[sorry if this is TMI]
I think I have an ongoing yeast infection that will NEVER die...
There's no itching/burning/excessive discharge... but I would feel weird having sex with someone ... and even worse having someone go down on me. There's the ... occasional little white glob & just a nasty acidic ~flavor.~
anyway..
Last April, I went to health services on campus. The lady was like, "yuuup there's yeast up there." She gave me an insert thing that should've killed "anything/everything growing in there."
Apparently it didn't work? ..
Should I just go buy some Monistat? :(

Also, I would eat a lot of yogurt with live cultures in it. I hope you feel better.

Date: 2008-09-12 02:13 am (UTC)I think she gave me Diflucan on one occasion .. and then a 3-night cream applicator thing. This was all before summer, though.
She told me to stay away from yogurt/other milk products/carbs. I wish I could find unsweetened yogurt here @ college... :/

Date: 2008-09-12 04:34 am (UTC)Eating garlic, or using a garlic clove suppository can help also. Or, you can take garlic pills. It helps kill yeast, and if you eat it/take pills, it can work preventatively.
But, someone already mentioned that you could just be experiencing normal discharge. Depending on where you are in your cycle, it could be pretty normal. If you are able to get to a drug store like CVS or something you can get a screening kit to see if you have anything going on. I don't know if a campus clinic would sell those. They should, but that doesn't mean they do.

Date: 2008-09-12 03:02 am (UTC)The best way to get rid of it 100% is to start taking acidophillus. You can buy it at the health food store or Whole Foods, etc. That should prevent the problem. Also, you can take garlic capsules.
Sometimes they come back over and over again because the yeast has entered your intestines. If you take the garlic or acidophillus, that should also clear up.
Good luck!

Date: 2008-09-12 01:12 pm (UTC)and I've got to agree with atalanta0jess, maybe the way you worded the HIV/AIDS and diabetes test suggestion was a little much. maybe "need to be tested" could have been replaced with "should be tested." I have recurrent yeast and just went to the doctor for it, and I have neither HIV/AIDS nor diabetes.
(I just typed and deleted for 20 minutes, trying to figure out how to best put that, without sounding offensive or rude. please don't take it that way :))

Date: 2008-09-12 03:12 am (UTC)If I were you, I'd go get checked for yeast again...no point in shoving nasty chemicals up your snatch if what you're experiencing is just normal stuff. :)

Date: 2008-09-12 03:21 am (UTC)You could get a test if you feel more comfortable that way, but I would just start on trying to eat probiotic daily (yogurt, kefir, etc.) Maybe you have a convenience store nearby that you can get it at? For preventative purposes it is ok if it has fruit/fruit juice in it (but straight up corn syrup or sugar added would be undesirable.)
