Wrong type of Medaspor for YI?

Hi there VP! I have a yeast infection, for which I just bought some Medaspor, which has worked in the past, but now I'm wondering if I've got the right type. It doesn't say 'vaginal cream' on the packaging, and the package insert isn't helping me either. Is it still safe to use on my vulva? I'm mostly just itchy externally. I haven't used the cream yet.

Oye, I'm guessing you posted this some time ago... If you can't get back to the store to make sure you either bought the right type of cream, or to buy the right type of cream (we're not even 100% sure this is the wrong one) try it - don't full out rub it in on all of those places that can be hard to clean easily, but just a little, on the outermost spot and see if it helps. Should it not help, or at this point you're not even willing to try (which I wouldn't blame you) get your butt back to a pharmacy quick, yes? And in the meantime, use cold water.

Ah, I just posted about an hour ago. Thanks, I think I'll try a little spot nearer my thigh and see if that works, and have a wet cloth ready for if it starts burning. I might just have to go back to the pharmacy later.

With something like a yeast infection, that sounds like a good plan - your yeast balance is already off, using the wrong product can make it worse. Have you tried looking it up online?

If you are just treating external symptoms, the standard Medaspor cream that you have should be fine. It seems like the Medaspor vaginal cream is used to treat internal infections. Looks like they both contain clotrimazole 1% w/w which is pretty standard here (UK) for treating fungal infections all over the body, including vulvovaginal yeasties.

If you're still worried, contact a pharmacist to confirm that it's safe to use :)
