(I don't know if this matters, but when I was a kid, I used to take plenty of bubble baths so it was a shock when the nasty irritation developed last year... That prolly means nothing but I wanted to throw that in)

Does anyone else sleep better when they get off just before going to sleep?

It seems like, on the nights I don't have an orgasm, I generally wake up in the middle of the night once or twice. But when I take the time to get off after getting into bed, I have a much more restful night of sleep.

All right! I HAVE OFFICIALLY STARTED THE PATCH as of today but I have one question for patch users.

Is it okay to take things like cold medicine, motrin, etc. while being on the Patch? I read the packet but I think I might have missed anything about that.

I would say that this is a silly question but the only silly questions are the ones not asked, I suppose! Thanks again.

So I started my period yesterday in the morning and for the first time in forever I was actually excited because I got to use my Diva Cup for the first time! Following some of the tips I found here, I used lube and the C fold and inserted my Diva with relatively little trouble.

Well, untill I stood up. Then I found that the stem was pinching me inside and was VERY uncomfortable. Since I had to be at work, I didn't have time to fix it so I took it out and wore a pad all day :(

But when I got home, I trimmed the stem way down and tried it again. I wore it all evening and overnight and then took it out this morning...

I must say I am WAY impressed. I had no leakage and insertion (which was the thing I was most worried about) has turned out to be much easier than I originally thought. It's comfortable and discreet, and I feel a lot cleaner than with tampons. Also, I typically cramp really, really badly the first 2 days of my period and this time, I've hardly cramped at all! It's been really wonderful.

Oh, and this morning I had an orgasm in my sleep so my vagina must approve of the Diva too ;P

I just wanted to share my pleasant experience. I'm so glad that I decided to get a Diva after reading all the good things about them here - I don't think I'll ever go back to pads and tampons!

One weird thing I noticed was that when I first insert my Diva, I cramp for a few minutes afterward, then it goes away. They're not bad cramps by any means but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

Can you use difulcan and the otc cream at the same time? I have had a very resistant YI and have been perscribed 1 diflucan a week for 4 weeks, but it has been 4 days and the itching hasn't even slowed down. I'm dying here and I know the cream usually stops the itching right away.

How far would you go to keep it secret that you have your period?
Let's here some stories, ladies! (And gentlemen...? I need someone to verify that I am indeed not the only one that does strange things to hide their period. Mods, if this is too dumb, please delete. ^_^)
For example...
I was staying with my grandparents while my parents were out of town. Yesterday, I got my period. I remembered to grab tampons before I went up there, but I forgot pads, which are what I sleep in at night. I saw that she had some pads (for any emergencies, I suppose) in her little bathroom closet thing (that's actually in the hallway...) and so I waited to shower until she had gone to bed and I opened the door. I looked at the box, and it didn't appear to be open. I was like, 'Crap. I totally don't want to open this. Cause then she'll definately know.' I was pondering my situation when I looked behind the box of pads.

I would like to say that if you're pressed, Depends work quite well for overnight pads. (You've just gotta use, like, three of them.)

Here's something I've been wondering about, and it was just mentioned in a comment to one of the most recent posts. Over and over I've heard that there are fewer (or no, depending on whom you ask) nerve endings further inside the vagina. This is often used in the argument that penis size doesn't matter, but also why we can't feel tampons or cups once they're in place. I have a lot of trouble believing this, as the owner of my vagina, which seems to dispute the argument. It seems I'm more sensitive further inside, and need stimulation there (i.e. a smaller penis wouldn't cut it). There is no decline in sensitivity the further in you go, where sex is concerned. I think the reason that I "can't feel" tampons is because they're a) smaller b) they quickly adapt to my body temperature and the shape of my insides c) they're not moving around. I can really only speak for myself, but if anyone agrees with me that we're not completely numb inside past the first few inches, then why are we spreading this misinformation (and is it to make men feel more confident that they can satisfy us)? What is the real data?

Maybe I'm totally wrong about this, and I must admit I'm not an expert on nerve endings and what the amount of them means for sensation (though I did do a lot of cell biology/nervous system stuff in high school-- it's shaky), but it just puts me on edge to think that false information about the female anatomy could be spread around for some questionable agenda. What is the deal?

Edit: Sorry for the goof up in the wording of the post and subject line. I was thinking about combined v. progesterone only pills (and I Googled with those terms), but for some reason, I tryped "monophasic v. triphasic." Brain fart.

I'm not currently on, and don't plan to use, hormonal birth control, so these questions are totally for my curiosity.

Why are combined hormone birth control pills slightly more effective -- with perfect use -- than progesterone only pills? Also, why must progesterine only pills must be taken in a narrower window each day?

Does it have something to do with preventing ovulation versus simply thickening cervical discharge? If so, could anyone point me to some studies in this direction? And does that mean one will start producing thinner cervical fluid within a couple of hours of not receiving the progesterone if not on synthetic estrogen as well? I've Googled and checked the archives but have found no real answers.

Hi, I'm new, you can call me Eddie.

Basically, my question is "What's normal?"

I don't have much to base it on, but my labia are sort of long, maybe like 1" inch or maybe longer (honestly, I don't want to be measuring). Is this normal? I've had pap-smears etc. and my doctor has not notitified me of any irregularity. But I suppose a question of- how do I say it? Taste, wouldn't really be commented on?

I'm a virgin, I'm not really thinking about having sex in the immediate future, but if I was I'm afraid to say I'd be embarrassed...

Ummm...? Information would be appreciated.

Edited to add: I have an extra little fold on the upper right side of clitoris. I feel like a freak.
