Sorry for another BC question but...
my boyfriend is vising in on April 11th to the 16th. And I should start taking my placebo pills on the 13th. I usually get my period by the 2nd or 3rd placebo pill. But since my boyfriend is visiting and we want to take advantage of all of our time together...is it possible that I can take the placebo pills a week earlier without risking protection? I would just skip the entire placebo week this month but last time there was a lot of spotting and I don't want to deal with that again. Thanks in advance. You guys are amazing. =]

Nope, it's not possible. You need to take at least 21 active pills before the placebo week in order to be guaranteed protection during it. Stopping active pills early will mean that your protection will be compromised.

Can you take the first week of your next cycle, and *then* your placebo pills, to put your period off by a week? Talk with your doctor or pharmacist, but I used to do that when I needed to.

If you're not going to be sexually active till the 11th, you might try stopping your pills today, taking a placebo tomorrow, and then taking active pills again so that you have 7+ days of active pill-taking before there is any sex.

That will compromise your protection till you've had 7 days of active pills, and if you're going to try this, you will almost certainly need to extend your active pills into the next pack. (I.e., you took a really-short placebo interval early, which will have to count as your placebo time, and then you need to be taking your pills to make sure that your ovaries don't wake up from this -- so you'll have an extra few days running into your next pack.)

And it might not work, with the time periods we're looking at -- you won't be able to be off active pills for very long, if you want to have taken 7+ of them by the time your boyfriend visits, so your body may not recognize that it's time for the withdrawal bleed early, and it may try spotting at the usual time.

And it is playing fun'n'games with the pills, which would be a little twitch-inducing for me.

I'd suggest asking the boyfriend if he minds y'all putting down a towel for bleedy-sex, myself.

Did you skip the placebo pills last month? Meaning, you would have been on the pill straight for 5 weeks? Then, yes, you could skip this month's placebo, because you would have taken more than 21 active pills in a row. But if the time you mentioned when you skipped the week was a few months ago, and so you've only have taken 2 weeks of pills, then no, you can't skip this month and still be protected. If you want to avoid your period, then you could do this, just make sure to still use condoms.
