hey loves!
have any of you worked at Planned Parenthood, particularly as a Health Center Assistant? Did you like it? What (approx.) is the starting pay?
I'm hoping to grab a part time (20 hr/wk) position I sawv available on the website--I'll be going in to drop off my application and show my smiling, eager face on Monday. Any details and suggestions would be awesome.
I'm excited to do something in the reproductive health field (just graduated a few months ago, currently working at Whole Foods) and PP seems like such a great start.
Love to hear your thoughts!

Date: 2007-06-25 02:33 am (UTC)I LOVE my job. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It sucks the absolute life out of me sometimes, but I still love it. The pay is okay, you won't get rich here but most of us working at PP are in it because we believe in the mission.
As a center assistant I do whatever is asked of me. Somedays are spent in clinic counseling patients and prepping them for their exams, other days are spent at the desk area checking patients in and out. Every center may work differently, but in my clinic we rotate jobs and help out whever we are needed. I love the clinic I work in, and I love the people I work with. The patients can be great- but believe me you will have your good days and your bad days but that's at any job.
Feel free to ask me any questions I'd love to help. I'm sure your interview will go great.
