Questions:

Can PID (pelvic inflammitory disease) cause a lot of pain?

does it "flare" up? or is it constant?

Can it be dangerous during pregnancy?

I am having a lot of vaginal and pelvic pain that is not at all like I have experienced in previous pregnancies. I was diagnosed with PID a year and a half ago and have had 2 biopsies since then all showing "moderate PID" However my OBGYN hasnt done any tests on it or anything since I started seeing her (am 23 weeks pregnant) and I havenet gotten it checked for about 6 months. I wrote down in my patient file that I was diagnosed with it, but shes never brought it up. How dangerous is it? .....Any ideas? I dont remember having pain with it before? But I've been really hurting the last few days. Any and all comments most appreciated.

heya.....the first sign of any, ANY, unusual discomfort, during pregnancy, requires a call to your healthcare provider, so they can assess the situation, and get whatever tests they need to be gotten, gotten.........every pregnancy is different, and the more babies, you have the higher risk you are......i worked with a midwife for about 10 months last year, and we always told our clients to call in case of anything......... i am also in the process of getting my doula certification......much love to you......wow, how exciting baby number 3.......what are your other two like, how old..........lol;)

thank you so much for your comment (I broke down and called my practitioner yesterday). :-) I have a 13 year old and a six year old (going for the big spread) How exciting for you to be getting your Doula certificate! I have had an oppurtunity to "help out" at 6 deliveries and it is such an amazing thing to experience. Nothing like it in the world.
