I started nuvaring about 3 weeks ago. I am on the 3rd week now. I am starting to have a problem with acne. My face skin was fine before I started it. I only got the random zit when I was on my period. I haven't been on any hbc for the last 2 and a half years. I am just wondering if anyone else who is using nuvaring has had a problem with acne? And if you did have a problem in the beginning did it go away as your body got use to nuvaring? Nuvaring is kinda the only option for me right now and if this acne keeps up I am going to have to come off of it.

I had the opposite happen to me. My face really cleared up. Night and day. I may have to come off of it because of dry eye issues. I will be REALLY bummed if I can't use any birth control at all because of it...I feel your pain! I really don't want to return to acne.

Know how some people experience PMS symptoms, spotting or mood swings when they first start HBC? Acne's one of those whacky hormone fluctuation-caused side effects.

Give it two months, maybe three, before giving up.

I don't recall how my skin reacted to starting the NuvaRing, but when I first got my Mirena, I had persistent cystic acne and oily skin for six months or so. It settled down within a year, and now (18 months in) I have very clear skin.

i usually have acne associated with my period, but when i first started the three hormonal BCs that i've taken, including the nuvaring, i've had bad acne outbreaks that eventually cleared up after 2-3 months. then my skin was better than it ever was off birth control. i'm at the phase in a new BC where it's just starting to get better, so i feel your pain.
