skin tags

i've had this flap of skin type bump on my inner thigh/super close to my labia groin area. it's been there for about a year--before i became sexually active.
i researched this online and found out about "skin tags"
i looked at pictures and they all closely resemble what i have. i was wondering if anyone has any experience with getting skin tags in their groin area and what they did to treat them?

I had one in my armpit and they burnt it off. They just zapped it a few times with this hot needle and then it falls off on its own a few days later. It wasn't that bad until my mom told them to do it a few more times "just to make sure" then it was quite painful - but the pain didn't last long and it did fall off on it's own and never grow back. I assume they could do the same thing on your groin though this was quite a while ago - they may have better methods now.

I have one on my outer labia (labium?). The groin is a common place to get them.

Um....why do you have to "treat" it? Does it cause you pain or anything? I just leave mine alone...I don't really see any reason to remove it since it's not hurting any body. :)

I just read this post out of interest and realised THATS what's on my neck!
I only ever get tiny ones though.

I yanked mine off. (>_<) It didn't really hurt and it didn't bleed. It was really, really, reallyreally small though; I don't know if I'd recommend this method on a moderate- to large-size one because it could cause more trauma and bleeding than it would help.

They're most common in places that get a lot of friction, like under your arms, etc. I knicked one off in my armpit with a razor once and I was surprised at the amount of bleeding there was!

i've only ever had skin tags on the upper part of my body, but my dermatologist/father/boss just used a little scissory contraption to snip them off. there was no pain, and it was a really fast procedure. my skin tags were very small, probably less than 1mm, but i have seen some that are much, much larger, and that would impact your treatment options. i don't believe that they need to be treated, per se, because i think the removal is considered cosmetic. but if you would feel better about your body without them, you could probably set up a quick appointment with a dermatologist. however, you might want to find out ahead of time if it would be considered a cosmetic procedure, because insurances will often deny those claims and make you pay the whole thing out of pocket.

I've had a few removed from my neck but I've got one in my left armpit and one on my left inner thigh near the crease that I leave alone. Both are pretty small and don't really bother me with any kind of pain, so I just leave them there. I've never had problems with shaving or anything. If they were bigger, got irritated by friction or interfered with my sporadic shaving, I'd have them removed too. (The ones on my neck I used to catch with my hairbrush and rip them off all the time. They'd bleed like crazy so I had them off.)
