STREP.

i just got a call from my doctor with pap results i had done last week. they said i have a yeast infection (not having any symptoms) and that i have strep. what IS strep? i'm being given some antibiotics and two doses of diflucan. anyone have any info on the infection and how the hell i got it, etc? thanks.

Do you have a sore throat and did you have a throat swab? If so, that would be strep throat. If the strep result came from the pap, you probably have some type of vaginal/cervical strep infection. Some kinds of streptococcus bacteria can be found in your vagina, naturally, along with other bacteria and yeast, but the pap probably showed an imbalance of some sort. It sounds like you have lots of yeasties and lots of strep, hence the diflucan and antibiotics. You could call your doctor's office back and ask for more information.
