I get yeast infections somewhat easy. I used to get them constantly with my first boyfriend. My second boyfriend I got 2 or 3 a year. Lately I haven't been getting them much but did get a couple after my period and when I used some summers eve wash. I tried the wash again and got a really bad yeast infection so I'm sure that is related. Typically I just use water but after a period or a time when I am not feeling so fresh, is there anything I can use? Maybe I can wash around the area but be careful to not get it actually in there? Also, when I don't have a yeast infection, and things are normal-I think- sometimes I still get that white stuff stuck in the folds. I usually use my fingernail to kind of scrape it out. Is that normal? Do other people do that?

Also, does anyone drink asodophilus(sp?)milk for preventing yeast infections?

I use that QV body wash that has no soap or anything in it.

It's amazing. I use it everywhere and I've had never had a yeast infection.

if you absolutely must douche, try using a cup of water with four tablespoons apple cider vinegar. this can also be used to help cure a yeast infection. however, douching is NOT a good idea for a healthy vagina - the vagina is self-cleaning and it maintains its own healthy pH, which keeps bacteria and yeast under control most of the time. some women find that Other things that their vaginal pH is easily affected by things such as birth control pills, other hormone supplementation, douching, spermicides (including those in condoms), nicks in the vaginal wall from tampons, too little lubrication during intercourse, using a commercial lube that their body is sensitive to, or intercourse with someone who has a yeast infection. both men and women can have a "silent" yeast infection without any obvious symptoms, and can pass it back and forth, so if you're having regular sex with somebody, they should be treated too.

active (live culture) acidophilus in any form - milk, yogurt, or pills - can help prevent and cure yeast infections. direct application of live culture yogurt can be done to relieve yeast. use the applicator you get with a vaginal yeast cream, fill it with yogurt, and insert. you can also add some live culture yogurt to your vinegar duche. you'll want to use an unsweetened ("plain") yogurt.

Question regarding putting yogurt in your vagina--do you leave it in there, or rinse it out? What do you do while it's in there? I'm assuming it doesn't stay put. Wear a pantyliner? Sorry, just never done that before. Never had a yeast infection, at least not that I know of. Thanks :)

sorry, i should have mentioned this originally! leaving it in is fine - you can rinse it out with the vinegar douche if you must. you don't need to use a lot, and just as with the pharmaceutical yeast creams, you may have some leakage, so wearing a pantiliner is helpful. my suggestion would be to do it before bed, and wear a pantiliner that night and the next morning.

I'm YI-prone too, and all I wash with is water - but I open myself up and make sure to clean everything with my fingers. I also eat yogurt every day - don't know if that actually helps or not, but I like to think it does, plus it's a healthy snack. :)

It is normal to get some white residue - its called smegma. :)

If you really need to wash inside your vagina, the suggest of using vinegar is a good one. You could also use diluted hydrogen peroxide or water with a little boric acid in it.

I have Platex Petals, I haven't used them much but when I have they're totally fine. They come individually wrapped so they're easy to stick in a pocket or a bag, and they're very gentle.
And I use Dove sensitive skin soap in the shower and it's never irritated the area at all. I mean obviously I'm not shoving it inside of myself but I'll wash around the area really well and make sure it's very clean, it never causes any pain or irritation.

idk about YIs, I've never gotten them. Can't help you there, sry bb =(

oh and PS all I've ever heard is that Summers Eve is really bad for you. This may be totally wrong but that's what I've always been told, so idk
