For those of you who have switched the brand of birth control you take, how did you go about it with your doctor? Did you just call and explain that you wanted to change,  and then they called in a  new prescription? Or did you have to make an appointment? I really would like to switch from Yasmin to something else, but I am pretty sure my insurance only allows me one obgyn visit a year without a referral. I am not sure if the once a year thing applies only to yearly exams or not. Any insight is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Yep. Yasmin was fucking my skin up and I knew I wanted a combo pill and I didn't want to bleed much, but I didn't want to get extra scripts and have to pay extra (insurance only covers so many packs a year for me). Do some research, check out the drug teirs/generics with your insurance (idk if everyone has teirs, but teir 1 durgs are $50 for me, teir 2 is $35, and teir 3 is $10), read side effects (including how often they occur), etc.

If you told her you wanted to switch and didn't know, she'd more than likely put you on Yaz or OrthoTri Cyclen (probably Lo). I never took Yaz so I can't say anything about it, but OTC Lo was okay and my skin improved on it. There's really not a lot that can kill my sex drive though.
