The last time i've had my period was about 9 - 11 months ago, i'm 15 and theyre pretty irregular, also
i havent had sex before. should i be worried?

has anyone else had this happen to them before?

i checked it out today and theyve given me some herbal medicine to regulate it, but opinions?

There are many, many different things that could cause your periods to stop and be erratic. Are you eating right? Are you overly stressed out? Have you been to the ob/gyn yet? It could be anything at this stage in the game. I wish I could be more helpful.

How many times have you had your period before this? Rough estimate? I got mine when I was close to 14, I had two periods within the span of three months and then nothing for close to a year. I didn't become regular until about a year ago and I'm almost 24.

I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Honestly, I think you're okay. As long as there's nothing else going with it, pain or anything, I think it's just your body settling itself in.

might wanna get checked for polycystic ovarian syndrome. lots of women have it, including me. i have always been irregular, but as a teen, i would have long absences in between periods like you're having. not saying that this is what is wrong, but it won't hurt to get checked for it, as PCOS is something you will need to treat.

you don't have to have all of these, but these are fairly common: irregular periods. abnormal hair growth (about the face or around the nipples). acne, but as a teen, you get acne anyway. being a little overweight. when i was a teen, i wasn't overweight at all, but i still had the pcos. i just didn't know. i wasn't ovulating, i had bad cramps, heavy bleeding. sometimes i have really long periods, sometimes 2 in one month, or other times, i won't have one for 3-8 months. my cycle was wacky, and i continue to, now at 27, have a few hitches with my periods, but as of late, they've begun to stabilize. hopefully, they'll stay that way.

again, this may not be something you have, but it's always good to know, as it can affect your insulin resistance as you get older, and can cause fertility issues should you want to have a baby. lots of times, this is something that is in the family. maybe you have an aunt or cousin or two who haven't been able to have kids or whatever. i only noticed that the women on my father's side all had this problem after i was diagnosed. i only got diagnosed after i tried to get pregnant. but looking back, i had all of the classic symptoms very early on.

For someone who is 15, that is nothing odd. It takes a while for the body to get in to the groove of this whole ovulation/menses thing. :-)
If it bothers or worries you, you can always go on HBC.
If you don't like that option, just look at the usual culprits for irregularity; stress, erradic or poor nutrition, BF% too high, BF% too low, thyroid issues, lack of sleep, PCOS, etc. Some of those you can influence with help/education, some you can influence with the help of a doctor, some you just really can't do much about.
If you don't like the herbal medicine they've given you (usually those are phto estrogens, red raspberry leaf powder, and some other various "womanly" herbs), you can always try changing things around with your nutrition (add a multi, make sure it has iron!) and exercise levels first (+ or - depending on where you're at now), and see if those help, before going on the medicine. :-)

I got my first period at ten, but I didn't get anything like a regular cycle until I was 17. I would skip several months. I had read enough about teenagers being irregular that I didn't worry about it. I think you're probably fine.

FWIW, I have a cycle you could almost set a clock to now.

When I went for a long time without bleeding as a teenager, my gyno told me that it affected my body's ability to absorb calcium and could lead to osteoporosis later in life. That was after I'd had a couple years of semi-regular bleeding, though. I don't know that it's anything to worry about, in your case. Still, extra milk or a calcium supplement couldn't hurt.

Totally sounds normal! Of course, if you're worried, it never hurts to talk to a doc - but again, it sounds like you're fine. (Good for you for checking it out though!)

Yeah...the 28-day cycle is a *very* rough estimate, especially for younger women. (Not to say it isn't true for anyone, just that it's far from true for *everyone*)

TOTALLY normal, especially for someone as young as you. :-) Don't worry, they usually do settle down after a couple of years. Mine didn't get to be anything even resembling regular until I was 19 or 20, and even then they would go crazy every few months. >_< It's only in the last couple years (I'm 28) that they've settled down, and are usually around 30 days or so.

Sounds fine to me!
I'm only 16, but my periods have always been erratic - they are settling down now, but I have no stress or no lack of sleep atm. Whenever I am stressed, I miss a few months. If my weight changes a bit (like a few kilos down), they stop too. But they have only started being at all regular since June, when my exams finished.
Hope that helps!

My periods were uber erratic from when I got them at 10, till when I was 15. Then I got on HBC and they've been regular ever since. Quite a few of my friends had irregular periods as well. If it is worrying to you, go see a doctor. I'd say that you're not doing anything wrong though. *hugs*

A few years ago I went off my birth control because I didn't have a boyfriend at the time and didn't get my period for 3 months afterwards, so you don't have to worry about not having had your period for almost a year. You could also go on birth control to regulate your period.

I'm sort of surprised everyone's saying this is totally normal... that's a pretty long time to be without a period. I guess I'd say you don't have to freak out about it, but I would see a doctor anyways to make sure everything's fine.
