i've become a lot more sensitive in the past six months, and i've begun to pay attention to my body more carefully. this includes monitoring my menstrual cycle (because it's just COOL!) on cyclespage.com, eating healthier, etc.

anyway, i've noticed something. before and after my period, like clockwork, i get strange, UTI/yeast infection symptoms. it doesn't hurt an incredible amount to urinate, but it is slightly noticeable that i can tell the difference between pre/post period urination, and those of other times of the month. there is also a different smell to my vagina during these times. not necessarily a stronger smell, but a different one nonetheless. it doesn't smell like yeast (which makes me wonder if this it's mini yeast infections), and it doesn't really smell like ammonia either (mini UTI's?). there's no funky chunky discharge, which also kind of rules out a yeast infection. i know that sometimes YI's can be present without funky discharge, but there's also no itching. it's hard for me to tell if the pain is the actual urethra, or the labia minora AROUND the urethra that becomes slightly irritated when i pee during these times. there's no urgency to urinate all the time, and i do drink a good amount of water a day.

the weird/cool thing is that it ALWAYS goes away (knocks on wood). it usually stops a few days after my period ends (you know, when there's still a small amount of blood left when you wipe, but nothing's been coming out in huge amounts for days). everything returns to normal, and there's no weirdness when i urinate anymore.

what could this be? i know that periods have been known to knock out yeast infections, but why does this happen every month? i also know that the immune system fluctuates before and after your period, but i take lots of vitamins and minerals.

i'm stumped. if anybody has any input, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm new to the community, so if this has been asked previously, I apologize in advance.

I just started taking birth control today. I went to my doctor and everything, except, there was one thing that still didn't get cleared up in my mind. I'm going to talk to her when she calls again, but I figure asking people who have been on it longer wouldn't hurt.

I'm on Yasmin, if that makes any difference.

So after the week of sugar pills, after the period, when I start the new packet, will my body have to re-adjust to the pill in me again? During the first few days of taking the active pills again, will I still be susceptible to pregnancy, and should I be using extra-back-up methods during this time?

I got a little confused, because my doctor told me the pill will not work as a contraceptive until I've been taking it for about two weeks. I just wasn't sure if that meant for the first time only, or the first time I start from when I haven't taken it for a while (ie: a week).

Thanks in advance. Sorry if it's a silly question. :S

I'm actually about to start to go on birth control quite soon so I'm actually quite new with this.

how soon do I start taking them after? (during the night after "youknowwhat" or the morning after?)
What if I miss?
and when I finish the pack..then what?
How it will affect my period(s)?
side effects? (right after I start?!. I'm not on any other medications at all..I only take vitamins, really.)

Sorry. Some of these questions probably seem so basic but I told you I was new. :p

First off I would like to say I LOVE this community, it is so helpful and the people here are so nice and understanding and it's just overall a GREAT community.. now onto my question..

OK well, I was in a motorcycle accident about a month and couldn't walk too well and I am on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, so I decided to skip my period last month. It would just be a hassle to have to change a tampon when its hard enough for me to walk to the bathroom. So i started my new pack instead of taking my period pills. Everything was fine the first week (white pills) then the second week I had spotting. Not even enough for one of those slim fit tampons but on occasion I had like a clot, and the blood was either a brownish color or a red. I thought this was normal because I heard spotting was normal if you did the whole skip your period thing. So i spotted for all of week two. Then i was fine week three, and now week four when I`m suppose to get my period, I have spotting. If I left the tampon in all day it would prolly not even fill up. This worries me because I was on anti-biotics and sometimes they say antibiotics can effect your effectiveness of your BC, and me n my bf don't use condoms, and we had sex while I was on the antibiotics, I didnt even think about the effectiveness of my BC cuz it has ALWAYS worked for me. But now I`m sort of worried, I heard if you are pregnant you can "spot" for your period through you're whole first trimaster and I have been feeling very quesy lately. IDK if this is the right spot for it, if this would be better suited for [livejournal.com profile] amipregnant let me know and I`ll post over there but you girls are always so helpful I figured I'd give it a shot here first, any help you can give me would be great because I am NOT ready for a kid. I think I`m gonna wait to take a pregnancy test because I go back to my gyno July 1st so they should be able to tell me if I am. But any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ladies<3

I recently found out from my GYN that my cervix is "difficult to get to" and kinda far back. Will this make it difficult for me to conceive when I finally want children?

Thanks for the input.

For [livejournal.com profile] disclaimher, and anyone else who is interested:

I emailed my professor (I'm studying to become a Respiratory Therapist) about the question of hormonal birth control possibly causing asthma (She has asthma, is always talking about asthma, and is an asthma educator, so I figured she would know.) This is what she had to say )

Hope that helps!

The Details

In November 2002, Judy attended a homebirth which turned out to be an unexpected footling breech. A footling breech is a rare occurrence in which the baby's foot presents first, rather than the head. When she consulted with the parents, Heather and Jon Daley, about transporting to the hospital, they declined..

Judy attended the couple through the birth of their son, Isaac, and he was transferred to the hospital immediately following his birth. He died two days later.

While the Daleys strongly support Judy and do not wish to file charges, the Allegheny County Coroner held an inquest into the death of the baby and has recommended that charges of involuntary manslaughter be filed against Judy.

According to the prosecution "the attending midwife should have insisted that (the mother) be taken to a hospital as soon as the baby's breech position was recognized."

This opinion is shared by Coroner Cyril Wecht in his assertion that laboring women are unable to think rationally and thereby make decisions about their own care.

Has anyone experienced any obvious, fairly severe side effects (especiallyweight gain) from taking ECP twice in a short time (in this case, 5 days)?

A lot of things are going on right now but the thing that just came up is that my left labia minor has shrunk to half the size. It used to be thick, wrinkly and purple and much longer. It is half the length (when I pull it up along with the other, it is clearly half the size), not purple, but more reddish/pink (like the other one is when it gets closer to my body) and it's smooth and much, much thinner.

And some background to see if anyone can figure out the cause/correlation:
I might have endometriosis (pain during bowel movements, extremely painful cramps that affect my lower back through the front of my pelvic area)
I just had an abnormal pap smear - there were "slight changes" and "low grade dysplasia"
I just got over a yeast infection. I used a 7-day treatment and did notice that if the cream touched my labia or the first inch of my vaginal canal, I experienced intense burning.

Thanks for your help.

Another birth control pill question, but you all help so incredibly much, I wanna ask people I trust.

Ok, I just realized I have a problem.

When I went to my appointment in May and was given my birth control pills, the doctor told me that one box expired sooner than the rest, and to take them first. Now, I was told to wait until the Sunday of my following period after my appointment to start the pill, which is now. So, I'm suppose to start this Sunday. I just went to get the pills, to put them in my purse where I would remember them, and realized that the pills expire in June.

Obviously, right now, is June. So, I dunno what to do now. I have three months supply of pills. Should I take the pills that expire this month? Do they expire at the end of June. Or, should I take a different package of pills (that expires at a later date), and call my clinic on Monday, to ask them to replace the set of pills that expire in June?

Help?

Ok I had been on the pill for roughly 4 years after having my son. My husband and I decided that we want to have another baby so I got off the pill in December. Now, while on the pill I had regular, to the day, periods. Ever since I got off them, my cycle is getting longer and longer (I am usually 3 days late each month.) I have been charting and the like but so far no luck. Also, before I had my son, I was not on the pill, and around the middle of the month, I would get a mucus like discharge. No color or smell, just kinda like snot (sorry that's gross). While I was on the pill, I realize now that I never had it. So I guess my question is this: Is this discharge normal. I use a fertility calandar and I just realized today (I am slow on the uptake) that it always happens on my most fertile days. Any help and/or info would be greatly appreciated!

Basicly, I see my vagina as cursed. It's been a constant source of angst and trouble since I started using it. I've been sexually active for 6+ years. During that time I've been plagued by chronic yeast infections, non-responsive bacterial infections, anorgasmia, and now I've got genital warts on top of everything else.

I feel so aweful about it. It's a constant source of angst in my relationships, because sex is so damn complicated. Not having orgasms when I am able to have sex has been aweful, for me and the guys I've been with. I've had guys start crying after trying so hard for so long to get me off. Hell, I can't even get my self off anymore, even with a vibe. I've been to doctors. I've been to therapists. I'm really, desperately sick of this being so complicated. I'm sick of turning guys off, either by having infections, or not having orgasms, or now by having to explain that I have genital warts. I really want to be able to have a satisfying sex life, and not always be haunted by the normalacy I just cannot seem to achieve. I really feel doomed to always be like this. My therapists have all seemed to imply that I need to find other sources of physical satisfaction, but why can't I have what all these other people have?

I apologize for venting on you all, I've read this community for a while and you are all amazing. Any uplifting bits anyone might have for me would be really appreciated. I'm so frustrated and upset at this point it's not even funny. Thanks in advance.

ive talked to some people, but i thought i would come here and ask as well since there are so many members.

so today, i was put on paxil for my SAD. & while im hoping it will help, im also really worried about it killing my orgasms.

have any of you ever been on paxil? did it effect your sex life/orgasms?
i know everyone reacts differently to medicine. but im just curious about other people's experiences.

Just wanted to drop a quick note here to say that I went to yoga class today, with my DivaCup in, and when I got home and emptied it, there were no leaks.

So, to anyone who is thinking about getting one, I can tell you that if you put it in correctly, it doesn't leak one bit. Even when you're doing all sorts of crazy yoga poses.

Hooray for the DivaCup!

Is it safe to try to force my period to begin a week earlier than it's supposed to? Thanks in advanced!
