I know this community gets way-too-many questions about HBC, but I'm perplexed. If you need to delete or redirect thats fine, but...

I'm nearing the completion of my first pack of pills. I feel like I've had a complete pack of placebos. No moodiness. No acne reduction. No weight gain/loss. No naseau. No cramp changes. ...But 1. that's why I was prescribed them (not for the purpose of birth control)

Will the effects take place in the second or third month? I know it varies person to person, but I've never heard of NO side effects at all. Does it mean I need a higher dose pill? (I'm on a "low" triphasic pill.)

Thanks so much, I'm really frustrated that all my excitement about waylaying cramps and acne may be unfounded. If I'd felt naseaus after one pill, or spotted, or ANYTHING I'd be happier to wait patiently, but ... if this is wasting 3 months, i want a new prescription...

I think you might be the first person ever to be unhappy about not having side effects!

Don't worry. A lot of them take a couple of cycles to clear acne. The one I am on (for my acne and stuff) can take between 3-9 months. I'm sure it will work, and I know it's hard to stay patient when you're desperate to be free of spots, but hopefully your day will come! That's why a cycle of at least three months is recommended. FWIW I don't really have side-effects either, just from the Pill. In fact it made my life easier because it took away a few things.

Good luck.

When I was prescribed BC for acne and cramps it was Ortho Tricyclen. My doctor said the LO version wouldn't give me enough estrogen that I needed to clear my skin.

"No side effects" is perfectly common, you just don't hear about it because people don't have questions or complaints. Doesn't mean it's not working or that it's not going to work. Most likely any pill you end up on will take a few months to have any of these effects (other than preventing pregnancy).

I'm still waiting for some of the positive side effects of Yaz to kick in since I've only been on it two months (it did get rid of my migraines, but not the tiredness and food cravings yet). When I was curious about what would help my symptoms I used this website just so I knew which pills to ask my doctor about: http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm

It's rare that people post good, happy experiences about just about anything on the planet, which is kind of a shame when you think about it.

There's no way it would take one cycle to start clearing up your acne. You need to wait at least 6 months before getting antsy, but you will probably see slight improvements before then. As for the dose, I can't say, but I had amazing success with Diane-35 so if you do switch, I highly recommend it!

Yep, I'm on Dianette (same as Diane-35) and my hair and skin are amazing on it. Saves me a fortune in skin cream and make up!

I just did some research, and I guess it's not... wow, that's ridiculous. It does carry a bigger threat of blood clots that other varieties of the pill, which my doctor warned me about, but it's available everywhere else. But in the US, Accutane is often prescribed instead of Diane-35, and that's not exactly an easygoing drug either.

Why is the lack of side-effects a bad thing? I think many ladies in here would love to trade places with you!

Yeah, I was prescribed OTC (not Lo) when I was 13 for acne. It didn't start showing any signs of working on it for months... nearly 4 or 5 if memory serves me correct. Honestly, your dermatologist should have told you this. My acne was and continues to be very stubborn, so it wasn't enough for me. Hopefully it will be for you!

It could just be too early for you to notice any side effects, the most common onset HBC side effects are things like nausea and spotting. While other's like clearing up acne, a change in cramps and blood flow can take upto 6 months to have an effect. Also everyone is different and HBC effects everyone differently, so no one can ever really tell you what to expect or how it will go for you. Not feeling different in any way, shape, or form is a good thing! It does not mean that your pill won't protect you from pregnancy if you are taking it correctly, you're just lucky enough so far that you arent having unwanted side effects. :)

I had very little side effects when I first went on the pill, and I've changed types twice after that. I haven't had any side effects from switching (and in the case of my first pill to second, it made my random year-after-starting vomiting go away, which was good). So no worries. :)

I've taken two or three different brands and I've never had any negative side effects ever.

I also haven't had any skin clearing benefits though which is what I wanted. I also wanted less cramping, and the pill has helped with that. but my skin is the same as always and I've been on the pill for a lil over a year now :-(
