Hi. I'm way overdue for finding a local doctor in New York City, but I'm rather nervous and would much rather go with someone recommended than someone picked at random from my provider (Cigna PPO) directory. Problem is, all the friends I've asked in the city either don't have a local gyn or don't like theirs. If anyone here has a gyn in the city they like, I'd be very grateful for a recommendation! thanks.

My first gyno has relocated to NYC (I live in NJ, the practice closed and since he lived in Manhattan anyway, he opened a new practice there). I used to have Cigna HMO, so I would guess he probably accepts Cigna PPO. I really liked him. His name is Dr. Bruce Bennett (Bennet?). He was always careful to explain what he was doing (both during the exam, as well as what BC he thought I should use and why), always asked general health stuff as well, and when he heard my long-term boyfriend and I had broken up and he was already engaged (a month later), his reaction was "okay, I'll do a full STD screen, that will give you one less thing to worry about right now." Which was exactly what I needed. I was very upset when he moved his practice to NYC; I don't have a gyno at all now, my GP does all my gynecological stuff.
