[sorry if this is TMI]

I think I have an ongoing yeast infection that will NEVER die...

There's no itching/burning/excessive discharge... but I would feel weird having sex with someone ... and even worse having someone go down on me. There's the ... occasional little white glob & just a nasty acidic ~flavor.~

anyway..

Last April, I went to health services on campus. The lady was like, "yuuup there's yeast up there." She gave me an insert thing that should've killed "anything/everything growing in there."

Apparently it didn't work? ..

Should I just go buy some Monistat? :(

I'd say, if possible, try and make your way to planned parenthood or see if health services can give you a script for diflucan if the monistat doesn't work. But it's normal for yeast infections to occur several months apart from each other.

What was it that the doctor gave you?

Also, I would eat a lot of yogurt with live cultures in it. I hope you feel better.

I have NO idea why she told you to not eat yogurt! Actually, if anything you should eat plain yogurt--oh you said that. LOL.

You can even use yogurt to get rid of it, like literally put the yogurt inside of you..

Sugar feeds yeast :(. If you can find any fruit on the bottom yogurt, you can just not mix it together and eat the yogurt part, or if there is extra irritation, you can apply it topically or internally because of the good cultures in it.

Eating garlic, or using a garlic clove suppository can help also. Or, you can take garlic pills. It helps kill yeast, and if you eat it/take pills, it can work preventatively.

But, someone already mentioned that you could just be experiencing normal discharge. Depending on where you are in your cycle, it could be pretty normal. If you are able to get to a drug store like CVS or something you can get a screening kit to see if you have anything going on. I don't know if a campus clinic would sell those. They should, but that doesn't mean they do.

Okay, first of all you need to be tested for AIDS and Diabetes. Those can both be a cause for constant yeast. Furthermore, using Monistat or Diflucan will only temporarily fix the problem. If it isn't another disease or antibiotics causing the problem, it has to be something else. Do you eat a lot of sugar? Try reading The Yeast Connection.

The best way to get rid of it 100% is to start taking acidophillus. You can buy it at the health food store or Whole Foods, etc. That should prevent the problem. Also, you can take garlic capsules.

Sometimes they come back over and over again because the yeast has entered your intestines. If you take the garlic or acidophillus, that should also clear up.

Good luck!

I don't think that a hard-to-kick yeast infection automatically means you need to be tested for HIV (which is what you'd be tested for, not AIDS, btw) or diabetes. When your vaginal balance gets thrown off, it can be difficult to get back to normal, even if there are no other health problems involved. It doesn't really sound like the OP needs to be concerned with either of those at this point - having one yeast infection that doesn't get totally cured is NOT a sign of much of anything...its really pretty normal.

Yeah, I wrote AIDS and then realized I shoulda written HIV. One of my close friends is a doctor--graduated from UCLA and when he read this the first thing he said was to test for those two. Doesn't mean I'm saying she has them, but you always have to be careful with these things.

I don't know if I would say anything is 100% for getting rid of a YI. what may work 100% for you may not work at all for someone else. I have been doing the acidophilus thing for months and my YI is not gone. I have also tried the garlic method (eating and inserting) every time I've ever had an infection, and it seemed to help for a day or two, and then get even worse.

and I've got to agree with atalanta0jess, maybe the way you worded the HIV/AIDS and diabetes test suggestion was a little much. maybe "need to be tested" could have been replaced with "should be tested." I have recurrent yeast and just went to the doctor for it, and I have neither HIV/AIDS nor diabetes.

(I just typed and deleted for 20 minutes, trying to figure out how to best put that, without sounding offensive or rude. please don't take it that way :))

Ummm, I don't see the difference. Should be or need be, same shit...

I've found that over the counter things--Monistat, Canestan, etc--never ever work for me. The only thing that has ever worked was Fluconazol (Diflucan).

Are you sure its yeast? It sounds like you could just be having normal vaginal fluid, unless you can say for certain that the taste is abnormal for you. Is it different than in the past? Vaginas are supposed to be acidic, so its not too surprising that it would TASTE acidic. Or maybe you're drinking less water now than you used to, so the taste is more concentrated.

If I were you, I'd go get checked for yeast again...no point in shoving nasty chemicals up your snatch if what you're experiencing is just normal stuff. :)

I would second the above comment that what you are describing sounds like normal vagina. Not only are vag's supposed to be acidic, but an occasional white glob is what the cervix puts out (occasionally.)

You could get a test if you feel more comfortable that way, but I would just start on trying to eat probiotic daily (yogurt, kefir, etc.) Maybe you have a convenience store nearby that you can get it at? For preventative purposes it is ok if it has fruit/fruit juice in it (but straight up corn syrup or sugar added would be undesirable.)

I agree that it could definitely just be normal discharge. I usually have a good amount of it, and the occasionally white globby thing is totally normal for me. OP, if you feel really self-conscious about someone going down on you and encountering that, you could always (and this is may be a bit TMI) look in yourself with a mirror if you know you're going to be getting some later that day and clean yourself with your fingers - I've been able to see little blobby bits before and just wiped them out with my finger.

I'll third the comment that it sounds like normal vagina. If it's the taste you're worried about, eating lots of pineapple is supposed to make you sweeter. Other than that, if you don't have any itching or irritation at all, just try to accept it as your body's normal state of being.

I had a similar come-and-go yeast problem before. Since I started taking acidophilis tablets every day, yeast down there is GONE. I swear by this!
