Hey all...

I was just wondering what kind of changes you noticed in your body emotionally and physically when you first started taking birth control pills.

Also since the pill is supposed to fool your body into thinking you are pregnant, does that mean you get the same symptoms as if you were pregnant?

I remember a few people here were going to try the new KY warming liquid. I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on it. Thanks!!!

this isn't really vagina related, but it is definently pertinent to women's issues. i know that most of the women here are in tune with their bodies and care very much about staying healthy. i was wondering if anyone has come across such communities like pro_ana or pro_starvation. there are girls in there who are something like 5'8 with an ideal weight of 85 lbs. i just think it's sickening and it's so obvious they have absolutely no self esteem. i was just wondering what everyone's opinion was of this.

I wanted to mention this article. This has been a hot topic, and this article has only proved to me more why I do not like our current President. Many of you will remember an order issued by Bush two years ago to block family planning money administered by the U.S. Agency for International Development. Well he has now made a move to withhold U.S. family planning help from overseas groups that promote or perform abortions with their own money through the State Department.

I find it sickening that someone would make such a broad sweep to deny so many women the health, pre-natal, and other assistance they desperately need. I understand he personally does not agree with abortion, but many times abortion is necessary to save the mothers life, and by removing that money, he could be sentencing countless women to a death they could have otherwise avoided.

Perhaps if you live in the upper 1% like Mr. Bush you don't need to worry because you can afford high class medical insurance, but for the majority of the world's poor this adds a huge burden on them. Namely the world's poorest women and children.

Talk about your compassionate conservatism *sarcasm*.

Bush Broadens Global Abortion Gag Rule

And you know i'd be willing to bet, if one of his daughters had a high risk pregnancy and abortion was her only option to survive, he'd condone it in a heartbeat. Hypocrit.

Edit: Adding this statement from an article:
UNFPA estimates that, with $34 million a year, the agency can prevent 2 million unwanted pregnancies, nearly 800,000 induced abortions, 4,700 maternal deaths, 60,000 cases of serious maternal illness, and more than 77,000 infant and child deaths.
It really puts the severity into perspective.

I have to get a cervical biopsy in a few weeks and I've heard that it's a pretty painful experience. The nurse I spoke to said to take a couple of advil about 2 hours beforehand because there might be some "mild cramping." However, I have a friend whose doctor told her the same thing and it ended up being a really painful experience. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle it? Maybe suggestions for pain medication to take before and after the procedure? My mom said she'd give me one of her Clonopins (sp?) beforehand, but I'm not sure that the dr. would be ok w/ that. If I take a couple Benadryl or part of one of my sleeping pills it might help, but again, I'd be a bit stoned. My BF might have some Vicoprofin from when he had his wisdom teeth out, so that may help. I don't know. I'm just a big baby about pain and I'm a little freaked out that I have to have this done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. I'm way overdue for finding a local doctor in New York City, but I'm rather nervous and would much rather go with someone recommended than someone picked at random from my provider (Cigna PPO) directory. Problem is, all the friends I've asked in the city either don't have a local gyn or don't like theirs. If anyone here has a gyn in the city they like, I'd be very grateful for a recommendation! thanks.
