sock puppet sorry
Anyways I have big thighs I always have and they rub together. But lately the part where my thighs meet my vagina have been rubbing against SOMETHING like crazy and it burns...really bad. Maybe that part is rubbing against my vaginal lips (ugh sorry for the lack of terminology) or my clothes but it hurts like a b*tch! And it sucks because I have to walk around A LOT for my job. It hurt the most when I went to a conference last month and had to walk all over. It was really bad it looks like I have scab/burn marks from where I guess the skin went raw? It's super tender to touch and when it starts to heal it gets really dry. Anyways what can I do to prevent this &/or relieve the pain (other than lose weigh which I'm not sure will help the problem or not) I try using baby rash ointment but it just soaked into my skin after a while and didn't help.
The pain is really bad too. When I went to the conference I was in tears towards the end because it was so bad and I usually can handle pain.
*sidenote I did recently start getting brazillian waxes but when the rubbing occurred it was when I hadn't went in a long time and this time it's happening right after a visit. The place I go to is very clean though they don't double dip or do any other waxing no nos.
Please help me!
Thanks in advance!

Ouch, that sucks! I've dealt with similar stuff, let's see if I can find anything to help. (Actually, something similar in my teens made me stop wearing underwear. Ow.)

You probably need to treat it with *something* at this point, so a doctor's visit might be a good idea if that's possible for you. They might prescribe an anti-fungal cream or suggest a better ointment than you were trying. The baby ointment is probably a good idea, but if you're still irritating the area all the time (by, you know, *walking*), it might not be enough to help it clear up. I'm sure others have more specific ideas...

If the skin just looks inflamed rather than actually open and seeping, maybe try coconut oil or some other neutral-ish oily stuff? The friction of skin rubbing against skin is probably part of the problem. The other part might be sweat - moist areas stay irritated a long time and can harbor yeasts and things. Air dry thoroughly post-shower, don't wear underwear to bed, try to let those creases air out. One thing that's worked for some people (when moisture really was the problem) is to fold a light pantyliner in half and put it in the crease to wick moisture away.

I hope something works soon!

ok, this is going to sound like a joke, but i swear its not. there's a product made for bike riders called "anti monkey butt powder". its designed to help with chafing, and is supposed to really work.

Is the rubbing/sore on your thighs, thigh-groin crease, or labia? My advice varies depending what specifically is affected.

Let me preface this by saying that this post only applies if it's definitely chafing that's causing your problems and not something like a yeast infection.

I've experienced this as a result of waxing - I think it's because the pubic hair normally cushions that region or provides a layer in between the thigh and the labia majora. I also have the same thigh chafing problem in the summer and will get the raw/tender pain between my upper thighs. It's super painful and made it impossible to wear skirts in the summer, which was really upsetting for me. I eventually found a couple of products that people use for this. One is Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. A lot of people swear by it, but it's actually not my favorite. I find that on really hot and humid days, it only lasts me a short time because sweat makes it ineffective (the same problem I had when I tried just plain powder). It especially doesn't work if I put it on, go sit in a hot car or whatever, then get out and want to walk somewhere. The sweating I do while I'm sitting seems to make the whole area moist, which makes the power gel useless. The product that I love is called Body Glide. It's a much thicker product, and it doesn't come off with sweat - in fact, it's hard to even wash off. It's kinda like a more solid version of petroleum jelly, and it comes in a deodorant-like stick. It absolutely takes care of all my chafing problems. Both products are available on Amazon if you can't find them in your local pharmacy (or Body Glide might be available in a local running store as runners use it a lot).

Good luck finding something to take the pain away in the meantime!

I've got some prevention ideas, but nothing for treatment...sorry. Sounds terribly painful!!

I believe that one reason we have hair is to prevent skin from rubbing painfully on skin. So you might try growing the hair in and see if that helps.

There are anti-chafing creams, as others have mentioned...although I wouldn't necessarily recommend using them on broken skin.

If you're wanting to wear skirts, I've heard good things about pettipants as a chafing preventative. Not sure this will help with the vulva issue, but will at least help your thighs.

Second on the pettipants idea! As a big girl who lives in the desert, the long leg, moisture wicking undies from Junonia are a life saver when I have to wear skirts for work (I'm on my feet all day too).

I guess it's similar, but I have a pair of bike shorts specifically for skirt or loose shorts. I live in Alabama, and moist thighs get really chafy.

I like all the suggestions here and am just chiming in to give my two cents. EVERY year I get a heat rash where my underwear meets the creases of my thighs. Every. Damn. Year. It is red, itchy, and just gross. What works for me is first wearing underwear where the elastic around the legs is covered in fabric or made of fabric - not plastic. Also, just plain wearing underwear so my clothes aren't rubbing against my body helps. When the rash comes around, I put a thick layer hydrocortisone cream on the effected area and sleep without undies. I usually do this for a few nights and it goes away. Also, I diligently dry the area after showers. I have noticed that if I don't I am more susceptible to the rash.

Heh, I have to *stop* wearing underwear, you have to *start*. Bodies are so strange.

Ow...that sounds so painful! I'm sorry!

I use an anti chafing cream from Monistat (I think) that comes out as a clear gel and then dries to a powder like finish, and it really, REALLY helps. It comes in a purple tube and it's in any drugstore with the yeast treatments. I hope you can find something that works!
