I will be 46 next month and I know I am absolutely not pregnant because I have not had sex in months. Plus I had my tubes tied about 15 years ago.  I've had a really thick brownish discharge off and on since Sunday.  First there was some actual red stuff for about 6 hours and then brown spotting, but not like a real period.  According to my calculations, I should have my period next week, but here is this thing happening to me that I don't understand. The weird thing is, I really really really feel like I'm menstruating. I'm cramping, cranky, and etc. I have everything except the actual blood and clots.

My periods were erratic and long and heavy when I was in my teens and twenties. Then a doctor put me on BCPs so I didn't have to put up with that. I took them about 10 years until I had my tubes tied. After that, I had regular, normal periods. I started having periods when I was 14.

I think I have night sweats sometimes. Will I get a proper period next week on schedule? Or is this bloodless, brown random discharge my period? There's very little info floating around about this kind of thing. I asked my mom and embarrassed her to death. That was a complete waste of time.

My doctor told me in Jan. I have high cholesterol and triglycerides and to lose some weight. At the same time I had a normal pap smear and mammogram. I've lost 16 lbs. but I'm still severely over weight. I'm 5'3 and weigh 195 lbs. I'm following the standard low fat diet any doctor will give you and getting some mild exercise.

The doctor said at my age, anything could happen down there. Fine, but what is it? Is there a web page that explains this stuff?
