Switching birth control brands

For those of you who have switched the brand of birth control you take, how did you go about it with your doctor? Did you just call and explain that you wanted to change,  and then they called in a  new prescription? Or did you have to make an appointment? I really would like to switch from Yasmin to something else, but I am pretty sure my insurance only allows me one obgyn visit a year without a referral. I am not sure if the once a year thing applies only to yearly exams or not. Any insight is very much appreciated.

I switched from Yasmin to Seasonale and I just had to call in and have a quick conversation with my doctor who reminded me how to take BC again.

i just call. when i've had to do it, i've spoken to a nurse, who has spoken to the doctor (because she usually is seeing patients, it's a small clinic), and then they've called me back. it's a bit time-consuming, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than going in. my insurance only covers one yearly visit as well, and i'm not sure of the specifics. just make sure, if you have a certain brand in mind and speak to a nurse, that you mention it and specifically tell them that you want a prescription for that.

I would suggest calling your doctor and speaking to your doctor or his/her nurse (however the office operates). You should be able to explain what you don't like about your current hbc, and your doctor should suggest a different brand for you to switch to. It shouldn't be a problem!

Like several folks here have said, I used to just call. I switched pills six times... goodness knows I wasn't in the office that frequently!
