Ok, this may sound like a really dumb question but since silicone lube doesn't remove with just water how do you get it off (?) the inside of your vagina?  Does it naturally clean out or do you have to use soap inside?

anal lube

Hi everyone! So my boyfriend and I are considering anal sex. We've tried it before, but due to improper lube/nervousness/general unease with the whole thing, it didn't work out quite as well as planned.

So this time we are coming fully prepared! A box of condoms and a ton o' lube! Fun for everyone, I'm sure. >.>

So my boyfriend left the lube buying to me. I got KY Touch massage 2 in 1 warming gel because I figure, if the anal doesn't work out, we can use it for massages. Have any of you had experience using this type of lube before? It's fragrance free (for a content cooter) and condom compatible (because he's not sticking it up there without a rubber). I know we should use about a metric ton of it, but I just haven't had any experience with it.

I'm babbling, so...any input would be awesome! Thanks!

So, for curiosity's sake, does anyone actually like warming lube? KY or whatever other brand. Every time I see it mentioned here, it's bad. I don't like either, it burns. But they make the stuff, it has to be succesful somewhere... Who likes it?

Sorry if this has been discussed before! Delete if necessary.

Does anybody have a favorite glycerin-free water-based lube that's thick enough for anal play?

By that turn, does anybody have a LEAST FAVORITE glycerin-free water based lube that's thick enough for anal play?

My boyfriend is into recieving, and I get yeast infections when I'm downwind of glycerin. One all-purpose lube is also a lot easier to manage than having a drawer full of lubes that are only compatable with some orifices/toys.

Thanks a bunch!

Hey all. Comments to a post a few days ago recommended against using silicone-based lubricant with different items such as the NuvaRing, and diaphragms were included in that list. I looked online but haven't found any references to this; nowhere does it say that the silicone will react with a diaphragm to chemically decompose it. Does anyone have any good sources as to if they shouldn't be combined? I'm about 90% sure that I used them together a few months ago, and since I haven't been having sex since then, I'm not worried about being pregnant, but I'd like to know if I need a new diaphragm. Thanks!

I just finished treating a mild YI and am ready to jump back into the saddle, just in time for my birthday. However, I am still a little dryer than usual and since we don't use condoms I think lube would be a good idea. The FAQ had this to say about the issue:

Some people argue that yeast infections can in fact be caused or made worse by insufficiently lubricated sexual intercourse; as a general rule, it is always a good idea to stick to water-based lubricants that are specifically designed for sex (source).

What about silicone-based lubricants? I'm not much of a lube fan myself because I find them sticky and a bit messy, but I definitley prefer silicone lubes to anything else I've tried. Is there a reason that the FAQ specifically suggest water-based lubes?

So. A recent VP post got me thinking about the proportion of women who use bottled lube -- like Liquid Silk, for example -- during penetrative sex versus the proportion of women who rely solely on their natural lubrication for sexual activities.

I definitely think both are fine; the only "right" is what works well for you and your body. And I'm sure there are folks who have fanfuckingtastic lubeless sex, just as I'm sure that there are women who require additional lube for sex to be a comfortable and fanfuckingtastic experience. What I'm not sure about, however, is how many people are at which points on the spectrum.

So, after a quick discussion with the rest of the VP Team, I decided that I'd like to get some feedback from VPers.

My questions are as follows:
1) How often do you use bottled/store-bought lube during sexual activities, and how often do you rely on your body's natural lubrication?

2) For whatever type of lubrication you use, how often do you feel "wet enough" for sex? How often is sex dry, painful, or otherwise uncomfortable?

3) For times when you don't use artificial lube, do you do anything "special" (extended foreplay, for example) to ensure that you're sufficiently wet?
I'm interested in knowing about the full range of situations, so any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi all,

I apologize if this has been discussed in the past, but I thought it was important enough to warrant a new discussion. I just saw in another post a brief discussion of whether or not it is ok to use silicone-based lubricants with the Nuvaring. Someone said that it's definitely not ok because the silicone can coat the ring and prevent it from working properly. Has anyone else heard this? I'm very concerned because I have never come across this before and I have read up like crazy on the ring! Also, I volunteer for a sexual health education group and we distribute free little lube packets (water-based AND silicone) and I want to make sure I'm counseling people correctly as to when the silicone is safe to use! Thanks for your help!

ah help. ok, me and my boyfriend decided to try the KY warming gel or whatever and the first time we tried it, it BURNED like my vagina was on fire or something. is that normal? i mean, yeah it was warming but it was BURNINGGG like no other. so we went to walmart to get something else, and so we decided to get this KY(i think) spray lube stuff, idk something silk spray. and when we tried that too it burned to no end. this time, i didnt make him stop & just fed up with the pain & after about 5minutes the pain started to go away. am i just allergic to the KY products or what?
also, we had this original lube, nothing special, and thats what we had first started using when we first started having sex.

well, i was noticing after he put it on the condom or whatever, his hand would get all red & look like a rash, and so did his "area". i came to the conclusion that he's allergic to that kind.

and now we are kind of at a..well we have a bit of a problem
does anyone know some sensitive lubes? as im thinking im either allergic to KY products, or im becoming more sensitive.
something that he might not be allergic too and something that wont irritate me?

its so irritating when we are trying to have sex and we have these kind of problems now..
